Samsung L210 10.1 MP digital camera w/3x optical image stabilized zoom
I have had this camera for about a month now. I have a digital SLR which I love, but it can be a hassel to carry around everywhere with 2 children. I purchased the Samsung to be a carry around, catch the unexpected moments camera. It has worked great for this.
It has some issues, but I am not sure if it is the camera or the flash card I purchased to use with it. There is a definite lag between shutter depression and picture taking. Some other reviewers have complained about lines on the pictures.
I have taken pictures both inside and out, in partial shade and partial sun. I only noticed the lines on the camera screen when the battery started to run low, but when I downloaded the pictures to my computer the lines were not there.
I have to agree with other reviewers, the written manual is useless, but the manual on the disc provided is much more helpful. It has some point and shoot options, but some of the more advanced features are not the easiest to use. The child picture feature takes the manual and practice to find.
The image stabilization is a definite plus. I am able to take pictures one handed with this and not have the normal blur. I've had some problems with focus which is probably operator error. Overall, I would recommend this camera as the pros outway the cons.

Great camera for outdoor pics - average for indoor
I purchased this camera for my wife to replace a Canon that was too big to fit her purse - the Canon was great, but a bit bulky. Here's what we think of the camera so far:
Pros: - Outdoor daytime pictures are stunning! Colors are bright and faithful to real-life and white balance is good at factory settings. - Large LCD screen with auto brightness in any lighting is a big plus. We never have trouble seeing the screen, even in bright light. - For such a small, purse-sized camera, we think it is plenty sturdy - just be sure to use the wrist strap, because it is easier to drop by nature of it's size - that's just basic physics!
Cons: - Flash photography is just average - and the camera is pretty slow in very low light, even with flash. - Battery life is just average. You should get an extra battery - if you do, I would get a name brand, as generics don't hold charge and won't last as long as your original.
Overall, for our use, we love this camera! We just wish it was a bit faster in low light and had a longer-lasting battery. Still, we highly recommend!

Great Product
I buy this camera 1 month ago, and I have to say is really amazing. The quality of the photos are really good, it has a lot of options (more than enough for any kind of situations) and the only thing you should know is that you must buy a memory card, because the internal memory is really low.

Maybe...
I have a DSLR and lenses, and a Canon S3 IS ultra-zoom. I wanted a small pocketable point-and-shoot for those occasions where I did not want to lug the other gear.
It was a toss-up between this and a Panasonic LZ8, and a Nikon S550. The Nikon did not have optical image stabilization, and the Panny was a bit bulgy due to the AA batteries. So, I decided on this camera after reading a few reviews.
I spent a couple lunch breaks just examining the features and how they interact (some features are limited or absent in certain modes), and went on one outing to have a real-world test.
I have mixed feelings about it.
*Pros: Compact. Substantial feel. Can produce nice images. Red-eye reduction seems to work well. Looks like decent basic editing software.
*Cons: Has difficulty focusing, particularly in low light, and when digitally zoomed. Digital zoom on any camera is crap so I'm not too worried about it here.
Somewhat slow operation. The screen blanks out for 2 or 3 seconds (or an additional second or two if using flash) as the image is being written to the card. You can't change settings or do anything while this is happening.
Obvious barrel distortion at the wide end of the zoom.
*Quirks (May be good or bad according to your preferences): Battery charges through the USB cable only, either from your PC's USB or a wall socket. This is convenient, yet it ties up your camera while charging. I got just under 200 shots in the real world, but over 450 at home when testing it. So, your mileage will vary greatly depending on how you are shooting.
Although there is a manual mode (M), you can only choose one of two apertures at whatever focal length you are at. These are normally the maximum and minimum available apertures. Though these choices really are sufficient, control freaks may be disappointed.
Continuous shooting is available in 2 modes, "continuous" and "shutter capture". "Continuous" is what most people think of but only about 1 shot per second (pretty slow). "Shutter capture" is a snappy 6 shots per second for a maximum of 5 seconds for a total of 30 shots. This is great performance - except the images are only 640 x 480 pixels, barely 4 x 6 inches at full size. The screen blanks out during all the shooting.
Exposure bracketing. This can be a great feature as it gives you three exposure choices. However, the difference is only 1/3 of a stop each way which is not very noticeable. It should be at least 1/2 stop (or more) either way to be useful, as editing software can adjust 1/3 stop easily. Also, the camera takes 3 shots in a row and the LCD will be blank during all of it, about 9 seconds.
The self-timer has some neat options such as taking 2 consecutive shots at a time (so you don't have to run back to the camera to "do" another one), or motion-detection that waits for everyone to settle down. However, once the shot is taken, the camera reverts to the normal mode. If you want to take a series of nights shots on a tripod with the self-timer to minimize blur, for example, you will have to set the self-timer each time.
Movie mode has a high-res option, yet at a reduced frame-rate so it may appear slightly choppy. You can zoom while filming, which is a plus. But, I can't get any sound when played on my desktop PC, though it is audible when played in the camera or on my laptop.
The user manual is on a PDF file. However, there is a dedicated "mode" on the dial that is a help guide. There is a printed quick-start quide to get you going, and as most the options are pretty straight-forward, you should not have a big problem operating the camera.
For a basic camera, I think it is OK, with a few good features. For anything advanced, you might think it is missing a few features. If it had a viewfinder, I would probably give it another star because the blank screen would be less of an issue as you could still accurately frame the subject.

