Good Choice!
Well, i just recieved the camera yesterday, so i will be quick. I really like this Camera, it has lots of functions, of course i'm still learning about, 'cause it's not that easy, but you just have to get used to it as all things. The quality of the pictures and videos is great, and so the LCD touch screen, it's a huge change for someone who had an ordinary cam before...and also the Rechargeable Lithium Battery...great one too. The only problem i've seen so far are the scrapbook and mode buttoms, they're kind of hard to press but not everything can be perfect ah?...All i can say is that if you want a comfortable, nice, and technological improvement you should by this! i'm very very pleased!

Pretty and small but a few flaws
I "upgraded" to this camera from my previous DSC-N1. I have always had Sony cameras and I love them in general. They take beautiful pictures, are easy to use and I've had very few problems with them. This is my fourth. I take A LOT of pictures. My kids consider me their personal paparazzi, so I do give my cameras a workout. I was swayed into getting this camera because I liked the way it looked, but there are a few things about it I find disappointing. I have a Sony Vaio computer and in the past, I have always just popped my memory stick (with the adapter for the duo) into my computer to transfer the pictures. That way I don't have to mess with cables since I am using a laptop. This camera has 4 GB of internal memory, which is a great feature. However, you can't choose to save to the memory stick pro duo instead. The camera will only allow you to use that when the internal memory is full. That is a huge disappointment for me. Unless you fill the internal memory and keep it full all the time, you can't use the memory stick. Also, the position of the lens is very close to the top of the camera. This means when some people use it (doesn't usually happen to me), they put their finger right over it. So I end up with lots of pictures with fingers over the people. I think it is because the camera is so small, it is hard to get a good grip on it. My last complaint is the button for viewing the pictures. I think it is awkward and hard to press. All in all, very nice camera. But there are definite improvements to be made.

Fantastic Camera
I was a bit wary about buying this camera because of the conflicting reviews that I read. But I decided to take a plunge because it looked really good and the pink color was just amazing.
Anyway, this camera did not disappoint me. I loved the big screen, the big internal memory, and how user friendly it is. I never had to refer to the manual to know how to basically operate the camera. THe picture quality was also okay, just the way I expected it from a point and shoot camera.
I loved the extra fun stuff in the camera: the in-cam retouch and painting, the cute borders, and how one can remove red eyes in the camera itself.
Overall, as a beginner, I would say that this camera is excellent. I highly recommend it to beginners like myself.

Great camera
This is a great camera for someone looking for something very small and portable. The screen is very large (and touch-screen) so all the options you need to change are right there. It also has a "simple-shoot" mode so you don't get confused with all the options.
Leaving it on automatic, night shots come out very well, and there is usually no red-eye.

Customer Review :
One problem but satisfied so far.
I bought this camera for my wife for Xmas of 07. The camera worked great until last week, end of Sept of 08. I looked at all the bad reviews to see if anyone had the same problem I had. The LCD screen stopped working. You turn it on and nothing on the screen, just blank. I'm willing to believe it has something to do with the lens because older pics on the memory card show on the screen fine along with all the icons but now no pics can be taken and no picture on screen when camera is on and pointed. Just sent it back to Sony for fixing today. We'll see. If they want to charge me for fixing it, I'll just have to tell them to shove the camera where the sun doesn't shine and never buy sony again. I'll go back to Canon. It's a shame, it "WAS" a great camera. This is really pissing me off, the Sony was replacing a Kodak that stopped working after 5 months. Don't buy Kodak either.
Added 12/20/08: Sony fixed the camera free of charge in about a week. Bump up the stars to about a four.

Nice Camera, but breaks easily
This was a nice camara until it reached 2 years of use. An error message came up, focus seems broke down. Camara was not dropped or anything. I searched online, and found a lot people having same problem, some saying by hitting the side of it might get rid of the error message, but it didn't work for me. Don't buy if you looking for something that you can use for a longer time period.

