The slim Samsung SL201 features a resolution of 10.2-Megapixels, a 3x optical zoom lens, and a large 2.7" intelligent LCD, which will automatically brighten or dim based on available lighting. The SL201 features Face Detection, Self Portrait, and Digital Image Stabilization (DIS) technology. Face Detection makes taking pictures of family and friends a snap, as it automatically detects up to nine faces and adjusts focus and exposure settings to ensure better composition and image quality. Self Portrait mode is a unique function that takes the guessing out of taking a self-portrait. When in Self Portrait mode, the SL201 automatically detects the user's face, adjusts focus and exposure, and allows a photo to be taken only if the subject is centered in the frame. Samsung's improved DIS technology helps the user capture blur-free images. Thanks to the enhanced sensitivity of the SL201's imaging sensor, which features a maximum ISO of 1600, and the camera's DIS technology, you can rest assured that you'll be able to capture images in low-light situations, especially when the use of a flash is not desired. Function Description provides a brief and easy-to-understand description of each setting when scrolling through the camera's menus, helping the end-user determine which setting is appropriate for their current shooting scenario. 8 to 1/1,500 Second Shutter Speeds Max aperture - f/3.0 10cm at wide angle or 50 cm at telephoto macro focusing distance Multi, center-weighted, spot, or face detection metering modes Scene modes - Portrait, night, children, landscape, text, closeup, sunset, dawn, backlight, fireworks, beach and snow NTSC/PAL video and USB 2.0 Connectivity Dimensions - Width 3.6 x Height 2.3 x Depth 0.8 Weight - 3.9 ounces

Easy to use camera
Haven't learned all the options yet but for now I just put it in the AUTO mode. Even only using this option pictures are clear and well focused. The only problem is it takes forever for the picture to actually flash. Rather slow so there are missed action shots.

Samsung L210
This camera is a gem. I own 5 digital cameras and the Samsung L210 is perfect for those times you don't want to carry around a large SLR or medium size super zoom. Just put it in your pocket and go. The image quality is excellent and there is very little noise at low to medium iso. I don't think this camera will let you take a bad shot. I'm amazed at the features Samsung has packed into this small, quality built camera. You just can't do better for the price.

great for the price digital camera
pro: The camera works as advertised. Pictures are clear and sharp. con: The printed user manual is worthless. It's awkward to have to go to the computer and load the cd every time I want to consult the manual. I don't want to print all 160 pages.

Completely happy
Replaced a 7 year old Olympus with this new, sleeker model. Grandson did all the homework for me. He's in a photography class in school. Has all the features I was looking for plus purchased the waterproof accessory for this camera. Won't hesitate to take it in my kayak and also to the beach.

Best bang for the buck!
I replaced a Canon S700 IS with the red model of this Samsung L210. Before that I've had 2 other Canons and one other Samsung camera. Canons tend to take the best pictures and they use the standard SD memory unlike Sony cameras which I refuse to buy due to their insistence on using their own proprietary memory.
Reasons I bought this Samsung over my Canon 1. Ability to take low light pictures blur free. This was the BIG reason. 2. Ability to take video using mpeg4 compression, can fit hours on a 2gb card. 3. More manual control.
The dual image stabilization mode (digital processing + Optical Image Stabilization) works as advertised, I can take indoor natural looking pictures without flash, but there's a catch. The camera takes two pictures and combines it. This taking two pictures mode means it takes a lot longer to take pictures. But it's a small inconvenience to finally have nice looking indoor pictures (for those times when optical image stabilization doesn't work well enough).
In other modes such as Auto, Manul, and Program you can turn on the optical image stabilization (OIS) feature only and pictures are taken normally. I like how the OIS has it's own button, in my previous Canon I had to access it through a few levels of menus.
Other features include a Program mode that is similar to the Manual mode but you get the option of changing the Aperature and Shutter speeds.
Videos are solid at 30fps up to 640x480 resolution. It has a wide screen mode but that's just a gimick since the frame rate drops down to 20fps.
Other useful features: 1. Auto LCD brightness control depending on lighting conditions 2. Time/date stamps right on the pictures 3. Basic editing of pictures like Cropping, resolution, and rotation of pictures right in the camera, very, very, useful if you want to quickly post stuff to the web.
So far I'm very happy with the pictures I'm getting. I'm surprised Canon is falling behind in the features department, I would think natural indoor pictures would be top priority as would the ability to take long videos without filling up memory cards. I have to give it to Samsung, they've done a superb job this time around. Highly recommened. (I'll try to post some pictures)

