The Samsung S860 is a high-resolution digital camera that is equipped with a true-color filtered 8.1-Megapixel CCD. This allows the Samsung S860 to take detailed photos for printing up to poster size. With the Face Detection AF & AE function, the Samsung S860 enables the user to take better portrait pictures more easily. This function detects faces and automatically focuses on them. The brightness of the faces is adjusted optimally for beautiful portrait pictures. In macro shooting, it is now possible to take clear, natural pictures. Digital Image Stabilization (DIS) technology prevents the degradation of image clarity and color, which is sometimes found in flash photography. With DIS the effects of image blur are reduced in lower light conditions. You can even take well-exposed, sharper pictures in low light conditions without using a flash at all, which guarantees brighter and more natural pictures. The different icons, scene modes and other features are described in simple and easy to understand terms to improve the interaction between the user and camera. ISO - Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1000 Flash Modes - Auto, Auto & Red-eye reduction, Fill-in flash, Slow sync, and Flash off Range - Wide 0.3m - 4.0m and Tele 0.5m - 2.1m (ISO AUTO) Self-timer - 2 seconds and 10 seconds Still Image File Format - JPEG (DCF), EXIF 2.2, and DPOF 1.1 Scene Modes - Children, Landscape, Close-up, Text, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow, and Night System Requirements - Pentium II 450MHz (Pentium 800MHz recommended), Windows 98SE, 2000, ME, XP, Vista, Mac OS 9.2, 10.4 or later, 64MB RAM, 200MB free space, USB port, CD-ROM drive, 1024x768 pixels, 16-bit color display compatible monitor, Microsoft DirectX 9.0C.

Amazing Camera
I LOVE this camera. I have had it now for about 2 or 3 years. It has held up amazingly. That poor camera has been dropped, gotten wet, banged around in my purse(with no case) and still takes pictures as good as the day I got it. The price was very affordable. I would recomend camera to anyone.

Pretty Good, Some Issues
I purchased this at walmart two years ago. All in all it was an alright camera, but I had some problems with it.
Pros: -I liked how you could choose to take pictures in different hues such as black and white, sepia, blue, red, and green. - The camera is small, so it fits just about anywhere. - The colors ( I have black) are nice, I would have chosen red, but they were out of stock. -The price is good. It was about $99.00 when I purchased it, and I'm sure it has gone down since then.
Cons: -The zoom goes up to 5.0, which is alright, but most of the pictures I took with zoom came out very blurry, and even with extra editing they were still a little unclear. - Maybe it's just the color, but the black seemed to have rubbed off in places, and left white smudges. I tried to color over with them with permanent marker, but it wiped off after a few days. - If you get this camera I suggest you buy a set of rechargeable batteries. The camera sucks regular one-time use batteries dry, and it was annoying to keep buying more batteries after a short period of time.
All in all it was an alright camera, but not the best.

Customer Review :
Terrible Image quality, don't be fooled
What a disappointment.
First, I'll note that the 8 megapixel version of this camera is selling for $129 on amazon as I write this.. and I wouldn't buy that one either, though it looks like the same camera with an upgraded chip... then again, it could be worse since their Megapixel ratings are misleading at best.
I felt samsung was probably a decent brand based on some of their other kinds of products, but no. I've had a lot of experience with photography over the years, am no amateur, but was looking for a competent, inexpensive snapshot camera which used SD cards and AA batteries, and in a pinch would take video at a decent resolution.
This ain't it, but I'm stuck with it.
The worst thing is that even though rated at 7.2 megapixels, its images are MUCH worse than the 3.2mp olympus I had previously. Even at the highest quality image settings you can see the grainy color pixelation artifacts even on the 2.4" screen of the camera!
The audio drops out unpredictably during the shooting of video, and the video itself is choppy, poor quality, and eats memory since it's MPEG2. Useless, and looks much worse than MPEG4 somehow.
And it wouldn't format the SD card I initially bought. A call to Samsung tech support gave me the news that they only guarantee it to work AT ALL with sandisk brand memory cards, so I had to eat the price of the card I had and order an expensive sandisk card.
The screen is viewable, and based on that I'd say the camera is worth about $30, but to a kid, not to anyone who wants to seriously save their pictures.
This was obviously designed from the ground up as a camera meant to sell for a tiny fraction of its fictitious "retail price", and I assume that's the case with the 800 model too. Beware.

Works fine for me
I use Duracell's Rechargeable 2650 mAh batteries with this camera and it works GREAT! It lasts about 500 pictures or so. I recommend the Powerex MH-C204W Worldwide 1-hr Conditioning Travel Charger for high mAh batteries b/c you can condition and rejuvenate the batteries after a number of charges. It also subjects aged batteries to a conditioning algorithm that first fully drains the batteries and then recharges them so that it'll perform as if new.
Anyhow, this camera is wonderful: 7.2 mp is plenty enough for me - I don't take pictures worth selling so the resolution is perfect for everyday memories. I love the macro feature for close-up photos and the auto focus feature (lightly tapping the snap button once before pressing it again to take the photo) is really helpful. I also use this for my real estate agent's listing pictures and it does very well indoors or a cloudy day. I think Samsung could do better with the video capturing however. The sound was choppy and skips if you zoom in/out while recording. But oh well, I think a camcorder should be its separate entity anyway. It's fairly light - the batteries make up most of it's weight. Transfering photos onto my computer is simple, fast and easy. I have a perfect pre-cut screen protector on it so no worries there. It didn't come with a case but I got a cheap, perfect-fit Case Logic case at Target for $3.99 w/a hidden slot for extra batteries and it fits in my coat pocket.

