awesome camera....(for the beginner photographer)
hmmm...i was buying those diposable cameras for the longest time. i hated spending all that money on a camera, wasting gas, developing the film and finally end up with pictures that got blurred, blacked out or just something wrong that if i had seen before, i woulnt have developed it to begin with...so i went on a mission to find a digital camera and was into something cheap, not knowing what to expect. i found this at wal-mart...that is an awesome store...it was the cheapest ONE THERE!! i was excited right when i opened the box. it came with batteries, so i put them in and at first it didnt work..then i found out the batteries were in wrong and that i had to turn it on..heh heh oh well ive had the camera for close to a year now and im glad this was my first digital..i love it to death..i just find myself looking for something slimmer.. cause even though they say you can fit it in a pocket. heh YEAH maybe a purse or a jncos pocket... but overall this is an AWESOME camera, worth more than its value. i would recommend this to everyone who loves, just taking pictures of friends and family and arent too seriously into photography... if youre looking for something simple, cheap, easy menus, and worth keeping ...BUY THIS CAMERA...NOW!!! ESPECIALLY if its your first one... trust me...it wont dissapoint!! :)

Good for the price...
I needed a camera with higher resolution that wasn't too expensive. I searched a lot. Chose this because it was the best price for the resolution. I certainly wasn't disappointed. True, the zoom is only 2x. However everything else was great. Took some nice wedding pics. The short..if your pocket is deep, get something with more zoom and better resolution. If not, then this is a good buy for the price and features.

Good camera for the price
I got this camera for about $110 a month ago, and it's been a pretty good camera (probably one of the best for its price). It's a standard 2.0 megapixel good for taking everyday photos and such. It's also a pretty small camera so you can take it wherever. There are three focus modes: one for up-close pictures (so they won't be blurry), one for portrait pictures, and one for landscape. I've been using rechargeable batteries and the camera doesn't eat them up as fast as I would expect. The LCD screen is about 1.6" across, and it's sharp and clear. The only complaints I have is that there is no lens cover, and you have to hold the camera in place for a second or so after taking the picture or else it will come out blurry. Overall, the Samsung Digimax 201 is a simple, easy-to-use camera.

The L73 allows the use of the optical 3x zoom to get closer to the subject while still recording. This offers a camcorder-like recording experience. The L73 supports SVGA quality (800x592 20fps) for an enhanced video shooting experience. You can even edit your movies on the camera itself, making it brilliantly portable. This mode is used to select and cut desired scenes from a recorded movie, and save the scenes. The mode is very convenient because editing a movie can occur within the camera itself, immediately after recording the movie. A special Red-eye Fix algorithm on the camera automatically eliminates red-eye from your pictures. When viewing the images on the LCD, it is possible to listen to music provided by the camera or add special effects to the images to be displayed on the LCD. I love this camera!!!
I bought my L73 about 6 months ago and i have nothing but good to say about it!! It takes wonderful pictures, i especially love the "ASR" Auto Shake Reduction feature. As sometimes you know its hard to be steady at sporting events etc. The software that comes with it is very easy and self read. As far as battery life goes to me it is awsome as well. This is my 3rd digital camera as i have ad a hp, a fuji and now this Samsung and this one wins by far!! Anyways I would not hesitate for one minute to reccomend for someone to purchase this camera!!

Video doesn't cut it.
I just got this camera and didn't have much time to play with it so I can't write a detailed review, but I thought it warranted noting about the video portion of the camera because I didn't see it in any of the other raving reviews. When you zoom while videoing you lose all sound. This stinks. I depend on my camera for all videoing of my kids. I don't have a camcorder. I take video of my kid's school performances constantly, most of which involve singing and music. So, when I noticed this issue with the video sound I immediately packed it up and am returning it. I can't have the sound just cutting in and out when I'm zooming for a close-up. Also, the zoom is only 5x. I currently have a Canon S2 IS which blows this camera away with 12x zoom. The only reason I wanted a new camera is because the Canon is so big and bulky. I wanted to have a camera that would fit easily in my purse so I could have it with me always. Not worth the sacrifice though. I'll stick with my big Canon.

