samsung s85 compared to my fuji "NOT" but ok
I have had it for 25 days and was thinking about sending it back ,,, I'm going to keep it , The rechargeble batteries are a big $$$ saver for any AA camera especially a battery hog of a cammera. I also had issues w/ it shutting down randomly upon attempting to take photo ,,Problem was powersave options turned on or set to low of a time , 2-3 of them were turned completely off and Hark NO more shutdowns. But,,, man she sucks the power out of a set of ANY type way tooo fast!! People are not complaing as SOMEONE stated ,, There stating a fact. I had a fuji finepix a2650 for 7 yrs , 2.1 MP worked excellent and batteries seemed to last forever. It had a 16 mb xD pic card and it was my only complaint it was propietary to the fuji. I'm sad that died last month while taking pics of my new deck, I was going to get another fuji but don't want those battery packs that require a special charger and cost 1/2 as much as a camera for 1 set of bat. and a charger. i wanted a camera for $100-125 $ bottomline! the s85 takes excellent pictures and is very flexilbe in what it can do. A 2gb sd pic card last forver w/ pics only and can take some nice video w/ sound.I bought a 2 gb and 1 gig card and have not used the 1 g yet no need seems like unlimted room on the 2 gb. It is a very nice camera for $111.00 delivered to my door . the colors are neat and the negative exposure is cool , the manual pretty much Sucks and is vague at best, Play w/ the setting and get familar/used to it and tour good to go !! I don't think I can do better for the money i paid . Some Zoom pics we took amazed me . Also I compared it to a fuji a820 we have at work and it was much better than the fuji . It (s85) takes nice macro pics and the zoom pics were 1000 % better than the fuji a820 , It (the fuji) is not that old and is already making funny grinding noises when zooming in and out. and it won;t take a clear zoom pic at all , i'll keep the samsung and buy another set of rechargeble AA's ,I like it!!!

Awesome camera
I bought this camera June 2008. I read all the reviews, I recommend always reading reviews before buying anything. They are so helpful!!!!!! I too will recommend to buy the recharable batterys and charger. I bought 4 batterys that came with the charger. The camera takes Double AA Batterys. Then you have extra batterys with you when you need them. Also I recommend buying a sandisk 2.0GB memory card, as the camera has only enough space on it to hold about 8 pictures. The 2.0GB can hold about 400 pictures. Now thats alot of pictures! I'am still learning all the camera does, It's a awesome camera!

So, so disappointed.
I was thrilled to find a reasonably priced camera from a company I used to trust - what a disappointment. After only a couple months of light duty taking pictures of my kids and dogs, it now randomly shuts down regardless of how fresh the batteries are or what I do to try to solve the problems. When it shuts down, sometimes the lens stays open. Right now, I have this camera on my desk, stuck open, dead as a doornail. We tried cleaning the battery contacts but no dice. Google "s85 shuts down" and see that other people have had this problem.

Customer Review :
Excellent Camera!
I had done some research on various brands (ie, Sony, Canon, Nikon, etc). I used resource such as CNET and other review websites to include reviews from product owners that purchased various on-line stores.
After all that, I found that the Samsung i85 looked like a real gem, especially for the price compared with Sony and similar high-end brands.
What I found is that for a basic point & shoot ultracompact cameras, the Samsung i85 has the best bang for the buck.
At first I was concerned about MegaPixels. Then I discovered that that is just a bunch of hype when dealing with these types of cameras. MPs between 6-10 are actually going to give most people way beyond what they need, because even if you print your pictures, you won't find a lot of quality difference. Those with bloated MegaPixel ratings are for serious photographers that plan on making prints from poster to billboard size. for a simple 4x6 or 8x10, you're not going to see any quality difference.
So that led me to my next question about optics. What I liked about this camera is that it surpassed every other. 5x Optical zoom AND 5x Digital zoom = 25 total zoom! All the other cameras were in the 10 to 15 TOTAL zoom. Samsung i85 wins that category.
I also found that the i85 seemed to have one of the largest internal memories to start...190mb vs 15-32mb for the others I was looking at. Samsung i85 wins that category.
Also uses upto 4GB sdcard. *Make sure that it is a regular sd card, I found that the Ultra Fast cards don't seem to work as well. No problems since going to the regular speed card.
Camera takes photos, video, plays mp3, even has a sports photo feature...great for taking pictures of a golf swing.
Big screen, easy to use buttons.
Overall, I'm really pleased with this camera.
ONLY FLAW that I've discovered so far is that you can inadvertently hit the play button to see your pictures which results in the camera turning on, instead of just using the power button. Not sure if its a setting or something I'm doing wrong.