No Pictures for the Holidays
I bought this camera to take pictures for the holidays, but it broke within one week. The camera will no longer turn on. Samsung told me that it has mulfunctioned and that I need to send it back. I've never had a piece of electronic equipment break so fast, but I am shocked less people have had the same issue.

Not Worth It!
I was not happy with this product. The shutter speed is very slow so it took forever to capture a shot, and by then the subject had moved. I took about 25 pictures of random things including my cats and the children I work with to familiarize myself with the camera. When I turned it on later to look through them all the shots had been deleted by the camera. It just was not worth the price!

Fill In Camera
My Canon PowerShot S50 developed a twitchy on and off syndrome and finally stopped working altogether while on vacation in Germany so I looked at what I could get for about 150 Euros and ended up picking the Samsung L100 with 2 GB RAM. It had image stabilization, more megapixels (8.1) and a percieved quality about it that attracted me, although I didn't know that I could have gotten it for much less here. I am embarrassed to admit that I had to go back to the store for them to show me how to use the self timer, because the quick start manual didn't show how and I couldn't figure it out myself. All I had to do was to press the multi control button right side repeatedly until the timer icon comes up and by pressing the right side of that button repeatedly you select the 2 or 10 second option. Then postion the camera and hit the trigger button and it works fine, with little flashes of light telling you when to get ready by increasing in frequency until it shoots a picture. It has a fairly advanced red eye protection system that works well. I am happy I bought it because the other options available were for more money or for less features at that price. The pictures it takes are very nice.Samsung L100 8.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Silver)

Representing the very best in compact camera technology, the SAMSUNG NV24HD boasts a 24mm wide-angle and a 3.6x optical zoom lens so you have a wider shooting range. Capture images and record videos in high definition - then watch them on your HDTV in high-quality 720p resolution. Images are richly colored, crisp and clear, simply the best quality available in a digital camera. Crystal-clear digital images can be viewed on a HDTV for the ultimate slideshow through a single HDMI cable. What's more, the NV24HD is enabled with Anynet+ technology, so all you need is one remote to take control of the action. A wider 180° viewing angle, enhanced color reproduction, ultra-high contrast ratio, and quick near-zero millisecond response time are just some of the advantages of this new, thinner, AMOLED screen. Unlike standard LCDs, the bright 2.5" AMOLED screen reduces the glare from sunlight so you can see your images under any lighting condition. Dual Image Stabilization eliminates the blur caused by camera shake and delivers clear, crisp images every time, even under difficult lighting situations. Integrating the best lens shifting mechanisms of Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) with the sophisticated algorithms of Digital Image Stabilization (DIS) corrects even the tiniest of shakes. Whether you're indoors or out, snapping a landscape or friends around a table, the 24mm Ultra Wide Angle lens gives you a wider shooting range from a shorter distance and more flexibility for a greater variety of high-quality options. The 24mm Ultra Wide Angle is a perfect marriage of advanced versatility with the convenience of a stylish, compact camera. auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200 (only 3M) ISO 20MB Internal Memory (additional memory recommended to store more photos and video) Media Card Slot - SDHC Card (up to 8GB), MMC plus (up to 2GB) USB Connector, Video Output, DC Input Approximate Unit Dimensions - 3.9(W) x 2.4