An improved version of the popular A6, with a large 7 megapixel image sensor, the A7 camera boasts features, function and crystal clear images at an economical price point. In addition to still picture true color and quality sharpness, you get a built-in VGA 30 frames per second movie clip. Plus, it provides an hour of voice recording time with 10 seconds for a voice memo in still images. This camera also has a self-portrait mirror, which allows you to check how you look before you shoot your own image.More super-convenient features include: a double self timer, which goes off after 10 seconds followed by 2 second intervals thereafter; a shutter button which toggles between capture and playback modes (a great innovation to instantly review your images); and another one-touch button that allows you to take charge with manual, aperture priority and shutter priority modes.Choose between eight image sizes from 640 x 480 pixels to 3072 x 2304 pixels and from three resolution ranges - superfine, fine and normal - that's 24 different resolution/size combinations, a useful memory management tool. For example, you can take a postage stamp size picture from only 1.6 inches away in high resolution for wonderful color printing output, or a large, but lower resolution landscape picture for full-screen sharing without choking friends' e-mail.Samsung's in-camera editing capabilities allow you to crop, rotate, and make numerous color revisions to your images.

Consider a Sony Cybershot for the money you will spend on this one!
I bought this camera thinking wow 7 mega pixels. This has been the worse digital camera I have owned yet! The video is absolutely unuseable to say the least. No sound and very poor picture. The quality of the photos is certainly NOT 7 mega pixels in my own opinion. I told my 10 year old she could have this camera for her very own and went and bought myself a Sony 10.1 mega pixel Cybershot, and she comes and gets the Sony when she wants to take a picture or make videos. If you are seriously considering purchasing the Samsung, please by all means reconsider!!! You would love the Sony 10.1 mp Cybershot and the video quality is just as good as a camcorder! Don't waste your money on this Samsung camera!

Fairly high quality camera for the price.
I've been using mine for about a year and a half now, and have been quite pleased with the general quality and range of available features. I use mine with a 256MB memory card, which significantly limits the camera's use for taking video clips, but with a 1GB card this should not be much of an issue. The combination of optical and digital zoom allows you to blow up selected portions of a longer range picture without compromising the quality of the image, although your ability to do this on a lower resolution is obviously not going to be as great. I normally don't use the full 7MP capacity simply to allow a larger number of photos between downloads, but it's nice to know it's there when I need it. Definitely not a bad camera for the price. On the down side, I would note that this seems a bit fragile. I had to send mine to have the lens barrel replaced within the one-year warranty period, despite not having dropped it or otherwise abused it.

Great value!
I have had great luck with this camera. I love it. I have used it for better than a year now. I do wish that photos could be taken more quickly without the lag time for the flash to recharge, and have struggled with turing out a good photo in low light situations despite what I have tried. BUT I only paid $200.00 and for that price it has exceeded my expectations. In most situations, photo quality is great. Recently I took some photographs of my children in the sepia mode and framed them. My brother wanted to know which local photographer took them. We'll thank the camera and Costco developing for that... Kudos to this camera!

I don't have much to add to what others have written, but I have dropped this camera quite a few times, and aside from a few minor scratches on the case, no harm was done. Highly recommended!

This is the best camera I've ever owned. It takes very clear, crisp pictures and with the 1 gig memory card I put in it I can get about 45 min of very clear video of my new granddaughter. I would recomend this camera to anyone that wants to take photos like a professional with a low price tag.

Samsung Digimax 800k
I bought this camera because it was the cheapest in the local store. I wanted it only to take photos for uploading ...for use on my web page. At first I wasn't impressed, the image quality wasn't very good and the camera went through Duracell batteries at an incredible speed making it very expensive to run. Now I have got used to it, I actually quite like it! I can usually judge if the light is OK and a good image will result. Good points: Cheap, small and easy to use. Capable of reasonable images if light is right. Bad points: You cannot see the images until you have loaded them into the computer so you don't know if your pictures are any good. But then that's what I am used to with film cameras anyway. Battery life is a real problem (see below). Tips: Buy a smart media card reader for your computer and don't use the serial transfer. This will vastly prolong battery life. Buy some rechargeable NiMh AA cells and a charger. They will repay their cost in no time at all. I want to get a bigger smart media card (the 2mb one that comes with the camera only holds 15 images). The information I have seen is contradictory on the subject. Some of it says 16mB is the maximum and some says there is no limit (assuming 128mB max). I guess I'll buy a big card and try it unless someone can confirm that it won't work?