Good but beware of limitations
I have had this camera for 8+ months and used it extensively. I have had plenty of experience with many other digital and film cameras.
Its main pros: + small size (internal zoom helps) + good looks + silent operation
Cons: - very noisy images, smudged by the camera's noise reduction - very bad and overly strong flash, overwhelms subject indoors - useless red-eye technology - relatively short battery life
Basically, this is a cool party cam. For most images, esp. indoors, I need to edit with Photoshop or some other program to eliminate red eyes and fix exposure due to flash issues. The images cannot be sharpened (unlike say a Canon) because of the aggressive smudging from the noise reduction algorithm.
I like this camera but many a time I wish I had bought a Canon digital elph instead.

Dissapointing
Hi,
Ok, so the camera was AMAZING the first two days until I dropped it into the toilet in its case. Now, obviosuly this is my fault. It dried out and I brought it in to a camera specialist who said it was fine but I feel the pictures were not as clear. So now it is just sitting here on my desk and I can't use my $400 camera. But the camera was great...i don't recommend buying this porduct online. You can't send it or take it back.

Awesome Camera!!!!
I just love this camera! The quality of the photos and videos are excellent. The battery life has never been a problem at all. It's very easy to store in it's dock. The videos are great and so convenient that I find myself taking more videos with this camera than with my video camera.

Don't Do It!
I have had this camera for a year an a half. In that time it has taken many photos for me, most of them good, the rest blurry or overexposed. (blurry even when using the stabilizer. It's a big problem). My main problem with this quarrel is that about a year ago, a little bump caused some screws to come out of the camera and then the casing actually began to separate. Now, Sony took it back under warranty, fixed it, and returned it. A couple months later, a couple other screws went missing for no apparent reason. Again, sent back, returned fixed. Now, it's started doing this really annoying vibrating thing sometimes when I'm trying to take photos, which causes them to come out very, very blurry. I have no idea why it does this, and am currently shopping for a new camera. I heard the newer Cybershots are better, but am cautious to buy Sony again because this experience was so bad. I shouldn't need to buy a new camera after having this one for less than a year and a half, even less when considering it spent about two months of that being repaired. Oh, another thing, the flipdoor will come open in your pocket or purse, and waste battery. Luckily, the battery life is good, but it's still irritating and can't be good for the camera.
Don't do it, find another camera.

No Remote
This camera does everything is claims to do. However, I have only one complaint. It does not have a remote control option. Certainly, you may accomplish the same thing with it's internal timer. However, there are times when you would prefer to have that nifty 6ft. Remote shutter control. Other than this it is a great camera.

Pics as good as SLR for a fraction of the price
I am not an expert, but the pictures from this camera look as good as pics from an expensive SLR camera. People can't believe the pictures I take with this camera. The 12X zoom makes it perfect for sporting events and your kid's school events. Unbelievable pictures. The only downside is that the camera is big (like an SLR) so we also have a smaller one to carry around everyday. But our everyday camera can't zoom in like this one. Be prepared, this thing is big but it is worth lugging around if you want really good pictures and the 3X zoom on a small camera just won't cut it. The price is so reasonable that you can get both this one and a small everyday camera.

A little disappointed
Takes awesome outside pictures. I'm a little upset about the inside shots. Flash is too bright even though I have done everything instructed to make it darker. Pics are out of focus when used without the flash with dim light. Had it a couple of months and had to send in for repair due to an internal computer issue but the turn around time was great ( about 7 days). I guess the bottom line is that I am keeping it but would not buy it again.

Sony Cybershot 7.2 MP camera died right after 1 year warranty expired
Suddenly, while traveling, this Sony Cybershot 7.2 MP stopped working. It was exactly 1 year after purchase, right after the warranty expired. Very disappointing.
An electronic problem causes a complete freezing-up right after the shutter button is pushed, resulting in a blank black viewer. After it finally releases from the freeze, no picture has been taken.
Repair work costs more than to replace camera, of course. I will think twice before buying Sony camera again.
As a photographer, I have owned many different cameras. Never have had a complete malfunction on a camera ever, except in a used Nikon I bought from the guys at the B&H Used Camera Dept in NYC.
This Sony should have been better and should have lasted much longer. My old Olympus digital lasted at least five years with no problem.