I've been using this camera for past 2 weeks. I'm pretty much satisfied with its performance. It gives blurred images sometimes but otherwise its pretty decent. Its build in media playing capability is really cool.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA YOU WILL REGRET IT FOR YEARS!!!!!!!
This is the WORST PRODUCT with the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! I only gave it one star because I had to, but it does not deserve ANY!!!!! I bought this camera last November and have yet to have a camera that works. I have sent it in FOUR times to be fixed and the last time I sent it in (a month ago) I have STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT BACK!!!!! When I asked for a refund, I was refused and they said that they could only send me a black camera (which after a month of waiting they have not sent me). Each time I sent it in to be fixed it was because it stopped taking pictures after recharging the battery. I cannot believe that Samsung has not refunded my money after they convinced me to buy their piece of GARBAGE!!!!!!! How is it that a company can sell a product that doesn't work and not refund your money after a year of CRAPY SERVICE and HEADACHE? I will NEVER buy a Samsung product again!!!!!

GREAT BUY! UPDATE!! GO TO SEARS.COM TO GET FOR $129 DEAL!!!
I got this camera (red) as a black friday/cyber monday deal [...] and I am completely impressed about the quality of pictures. I have a [...] kodak and I have been looking for a good point and shoot to replace/supplement it. The screen is big, the lcd screen shows a crisp view of the pic with very clear and deep colors. The extra features are really nice too. I'm still exploring them, but, I heard a song on the mp3 mode, the world map/tour thing is really interesting; gives you attraction sites in multiple places around the world, and the video/movie mode looks really really good too. My requirements for a new camera were, at least a 3" lcd, compact size, and good pics. I also tested a Nikon (s52)which was more expensive, had less features and more importantly the pictures were so grainy compared to this one; it was a huge difference. So huge that I realized what a good deal I had gotten and quickly got back online and ordered another one of these for a gift. I'll update after more experience but, just wanted to let people know this is a very good option.

Samsung has hit it Big with this one!
I've been a Samsung Camera lover for a long time. I began with the Digimax S500, then upgraded to Samsung NV3, and now I recently purchased the Samsung i85. I've tried other cameras like the Sony Cybershot DSC S730, but returned it instantly at poor picture quality and lack of image stabilization (Don't be fooled by the SONY brand name, this camera is not good!). Then I bought an Olympus FE-230, and although the picture quality was great and the camera was slim and lightweight, it was too slow at taking pictures for my taste.
After my failed attempts, I bought the Samsung NV3, which is a perfect camera. It takes great pictures, amazing videos with great sound, and you can even hear MP3s on it. After having a successful buy with the Samsun NV3, I decided to upgrade and immediately fell in love with the Samsung i85. This camera has it all. It takes beautiful pictures both inside and outside. It has many features in which you can tweek your camera into taking great pictures despite the horrid conditions outside.
The face recognition function, image stabilization, and ASR function make this camera perfect for portraits and up close and personal pictures. The pictures are so crisp and clear that it makes the worst looking image look beautiful. Videos turn out nice, with great sound quality; however, it is better to take videos in well lit areas. The World Tour guide function seems to be really cool and educational, but I haven't really messed around with that yet.
Moving on, Samsung's i85 is a great camera for those who want great pictures, and don't want to spend too much on a digital camera. Samsung cameras are also very durable and with the internal zoom, you won't have to worry about messing up the lense. Battery life is very good, but I feel that the NV3 has a longer battery life span. The LCD display screen is huge and great for previewing pictures. I do recommend for those who are purchasing this camera to buy it either in silver or black, as they look nicer with time.
Overall, this is a great camera and you'll definitely be content with your purchase!

Great Little Camera - So far I love it...
I bought this camera in July and I have used it on several vacations. The features I like about this camera include the large viewer, the compact size, and the touch screen. The pictures I have taken to date have been great, the camera will compensate for shaking and lighting. Matter of fact, it does pretty much everything a camera can do, including taking videos, recording sound, telephoto, ect. The touch screen is great, you can scroll through your pictures and do camera settings very easily. I am not a camera buff, just a nice lady that likes to take pictures that I can easily download and edit. The negatives have mainly to do with the instruction manual - it is not very user friendly - had to read it a few times to get the gist of how the camera operates. Other than that one item, this camera is worth the price I paid for it and then some.