best compact
pros : - best compact I ever owned (I have Nikon, Panasonic-leica, Fuji, Kodak...) - AMOLED screen is bright and crisp. - real wide angle (24 mm) - one of the most simple to set up ( "real" smart button ) - up to 3200 Asa U can use (granulated but useful, if like me U don't like flash style light)) - SDHD card = 16 Go = more than 3000 photos 10 MP, ultra fine. (Do you remember film rolls ?)
cons : (just to try to be exhaustive...) - no optical viewfinder; it could be useful in very special conditions, but most of people don't have the use of it. - I don't succeed to buy the cradle for HDMI connection. I think it don't exists yet, even at Amazon ! Wait and see.. - no separate battery charger. U must plug the camera to charge the battery. ( but I have a ten dollars universal battery charger for cellulars which works fine !)

Customer Review :
Pretty good camera, nice options, smaller than expected
This is a neat little camera. I thought it was going to be a bit bigger but was surprised at how compact it was. (Not a bad thing). Takes pretty good pictures but shows up a little blurry on the LCD for some odd reason. Once the pictures were loaded to the computer, the image looked a lot better then on the LCD screen.
The zoom function is a little disappointing. At only 3x and 2x digital zoom. Pictures came out blurry with using max zoom. Also, the self-timer mode was also disappointing. The camera only uses led flashes to tell you went to get ready instead of both "led and audio beeps" to warn you.
Other than that, the camera is awesome for the price. Plenty of manual options for intermediated users and also has an AUTO mode for a quick point and shoot.
The rear controls takes some time to get use to, but after 30mins of playing with it, I got it down. Very nice user friendly controls. Works like a "touch-screen" but uses the sensors along the LCD to maneuver thru the controls.
The start-up time is pretty quick. I didn't time it but I can safely say it takes less then 1-2 seconds from pushing the power button and getting ready to take pictures.
Theres a couple of nice quick manuals features on the top left that lets you take black and white, vivid, etc etc. pictures. But I don't use it. I have a photo editing software to do all that. But its a nice quick feature for those who want to take pictures with a little effect to match the mood.
Has all the features you have come to known with a digital camera. This camera would be a perfect 5 if the zoom options were better (5x optical) and if the Self-Timer options had an audio warning options instead of LED flashes.

Great Camera
I have had my Sony Cybershot DSC-W2 for a couple of years now and wanted something with more manual controls and higher resolution for cropping and enlarging images. I was wary of buying a camera other than a Sony because I have been extremely happy with the image quality from my previous Sony digital cameras, but the Samsung NV series were the only cameras with the specs I was looking for within my price range. The NV11 had been receiving rave reviews in MacWorld magazine for several months, so I thought I would check it out, but the NV30 was just released last month (April 2008) and came with optical image stabilization whereas the NV11 only boosted ISO to combat camera shake, creating more noise in the images. Since I did not need a 5x zoom, the NV30 did not disappoint with its 3x zoom and 8.1 megapixels (10 megapixels is starting to be overkill for a point-and-shoot in my opinion). At first I was disappointed because the LCD display does not do the initial images justice. I thought many shots were out of focus at first, but was pleasantly surprised when I downloaded and reviewed them on my laptop. The image quality is sharp, colors are great and noise is low through ISO 200. The video capture was definitely a step up as well. The Samsung NV interface is very intuitive and easy for anyone with the least bit of computer savvy. It is amazing the images that can be had from such a tiny camera/lens. Full manual controls and MANY easily reached scene modes make this a great all-around point-and-shoot for beginner or more advanced photographers. So glad I got this camera - well done Samsung!

Wonderful little camera with a unique interface
I agree with everything that the previous reviewer said. The fuzziness of the previews is disconcerting at first. But if you zoom into an area, you can quickly see that the focus is actually crisp. I have no idea why the previews are so fuzzy.
I was looking for a "compromise" camera small enough to carry in a shirt pocket for snapshots during a trip or at a party. The three main features that attracted me to this model were: 1) a unique interface that quickly lets you access many specialized functions using a vertical and horizontal grid (great for people from an SLR background); 2) A very satisfying metal body and ergonomic feel, without being heavy; 3) a Schneider lens. Schneider isn't well-known in the USA, but they make many specialized lenses. Their enlarger lenses can be considered the "Leicas of the darkroom", so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed.
This is a very user-friendly and convenient camera that takes great photos.