best wide angle for the price?
I do a lot of hiking, biking and whatnot and miss too many shots because my stupid macho adrenaline-junkie partners generally refuse to indulge me while I futz with my digital SLRs.
Problem is, I sometimes need to turn those outdoorsy moments into cash. Since dinky cameras have gotten quite good image-wise, I felt it was time for pocket point&shoot whose images might be coaxed into commercial use. My desires, in order of importance:
1. Wide angle. A real wide angle, at least 28mm. 2. Reasonably crisp images -- a good starting point for Pshop, anyway. 3. Manual exposure setting. 4. Histogram. 5. Raw capability.
The Samsung NV24 does not have the last two features. The cameras that do -- Panasonic Lumix LX3, various Nikons or Canons -- are far more pricey. (I did test a different Lumix with imaging hardware similar to the LX3. Unimpressive pixels.) Knowing that the camera would also be a beater (throw camera in jacket, forget about camera, throw jacket into car) made this Samsung, with its 24mm lens and easy cost, worth an experiment.
I love this little thing. It feels great in hand. Unlike nearly every other P&S I've handled, the ND24 is a contradiction. It's light and tiny yet it has a businesslike heft. The body feels like it's milled from a solid aluminum billet. You can actually hold it still. In my pocket it does not feel ready to slip out unnoticed.
The image quality is about as good as these teensy chips tend to be. It's plenty good for the web.
Some reviewers here complain about software, connectivity, etc. I apologize in advance if feelings are hurt but . . . this pup is ready for Macs. I plug in the supplied cable. Punch one button on the camera. The camera card mounts and the battery starts recharging.
It is a RTFM camera, especially the "smart button" feature which is actually its two series of buttons. The interface is a clever X-Y axis setup. In some instances, like tweaking exposure compensation, you sweep your finger across all the buttons to scroll.
Kudos to Samsung for the packaging. Small box, no fripperies, mostly recyclable.
Finally, although most all modern digicam have ridiculous never-used "features" -- like the ability to shoot macro with all smiles in focus at night at the carnival (with and without fireworks) -- the Samsung NV24HD is refreshingly non-grotesque in this regard.
Samsung, add to this camera a histogram and a raw file dump and I can name a couple dozen pros who will pay twice as much for it.

I really wanted to like this camera
I though this camera was the answer to all my needs. With this thing, I wouldn't have to carry the usual DSLR (20D) with 2 lenses, accessory flash, extra batteries, and a camcorder. Yes, HD video, good brand, good looks, and good value. What's more? I can zoom while recording, H264 compression, 30fps, stellar video quality and stereo sound, so I thought perfecto!
I read many reviews before purchasing and came to expect that this camera would not provide stellar IQ. Okay. Fine. I can live with average IQ, but the HD is what I really wanted, or so I thought.
I had this camera for 5 days and shot in a variety of setting like low light, sunny, cloudy, sunset, indoors, outdoors, etc. Noise control was actually acceptable but what I found very unacceptable was the smearing and smudging from this camera even at ISO 80 in daylight. Believe me, I tried everything like turning the in camera sharpening all the way down, using faster shutter speeds to prevent blur, and taking pictures in a variety of settings.
My In-Law's 2 year old Canon P&S is way sharper. I really wanted to convince myself to keep this camera but it would defeat the purpose of getting it in the first place. That means I would have to carry the Samsung for video and my 20D for pictures. I wanted one device that would take decent pictures along with HD video.
My final decision is to return this item and eat the restocking fee and shipping both ways. Maybe next time Samsung.

Weak camera - I sent it back for a refund
I purchased this camera based on the specs mostly - 720p video, stereo audio, 10MP still images, optical image stabilization, and high ISO. Sadly the camera was pretty much a disappointment from the minute I started using it. First off the camera's design and slick body makes it difficult to handle. The pop-up flash is annoying and unnecessary. The user interface, while unique and potentially cool, has very annoying glitches in it's implementation. Overall still image quality was very weak. The auto white balance failed many times in normal indoor light, rendering yellow tinted images. Shooting in low light with the image stabilization rendered images with heavy noise reduction artifacts (the NR can't be turned off) which created strange "marbling" and lack of contrast. The so-called "720p HD video" looked very poor. The VGA video from my Canon SD 870 IS was far sharper and clearer. The stereo audio was passable, but nothing to write home about. I sent this camera back for a refund and ordered a Canon SD 880 IS.