Poor Pictures
I have gone through a few digital cameras. My first was a Kodak. It took great pictures but was too big to just stick in my pocket. My next purchase was an Olympus. It was very compact with great feautres but took TERRIBLE pictures. Then I purchased the Sony DSCW90B. I like the size, but that is about it. 90% of the pictures I take do not come out well at all. Also, the lag time between pictures seems to be forever. It is way too slow to capture small children playing and wildlife. Since I purchased it a few months ago, I am stuck.

Sony's has never failed to impress me. I recently owned the W70 and loved it and i love this.
The pictures are good and the in-camera features and modifications are well placed.
The pictures are great and video is great and the camera is pretty stylish.
Cons: You can't zoom in with the camera in video mode but it's alright since the last W70 didn't have that feature too but it would've been nicer if it did. The button lags a little bit when i try to view the picture but no big deal.
Great Camera and Great Deal.

Great for stills but not action shots
Don't let my title fool you - I love this camera. It takes wonderful still pictures that come out clear and beautiful. But whenever I attempt to take a night picture without flash or of a moving object, they come out blurry. I have tried using the different settings but I still can not get the pictures to come out in focus. The battery last a very, very long time and extremely user friendly in regards to menu features and uploading to PC.

Questions & Answers
Question : i broke my sony camera, should i invest in a new sony digital camera or buy a canon?
i've heard canon brand is better than sony, but since i already have the battery, charger and memory card i was thinking about getting another sony..
so do i buy a Sony camera or go for a Canon?????
what's your advice?
Answer:
Tough choice, but think the Canon below would really be the best.
Just saw this camera at Best Buy and think it is a great camera and a best buy. It has an optical viewfinder and uses NiMH rechargeable batteries. Please read as much of the following as you can for other information and help with choosing a camera.
Canon A590IS $134.99 at Best Buy or $116.30 at Amazon.com
http://bountii.com/deal-1523871-canon-powershot-8-0-megapixel.html ...
Camera reports batteries low, but is it low charge or bad electrical contacts? Overcharging can ruin good batteries! The secret to making digital cameras work better is having good electrical contacts between batteries and camera.
Digital cameras require lots of power. Bad electrical contacts can cause lots of problems so battery and camera contacts must be cleaned properly. Batteries may be fully charged, but will be viewed as low if contacts are not really good. The LCD screen is a low steady load, but when lens extension, optical zoom, focus, and flash charging are added in the capture mode; the load is very heavy. Bad contacts make cameras do strange things like making bad pictures or shutting off with the lens out.
CAUTION Do not overcharge! Batteries can be severely damaged. Use an automatic two or more hour Energizer Compact smart charger with safety timer, temperature monitor, and trickle charge technology ($9.76) at Walmart. For longer life, use Duracell 2000mAh batteries and a full cycle charge monthly. To preserve battery charge, use the view finder and not the LCD screen when possible.
There are so many cameras out there it is difficult to say which is best, but digital is definitely the way to go. The second source link will be very helpful as it list most of the cameras out there with prices.
What gives a camera its picture quality? The following information should help you know what to look for in a camera.
The short answer is that it is mostly the skill of the photographer that produces high quality pictures. The lens and camera are very important, but the ability to set the scene, adjust the cameras settings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the great pictures.
Many of the new cameras come with only an LCD screen. Would suggest that you find one that also has an optical view finder because the LCD screen is almost impossible to see in bright sun.
Higher mega pixels may not really be the best thing to look for. It is more expensive, takes longer to process, and may not be needed unless you are making a really large picture or blowing up a small part of a picture. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches.

The information about my camera is just to show that you don't need the biggest and best. Just know how to use the one you have.
My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes ... like magic.
Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own, but don't believe everything you hear. Once you select a camera read all about it in the owner's manual. Just learned that my camera has red-eye prevention and correction. It also has adaptive lighting. You may be able to view the owners manual at this link, but will need to Login. http://www.retrevo.com/s/di

Question : Can you use a sony memory card on a canon digital camera?
I used to have a sony digital camera and had bought a sony memory card for it but my camera broke and so i got a new one but its a canon. but I want to load the pics that I have on my sony memory card to my computer, can I use it in my canon?
Answer:
each camera uses a certain kind of memory card. Your sony was probably a memory stick, or pro duo or something, the canon, like the last person said, is probably an sd. If you really want to know why didn't you try to shove the old one in the new camera. If it fit and saved a taken picture to it then you know it would work. Genius.