Great 7mp camera
Pros:
The images from this camera are great. It is small and lightweight and easily fits in a pocket. Many editing features Full movie mode with audio Well priced Many custom scene modes
Cons: Definitely use nimh batteries with this - they will last a long time if you do - do not use alkaline with them. No image stabilization but for this price it is still a great deal.

MUCH better than given credit for!
This is a very solid camera for the price. I have taken some pretty excellent pictures, including some that I have blown up to 16 X 20. This camera gives more manual freedom than nearly any other in its class, it takes good pictures in the auto mode as well.
For the money, this is an excellent camera.

great camer [im not a kid]
[im not a kid i just didnt wanna go through all the stuff to review] ok well i love my camera it takes exalent picture great quality and durable.. it does have some cons..
cons:
1.eats batteries like woah..might wanna try reachareable ones 2.sometime after using it for a while (on) when you go to take a picture it will shut and freeze on you..i think it is because the batteries are starting to get low and when i change the batteries it works fine..
pros:
1.picture quality is great(as long as you dont move much)[depending on setting] 2.cool setting to have fun with 3.can be in black and white, red, green, blue, sepia, and negative. 4.durable.. i dropped it a cople time and nothing happened. 5>GREAT VIDEO QUALITY..I WAS AMAZED AT HOW GREAT THE VIDEO IS. 6. audio playback 7. easy to use...

Awesome
I travel a lot so this camera is perfect for me. Awesome camera! Mine was stolen recently so I'm buying another one of the same kind because this is such a good camera! Compact size is great for travel and still takes fantastic pictures! Even has a micro lens feature that can take pictures of the smallest bugs. I use the MP3 player feature on long plane flights. Battery lasts a really long time. The only problem I experienced with the camera was when the lens cover wouldn't close. I could of sent it in, but I realized that it was some little particle blocking the cover. So I blew into the lens and voila! It closed. Also, like all Samsung products, the interface is very user friendly. Highly recommended!

A multimedia camera that does just about everything well, that seems to have never caught on...
I gave this camera to my daughter and watched her have her creative adventures with it until she lost it. I really think one of her acquaintances stole it. I then bought the NV4, which is essentially the same camera with a little higher resolution. This is a lot like an iPod that takes pics and videos. A way cool camera that I think Samsung has discontinued...

Don't Waste Your Time
I bought this camera 8 months ago when my Kodak EasyShare died three days after my first child was born. For $100 I figured I couldn't really go wrong. Oh, but was I was ever.
Others have mentioned the battery issue. The Duracell it comes with died in a matter of four hours. I had two options, scour my hometown for the $20 replacement or drop $60 on a rechargable.
At first it seemed like a great product, sleek design, tiny enough to slide into a jeans pocket, huge screen... I was in camera heaven until I really began to notice how the photos were turning out. The color/lighting balance on this little monstrosity is lacking at best. It hates indoor photos with a seething passion (regardless of how I set the different functions and sensitivities) and the only way you're going to get that perfect shot is if you have unyielding patience and TONS of bright, perfect lighting.
Having years and years of both traditional and digital photography experience, I can tell you with utmost assuredness that I wasn't doing anything wrong (that I could tell.)
The camera is very slow and the shutter speed is even worse. Don't for a moment expect to be able to take a crisp photo with the flash off. I've had endless frustration with this camera's quality and was especially shocked to realize my cheap Kodak was amazing comparatively.
Today, nine months after purchase, the focus died. Now the camera turns on, but when you attempt to depress the shutter to bring your image into focus, it just makes a horrible grinding noise. The mechanism is obviously bust, but I can't say I'm disappointed. It gives me an excuse to buy myself a nice new one... Maybe another Kodak, I'm thinking ;)

Battery problem
I can't really say much about the picture quality because once the battery runs out you're in trouble. Theyr'e very hard to find, very expensive, and don't last very long. If you buy this camera, consider the nessecity of paying $70 for the also hard to find rechargeable battery. (Seriously, samsung should refund everyone who bought this since you can't use it.)

Great camera with many features
I recently purchased this camera and a fuji NP-60 charger and battery for the camera that interchanges with the Samsung camera. The camera's LCD can be viewed very clearly when held at the right angle. The camera has so many features that it will take some time just for me to learn all of them. The camera has: 5x digital zoom, 2sec,10sec and double self timer, voice memo recording with photo, movie clip recording with sound, still image photo mode, self portrait mirror to take your own photo, 9 photo frames to insert photos , day, night, cloudy, exposure compensation, sharpness and image quality adjustments, photo rotator, copy to SD card, and many other features. It is small enough to carry in your pocket, or on your belt with the pouch provided. I am very satisfied with the camera after previously owning an HP digital camera.

iam sorry i ever bought this camera
dont buy this camera the main problem real simply said it the battery life sucks and it is also a hard item to find(battery) good luck i dont even use mine any more just for that reason.and yes i can buy a rechargeable but iam not in the market to spend $70 for it.