Be realistic
Bought my camera 2 years ago and I'm quite impressed with the results, considering the low investment. My advise for you is `be realistic'. This camera produces excellent pictures for internet and presentations, but should not be your choice if you want to print pictures. A pair of good-quality alkaline batteries will deliver c 100 non-flash shots. A 8 mb card (+ the 2 mb one that comes with the camera) will allow you to shot c 90 - 100 pictures. Buy a USB card reader to download pictures to your PC; don't use the serial cable as it exhausts batteries. Once downloaded, I prefer not to view my pictures in the full screen mode; the pictures look better when smaller in the screen. The in-built flash will deliver mediocre results and drain your batteries; this camera works much better with good lightening. But be careful with over exposed objects. The photo editing software is more than sufficient for domestic work i.e. adjusting colour and brightness. Don't waste your money buying another (over-functioned) software unless you want to give a `professional' touch in your pictures. This camera does not have zoom lens nor LCD screen to help you to preview your shots, but this is not a problem at all. Don't get disappointed if your first pictures are not as good as you expected. Give you time to learn how Digimax works and you'll be amazed with the results that 0.8 megapixels can deliver.

for beginners?
After reading the review of this camera I decdied to go and buy one. Afterall they are [onexpensive] and apparently reliable. I also bout 32 expensive batteries thinking they would last me a while. They lasted less than 3 days. Now, it would be logical to assume that I took a huge amount of pictures but you would be wrong.
The total number of pictures I took was just under 100. 16 times the batteries were changed as the camera kept flashing "battery low" and turning itself off on me right in the middle of a shot. Batteries aside, let me mention the quality of the pictures. Oh my god do not move and make sure you have the lighting perfect. The slightest shake and your picture is ruined and if the lighting is wrong you can just imagine. Also, there is actually 2 settings for the camera. One I assume is for close up and one is for further away. I read and re-read the manual and although it says to change the setting back after using the macro setting, what "beginner" knows what a macro picture is? The manual fails to explain what the actual difference is between the 2 settings. It just states that if you don't turn the setting back your pictures will be blurry. Problem is that they are blurry a lot anyway. This camera, once your batteries have been replaced and you have found the perfect light, providing you have the camera setting on the right one the picture quality can be quite good. A few turned out like mirror images- bear in mind I say a few kindly. I personally, as well as my friends and family, agree that this camera is [inexpensive] at first but after you buy the adaptor or the constant supply of batteries you need, it does work out quite expensive. I would estimate that you can expect to get one good picture to every 4 taken, and one great one to every 12+. I guess this is a case of you get what you pay for!

Why all the negativity??
I dont understand why so many people are bagging this camera. I have had mine for a couple of months now and honestly, I couldnt be happier. I knew I wasnt buying a professional digital camera with all the bells and whistles of a more [costly] one but for what I paid for it, it has not disappointed me. Sure it has its downsides to it. The amount of batteries it goes through is a bit disappointing but I have found if I buy the really [less costly] ones they only last for maybe about 7-8 photos. I buy the slightly more [costly] ones which last a lot longer. For downloading, I use rechargable batteries as they give it the life it needs to download all 14-15 pics without a hassel. It is by no means a 'serious' digital camera for professionals, but for a beginner like me its fantastic. For me it gives great photos in all conditions provided you follow some basic photographic principles. My wife used it the other day to photograph a friends house being built and she came back with some fantastic shots (my wife and cameras generally do not like each other). With a bit of practice and image manipulation after downloading (the software that comes with it has all those features) the photos turn out really well. The bottom line is this: if you want a camera that takes sharp, crisp professional looking photos, then buy one that has everything and spend a lot of money. But, if you want to try out the world of digital photography, then this camera is an ideal beginners camera. Practice using the camera in all types of light, either invest in a imaging program like adobe photoshop or download some fantastic free imaging programs from the internet for free. If you do your homework, then there is no reason why this camera wont give you great looking photos, unless off course you dont have the patients to practice in which case youd be better off with a point and shoot instamatic camera.