Didn't last too long
Not every camera will have this problem, I'm sure, but my lens jammed in the "out" position about the 4th time I turned it on.
Batteries are charged, I pulled them out to let the camera reset, and I even tried with the AC adapter. It grinds the lens motor a bit and beeps what must be an error beeps when I turn it on, and then it shuts down.
So back to the vendor it goes.
Seemed like an OK camera for the few minutes I was able to use it. The zillions of soft buttons around the display seems like a way to avoid the expense/challenge of a touch screen.

Great little camera/camcorder but BEWARE of Editing Software!
I have several digital camcorders I use for my kids youth sports games. Lately I started shooting 3 different camera angles for football (with a little help from my friends)...so the Samsung NV24HD is the latest addition to my bag, and it is a great one.
Allow me to keep my review simple and focused on this use since there are so many other comprehensive reviews already. The wide angle lens seems to be the coolest thing when shooting the games. Whether at field level action, halftime locker room talks or up high in the crow's nest for "game film" footage this little camera delivers!
Other than the audio going to mute during zooming, the only potential downside I see is the editing and burning the footage using software. I have a Sanyo Xacti 720p camcorder that also uses the MP4 AVC/H.264 format and have not had many problems. It is my understanding that the implementation of this format can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Not sure what the deal is but my programs are NOT handling this camera's footage the same.
I always maintain several applications in this area as well including Sony Vegas, Adobe Premier Elements and Pinnacle. I have grown tired of the Sony Vegas user interface (too busy and complicated) so let me say a couple of things about Adobe and Pinnacle specific to the footage/files this camera produces:
1) Adobe Premier Elements: Versions 3 gives a message that it is an "Unsupported Format"...strange since this version has always worked with the MP4's off of my Sanyo Xacti. AE 4 handle the files fine. Adobe Premier Elements 7 HATES the format! It's like they were so focused on getting the AVCHD right (and they did by the way) they completely screwed up the capabilities to work with the MP4 AVC/H.264 format!
2) Pinnacle Studio Plus 12: Not a big fan of the user interface (look and feel) of Pinnacle Studio but it WORKS, and it works well for not only the MP4 AVC/H.264 format that this Samsung camera uses but all my others. A big bonus that it also handles my AVCHD .mts files very very well!
3) Corel VideoSudio Pro X2 will not even allow you to import the .mp4 files from this camera. It will however import the MP4 files from my Sanyo xacti. I see a seperate review that says the implementation or codec of this Samsung camera's .MP4 is flawed. Not sure, but Corel hates it!
Hope this helps some people either before of after the sale!
UPDATE: Magix Movie Edit Pro 14 handles the .mp4 files from this camera GREAT! Before you can import however, you have to go to the help menu and select "activate additional functions" and add MPEG-4, follow the easy steps and the codec or whatever will be added and you're ready. Magix Movie Edit Pro 14 is a SUPER program with one of the best user interfaces I have ever seen.

It's better than my EasyShare
I don't recommend it to anyone. I tried to get pictures of my son's first time in the snow and ALL of the pictures are blurry. Thanks for the lasting memories!
The camera takes forever to snap the picture, so by the time it actually captures the image the moment is gone (even when the flash is off). I can't tell you how many pictures of backs of heads and animals running away I have.

Not Pleased
I have had the Black version and I loved it and it worked perfect! I ended up losing that one and I bought the red one thinking it was the same thing in a different color, and I was sorely mistaken. I had it for 2 weeks and it started freezing while taking pictures and reviewing pictures that I had taken. I contacted the seller about this and they have not done anything about it in 3 weeks. I am very disappointed in this product and this seller. I would not recommend buying this product. and if you do get the balck one because it is a different model number and works amazing!

Great camera for the price. The only thing I do not like is the 10 second delay for shooting pictures and you have to load the manual information on your PC to really get the whole picture. A little too complicated for just wanting a point and shoot. Otherwise a great picture

Right Price...But out of foucs
I needed an upgrade after lugging around a bulkly Sony 3.2 Megapixel camera to Vegas. It was obvious that my camera was outdated and wanted to find a camera with more punch that fit in my pocket...Insert the Samsung L200. For the price, value and features it was an easy decision. I had an event in a low-lit venue and after some practice shots, I was able to take some nice, clear photos. But, the biggest issue I keep running into is that if there is even the slightest motion, the shot would be out of focus. I tired the Stability feature, and it was slow and didn't make much of a difference. My old Sony was able to take pictures from a moving car, this one, I haven't been able to (not when I'm driving of course!). Has only one else had this issue?