Question : How do you set the timer on a Samsung D75 digital camera?!?
Hi! I have a samsung D75 digital camera and I always need to use the timer option, but I dont know how to set it up so it works! Please, if you know, tell me how because its driving me mad! Thank you! Have a good day.
Answer:
The round dial on the back of your camera has the self-timer function. It's the icon that looks like a circle or clock. It has a line through it (or the second hand in a clock). While in recording/shooting mode you should be able to press it and it will give you a 2 sec. or 10 sec. timer option. Then just press the shutter button to get the timer started.
Alternatively, have a look in pages 8 and, in particular, page 27 of your user manual for help in using the self timer.
If you don't have the user manual, you can download it in the link below...

Question : How do you capture color light with a Samsung S730 digital camera?
I have a samsung s730 7.2 digital camera and I was wondering how to capture a great light scene at night? I know how to use the different modes for different scenes but at night even with right mode the picture comes out blury or too bright with the flash. If i am taking pictures of different color lights such as a blue lighting or red or something how do I capture the color in the picture without it coming out too blury?
Answer:
u need a long exposure, and because of long exposure time you may not move the camera, and do not use flash. You will then get the light from the streets lights or whatever else is around... expect to get diff colors, reds and oranges .... get a tripod, will not be able to hand hold at such long exposure settings

Question : Can i use a 2gb or 4gb memory for the Samsung NV3 digital camera?
The instruction manual says the Samsung camera holds an external memory up to 1GB, what is the maximum it can support.
Answer:
It takes SD cards but not SDHD cards. So a 2GB SD card will work, but not a 2GB or 4GB SDHD card (all bigger capacity cards are SDHD)

Yes there is sound on the camera, and if I send it via e mail, they get sound.
Answer:
Is your camera capable to capture audio? When you play it back in your camera do you hear anything? If so are your speakers turned way down or muted.

Question : Where can I find a good repair shop for my new Samsung digital camera in Morocco?
On extended vacation in Casablanca, Morocco. My new Samsung digitial camera I bought in the States has quite working and keeps saying low battery even when new batteries are put in. Also the focus has turned blurry. Cant seem to find anyone to repair or even understand the problem. It cost §80 new US cash to buy a new one here would be close to §200 for the same model, not an option. Any help would be greatly appreciated, a trip with no pictures would be really sad!
Answer:
Forget it, just buy a new camera! That is what being a good little consumer is all about!
Buy a$200 camera, In your case get it for $80 in another country and when it breaks its cost $200 to send it to be fixed (not to mention the BS and run around). You see finding a shop that fixes small electronics is impossible, there just is not enough pay on the investment for people to that anymore, you will just have to send it in and deal the inconvenience!
Or Buy a new Camera!
Things today are designed not to last and be very expensive, sorry!

Question : Can I use any type of memory card for a Samsung digital camera?
I want to get the pink samsung model 860 for $99.99
Can I use the SanDisk 2 GB memory card?
Answer:
Read the manual. Go online to the Samsung website and read the specifications.
For starters you need to know exactly which type of memory card you need, and even if you have the right type, some of the cheap cameras can only handle smaller cards.

Question : how to take picture of a moon whith my samsung digital camera?
someone help me??? i want to take picture of a moon
camera i have :
samsung S750
zoom-5.8-17.4mm 3X optical zoom
have ASR (advance shake reduction)
7.2 megapixel
i have paint shop pro X2
picasa
tripod
Answer:
The moon will be quite small with your lenses focal length which is not much longer that a medium telephoto used to take portraits.
Even using my 500 mm on my D300, the moon only fills about 1/5th of the frame.
I don't know how you plan on setting the camera to the sunny 16 rule setting for exposing the moon properly. At ISO 100, you could hand hold the camera at 1/400th second @ f/8 with the camera set at infinity and get nearly perfect exposures.
If you attempt to use the auto-exposure, auto-focus features of your camera, you are likely only to get a white hole in the sky and a lot of camera movement, because the auto-exposure will be trying to expose for the night sky, not the moon