Question : How do you go to the trash bin in a Sony digital camera?
It's a sony Cyber-shot DSC-W120 digital camera. I Deleted the pictures by accident andI really want to get them back.
Thanks
Answer:
You are thinking that your camera works like your computer, sorry but it does not, once you have deleted them then under all normal circumstances you have lost them. If you have not taken other photographs since you deleted them so that they have not been overwritten you can contact a specialist company who deal in data recovery. There may be software you can purchase that will do the same job, how effective it is I have no idea. You will have to do a search of the internet to locate it. Whichever way it will probably cost you, so it depends how important these photos are.
Regards.

Question : Is it possible to use a third-party Info-lithium replacement battery in a SONY digital camera?
Hi! Please...I have a SONY DSC-S50 Cyber-shot digital camera, and I believe it's time for a battery replacement. The model number on my battery is: NP-FM50. This battery is the original battery and it came with the camera. It's labled as an "infolithium" battery. Please, is it mandatory that I order a SONY replacement battery, in particular, or am I safe in ordering a compatible lithium battery online or elsewhere? If so, which online site is recommended? One site suggested that sometimes third-party batteries don't always work in SONY digital cameras. Sony, naturally, suggests that I use their brand of accessories. I am still quite the novice and any/all advice regarding this subject will be greatly appreciated! Thank you! :)
Answer:
I've had luck using compatible batteries for my old Sony digicam. But I heard that the newer Sonys have a way of checking if the battery is a genuine Sony infolithium battery.
Best to work with a local seller that has a good return policy - such as Best Buy or Circuit City.
I personally buy most of my rechargable batteries from Thomas Distributing:
http://store.thomas-distributing.com/displayproduct.asp?which=57
I've also had good luck with Battery Barn:

Question : format error on sony digital camera how do i fix it? is there a disc to reset harddrive?
i have a sony mavica model mvc-fd85 digital camera ,when a disc is inserted it says format erroe 13-1,when i try to format disc error message appears ,i believe hard drive is out of whacck.is there any way to reformat hard drive?
Answer:
This is one of the earliest Sony digital cameras that uses regular 3.5" floppy disks. Try formatting other disks in the camera - do you get the same error message? I also suggest formatting the disk with your computer to rule out the possibility that you have some bad disks.
If the problem is not with the disks, then the problem is most likely with the disk drive in the camera. You'll probably need to contact Sony for repairs....or it's time for a new camera.

Question : Which is better a Sony or a Canon digital camera ?
I'm panning to buy a good digital camera and i'm wondering which is better a sony digital camera or a canon. Do you know any good model to suggest ?
Answer:
Sony tends to be lower end. They're limited on lenses and feel cheap. Sony has been making SLRs since 2006 and Canon since the early 1900s. Who do you think would be better?

Question : Problem with the display of a Sony digital camera?
I have a sony digital camera model DSC-T50. Yesterday I saw that there is a gray line across the display. Can this be fixed? And how much will it cost? There is no point in getting a new display, I might as well buy a new camera. If someone has any ideas please help. Thank you in advance.
Answer:
Repair is usually cost prohibitive unless your camera is still under warranty, but maybe you can fix the problem by removing the batteries for at least one minute. This will make the camera reset to the original program settings. You can also clean the battery and camera electrical contacts because this can cause that problem. Check out the source link for this and other ideas.
The secret to making digital cameras work better is having good electrical contacts between the batteries and the camera.
Digital cameras require lots of power. If electrical contacts are not really good, this can cause lots of problems so battery and camera contacts must be cleaned properly. Batteries may be fully charged, but will be viewed as low if contacts are not really good. The LCD display is a low steady load, but when lens extension, optical zoom, focus, and flash charging are added in the capture mode; the load is very heavy. With bad contacts, cameras do strange things like making bad pictures or shutting off with the lens out.