Hate it!
I hate this Camera. It's never worked quite right since day one. It's impossible to get a good shot because it's so slow. You can not use the zoom feature. The pictures come out soo blurry. Cropping is a joke. The screen locks up when scrolling through pictures. I have a $15 fuji that takes better shots than this one. If this was a $20 camera I would probably rate it higher. No way is it worth more than that.

Questions & Answers
Question : Change image size on samsung bl103 digital camera?
I just got a samsung camera and when taking pictures they come out HUGE...How do I change the setting so the pictures take a little smaller?
Answer:
NO, no, no, no, no - don't EVER do that!!!
You should never EVER set your camera to anything less than best quality (i.e. lowest compression rate) and biggest size (highest resolution).
The reasons for that include:
1) If you have a good, large photo, you can crop it more later on without losing too much detail if you really have to.
2) If you happen to take the best photo you ever took, you'll be able to print it at a large size. If you lowered size and quality, you'd be kicking yourself.
3) If you decide later you really don't want to keep a big file, it is very easy to down-size it in post processing - but you can't go the other way, you can't invent pixels that weren't there in the first place.
4) Memory cards are cheap, so are bigger hard drives. There is NO reason to do anything less than the best.

Question : Did anyone else buy the Samsung D53 digital camera at Walmart? How does Samsung compare with Polaroid?
This must have been a Walmart exclusive because it's not listed on the Samsung web site as a model. Does anyone know how this camera would compare with the Polaroid A700 which was on sale at Kmart? Any opinions on who might make the best inexpense digital camera--Samsung or Polaroid? I do know that the Samsung is very confusing to use out of the box. There are many features but a steep learning curve on figuring out how to use them.
Answer:
Neither.
I don't know how much retailers are advertising these for, but if Canon, Olympus, Fuji or Kodak had one within $100, I would opt for one of those and consider it money well spent.
I use a Samsung digicam at work for taking passport photos and it is completely unimpressive. Polaroid spent a lot of time in bankruptcy, and is behind on the digital curve.
Good luck in finding the right camera.
BTW, if you are switching from a film camera, ALL digicams have a steep learning curve!

Question : Can anyone tell me about the Samsung L200 digital camera?
It looks like a great camera for the price ($150). 10.2 MP, 2.5 inch LCD, but only 3x optical zoom. Anyone have one? Are you happy with it? And what is the reputation of Samsung cameras in general? Thanks.
Answer:
It uses a lithium ion battery, which is good. It's got optical image stabilization, which is good. It looks good for the price.

Question : How do you set the timer on a Samsung D75 digital camera?!?
Hi! I have a samsung D75 digital camera and I always need to use the timer option, but I dont know how to set it up so it works! Please, if you know, tell me how because its driving me mad! Thank you! Have a good day.
Answer:
The round dial on the back of your camera has the self-timer function. It's the icon that looks like a circle or clock. It has a line through it (or the second hand in a clock). While in recording/shooting mode you should be able to press it and it will give you a 2 sec. or 10 sec. timer option. Then just press the shutter button to get the timer started.
Alternatively, have a look in pages 8 and, in particular, page 27 of your user manual for help in using the self timer.
If you don't have the user manual, you can download it in the link below...

Question : Wth is the macro function on the s760 samsung digital camera?
I know what it does but it doesn't seem to do anything here, am I missing something or is that just a scam function?
Answer:
It is supposed to allow the camera to focus at closer distances. Focus as close as you can then switch to macro mode and try to focus closer. If you succeed then it is working fine.

Question : I have a samsung digital camera and the lcd screen is cracked where can i get it fixed and for how much?
the camera is only 2 weeks old and the make of it is samsung digimax A503 with a 2" lcd screen.
Answer:
fly to japan, have a great time, take an ordinary camera you are sure of. good luck. I hate didgital cameras, they do not photo correctly. If you look close, you will see. Cannot beat an ordinary point and shoot, mind you, you have to have a mind behind the eye.

Question : how to take picture of a moon whith my samsung digital camera?
someone help me??? i want to take picture of a moon
camera i have :
samsung S750
zoom-5.8-17.4mm 3X optical zoom
have ASR (advance shake reduction)
7.2 megapixel
i have paint shop pro X2
picasa
tripod
Answer:
The moon will be quite small with your lenses focal length which is not much longer that a medium telephoto used to take portraits.
Even using my 500 mm on my D300, the moon only fills about 1/5th of the frame.
I don't know how you plan on setting the camera to the sunny 16 rule setting for exposing the moon properly. At ISO 100, you could hand hold the camera at 1/400th second @ f/8 with the camera set at infinity and get nearly perfect exposures.
If you attempt to use the auto-exposure, auto-focus features of your camera, you are likely only to get a white hole in the sky and a lot of camera movement, because the auto-exposure will be trying to expose for the night sky, not the moon