Not Bad for the Money
Batteries seem to be everyones biggest problem. I bough some NiMh rechargeable batteries that will last for at least 80 pictures on a single charge. When I upload pictures on the computer I use an adapter since it does use a lot of battery power. It takes great outdoor photos. Indoor photos don't work out too well. It doesn't have an LCD screen, but if in doubt, you can just take another since it doesn't cost anything anyway. If you're going to use it mostly for viewing on a computer and for sending by Email it is great. For printing photos it's not high enough resolution.

Question : How do you capture color light with a Samsung S730 digital camera?
I have a samsung s730 7.2 digital camera and I was wondering how to capture a great light scene at night? I know how to use the different modes for different scenes but at night even with right mode the picture comes out blury or too bright with the flash. If i am taking pictures of different color lights such as a blue lighting or red or something how do I capture the color in the picture without it coming out too blury?
Answer:
u need a long exposure, and because of long exposure time you may not move the camera, and do not use flash. You will then get the light from the streets lights or whatever else is around... expect to get diff colors, reds and oranges .... get a tripod, will not be able to hand hold at such long exposure settings

Question : How do you set the timer on a Samsung D75 digital camera?!?
Hi! I have a samsung D75 digital camera and I always need to use the timer option, but I dont know how to set it up so it works! Please, if you know, tell me how because its driving me mad! Thank you! Have a good day.
Answer:
The round dial on the back of your camera has the self-timer function. It's the icon that looks like a circle or clock. It has a line through it (or the second hand in a clock). While in recording/shooting mode you should be able to press it and it will give you a 2 sec. or 10 sec. timer option. Then just press the shutter button to get the timer started.
Alternatively, have a look in pages 8 and, in particular, page 27 of your user manual for help in using the self timer.
If you don't have the user manual, you can download it in the link below...

Question : how long do samsung digital camera batteries last?
i just bought a samsung digital camera today at circuit city, and just after a while its battery power became very low. i tried to change batteries, but the other ones don't work. i keep trying to figure out how the battery became so low when i just bought it today! and sometimes when i was taking pictures to test it out, it would just shut off or turn on itself. does anyone know why?
Answer:
When you buy a new camera, mobile phone or something like that, you have to charge it for 4-5 hours. Then you must use it.
There are different batteries. "AAA" or "AA" and so on. The little one is "AAA". pay attention to it.
And try to use rechargebale batteries. Yeah, they are more expensive than others, but it will last nearly 2-3 year. (you have to give it energy day-by-day)
And dont forget, if there appears any problem, You may contact to "shop sale or technic manager".

Question : What memory card is needed for a Samsung L200 digital camera?
I have a san disk 256 mg, would that work with a samsung camera?
Answer:
This camera uses an SD memory card, you don't say what type of memory card your San Disk card is so I can't tell you if it will work or not.
If it's a small, thin rectangle and says 'SD' on the bottom left then it will work with your camera. If its a square and says 'CF' then it will not work.
Hope this helps.

Question : Did anyone else buy the Samsung D53 digital camera at Walmart? How does Samsung compare with Polaroid?
This must have been a Walmart exclusive because it's not listed on the Samsung web site as a model. Does anyone know how this camera would compare with the Polaroid A700 which was on sale at Kmart? Any opinions on who might make the best inexpense digital camera--Samsung or Polaroid? I do know that the Samsung is very confusing to use out of the box. There are many features but a steep learning curve on figuring out how to use them.
Answer:
Neither.
I don't know how much retailers are advertising these for, but if Canon, Olympus, Fuji or Kodak had one within $100, I would opt for one of those and consider it money well spent.
I use a Samsung digicam at work for taking passport photos and it is completely unimpressive. Polaroid spent a lot of time in bankruptcy, and is behind on the digital curve.
Good luck in finding the right camera.
BTW, if you are switching from a film camera, ALL digicams have a steep learning curve!