Problem I encountered
I purchased this camera a week ago and the first day i got it, it worked pretty well and then once I had a handful of pictures on the camera I noticed the camera would freeze up when browsing and you would have to remove the battery to start the camera again. Then I tried a couple more times and if it didnt freeze the same pictures would say "File Error" and this actually happened with 20% of the pictures I had so i would be very cautious and think twice before going through with this purchase. The features and everything else was awesome but I just couldnt have a camera that would have errors on photos i had taken and force me to delete them as well as have the camera freeze up. So think twice before buying if you want to take the risk of getting the same problems as I did

Question : How do you capture color light with a Samsung S730 digital camera?
I have a samsung s730 7.2 digital camera and I was wondering how to capture a great light scene at night? I know how to use the different modes for different scenes but at night even with right mode the picture comes out blury or too bright with the flash. If i am taking pictures of different color lights such as a blue lighting or red or something how do I capture the color in the picture without it coming out too blury?
Answer:
u need a long exposure, and because of long exposure time you may not move the camera, and do not use flash. You will then get the light from the streets lights or whatever else is around... expect to get diff colors, reds and oranges .... get a tripod, will not be able to hand hold at such long exposure settings

Question : Where can I find a good repair shop for my new Samsung digital camera in Morocco?
On extended vacation in Casablanca, Morocco. My new Samsung digitial camera I bought in the States has quite working and keeps saying low battery even when new batteries are put in. Also the focus has turned blurry. Cant seem to find anyone to repair or even understand the problem. It cost §80 new US cash to buy a new one here would be close to §200 for the same model, not an option. Any help would be greatly appreciated, a trip with no pictures would be really sad!
Answer:
Forget it, just buy a new camera! That is what being a good little consumer is all about!
Buy a$200 camera, In your case get it for $80 in another country and when it breaks its cost $200 to send it to be fixed (not to mention the BS and run around). You see finding a shop that fixes small electronics is impossible, there just is not enough pay on the investment for people to that anymore, you will just have to send it in and deal the inconvenience!
Or Buy a new Camera!
Things today are designed not to last and be very expensive, sorry!

Question : how to take picture of a moon whith my samsung digital camera?
someone help me??? i want to take picture of a moon
camera i have :
samsung S750
zoom-5.8-17.4mm 3X optical zoom
have ASR (advance shake reduction)
7.2 megapixel
i have paint shop pro X2
picasa
tripod
Answer:
The moon will be quite small with your lenses focal length which is not much longer that a medium telephoto used to take portraits.
Even using my 500 mm on my D300, the moon only fills about 1/5th of the frame.
I don't know how you plan on setting the camera to the sunny 16 rule setting for exposing the moon properly. At ISO 100, you could hand hold the camera at 1/400th second @ f/8 with the camera set at infinity and get nearly perfect exposures.
If you attempt to use the auto-exposure, auto-focus features of your camera, you are likely only to get a white hole in the sky and a lot of camera movement, because the auto-exposure will be trying to expose for the night sky, not the moon

Question : Change image size on samsung bl103 digital camera?
I just got a samsung camera and when taking pictures they come out HUGE...How do I change the setting so the pictures take a little smaller?
Answer:
NO, no, no, no, no - don't EVER do that!!!
You should never EVER set your camera to anything less than best quality (i.e. lowest compression rate) and biggest size (highest resolution).
The reasons for that include:
1) If you have a good, large photo, you can crop it more later on without losing too much detail if you really have to.
2) If you happen to take the best photo you ever took, you'll be able to print it at a large size. If you lowered size and quality, you'd be kicking yourself.
3) If you decide later you really don't want to keep a big file, it is very easy to down-size it in post processing - but you can't go the other way, you can't invent pixels that weren't there in the first place.
4) Memory cards are cheap, so are bigger hard drives. There is NO reason to do anything less than the best.

Question : Wth is the macro function on the s760 samsung digital camera?
I know what it does but it doesn't seem to do anything here, am I missing something or is that just a scam function?
Answer:
It is supposed to allow the camera to focus at closer distances. Focus as close as you can then switch to macro mode and try to focus closer. If you succeed then it is working fine.

Question : Can anyone tell me about the Samsung L200 digital camera?
It looks like a great camera for the price ($150). 10.2 MP, 2.5 inch LCD, but only 3x optical zoom. Anyone have one? Are you happy with it? And what is the reputation of Samsung cameras in general? Thanks.
Answer:
It uses a lithium ion battery, which is good. It's got optical image stabilization, which is good. It looks good for the price.