GREAT camera
This is an awesome little camera. After a ton of research I was set on the NV10 but after I fond out that 10 megapixels can be too much I settled on the NV30. So I ordered it from here on Amazon. When I got it and opened it up the first thing I liked was how small it was. I thought it'd be bigger for some reason but it is definately great for pocket carrying. The camera also looks amazing and is nice and sleek. I love it and it takes great pictures. - Pros: Small stylish look Different scene modes are cool Very easy to use Tons of features Photo editing right on there Dual image stabilizer Face Detection Red eye removal Awesome intuitive touch buttons Very very fast startup
- Cons: When pics are edited it saves both the edited and the original'can be good thing tho Could have more zoom but its fine
-Overall: Great! Awesome! Takes great pics, many features, best image stabilizer you can get (dual), everything you would want in a camera at a great price! Cant be beat!!
(some of my pictures are under the user images)

The camera is a type where the lens come up when you turn it on. The lens came out but the battery died and the lens stayed put. Is there anything i can do to fix it without bringing it to a samsung center?

Question : Change image size on samsung bl103 digital camera?
I just got a samsung camera and when taking pictures they come out HUGE...How do I change the setting so the pictures take a little smaller?
Answer:
NO, no, no, no, no - don't EVER do that!!!
You should never EVER set your camera to anything less than best quality (i.e. lowest compression rate) and biggest size (highest resolution).
The reasons for that include:
1) If you have a good, large photo, you can crop it more later on without losing too much detail if you really have to.
2) If you happen to take the best photo you ever took, you'll be able to print it at a large size. If you lowered size and quality, you'd be kicking yourself.
3) If you decide later you really don't want to keep a big file, it is very easy to down-size it in post processing - but you can't go the other way, you can't invent pixels that weren't there in the first place.
4) Memory cards are cheap, so are bigger hard drives. There is NO reason to do anything less than the best.

Question : How do you capture color light with a Samsung S730 digital camera?
I have a samsung s730 7.2 digital camera and I was wondering how to capture a great light scene at night? I know how to use the different modes for different scenes but at night even with right mode the picture comes out blury or too bright with the flash. If i am taking pictures of different color lights such as a blue lighting or red or something how do I capture the color in the picture without it coming out too blury?
Answer:
u need a long exposure, and because of long exposure time you may not move the camera, and do not use flash. You will then get the light from the streets lights or whatever else is around... expect to get diff colors, reds and oranges .... get a tripod, will not be able to hand hold at such long exposure settings

Question : I have a samsung digital camera and the lcd screen is cracked where can i get it fixed and for how much?
the camera is only 2 weeks old and the make of it is samsung digimax A503 with a 2" lcd screen.
Answer:
fly to japan, have a great time, take an ordinary camera you are sure of. good luck. I hate didgital cameras, they do not photo correctly. If you look close, you will see. Cannot beat an ordinary point and shoot, mind you, you have to have a mind behind the eye.

Question : Can I use any type of memory card for a Samsung digital camera?
I want to get the pink samsung model 860 for $99.99
Can I use the SanDisk 2 GB memory card?
Answer:
Read the manual. Go online to the Samsung website and read the specifications.
For starters you need to know exactly which type of memory card you need, and even if you have the right type, some of the cheap cameras can only handle smaller cards.

Question : how to take picture of a moon whith my samsung digital camera?
someone help me??? i want to take picture of a moon
camera i have :
samsung S750
zoom-5.8-17.4mm 3X optical zoom
have ASR (advance shake reduction)
7.2 megapixel
i have paint shop pro X2
picasa
tripod
Answer:
The moon will be quite small with your lenses focal length which is not much longer that a medium telephoto used to take portraits.
Even using my 500 mm on my D300, the moon only fills about 1/5th of the frame.
I don't know how you plan on setting the camera to the sunny 16 rule setting for exposing the moon properly. At ISO 100, you could hand hold the camera at 1/400th second @ f/8 with the camera set at infinity and get nearly perfect exposures.
If you attempt to use the auto-exposure, auto-focus features of your camera, you are likely only to get a white hole in the sky and a lot of camera movement, because the auto-exposure will be trying to expose for the night sky, not the moon

Question : What memory card is needed for a Samsung L200 digital camera?
I have a san disk 256 mg, would that work with a samsung camera?
Answer:
This camera uses an SD memory card, you don't say what type of memory card your San Disk card is so I can't tell you if it will work or not.
If it's a small, thin rectangle and says 'SD' on the bottom left then it will work with your camera. If its a square and says 'CF' then it will not work.
Hope this helps.

Yes there is sound on the camera, and if I send it via e mail, they get sound.
Answer:
Is your camera capable to capture audio? When you play it back in your camera do you hear anything? If so are your speakers turned way down or muted.
