The Samsung S860 is a high-resolution digital camera that is equipped with a true-color filtered 8.1-Megapixel CCD. This allows the Samsung S860 to take detailed photos for printing up to poster size. With the Face Detection AF & AE function, the Samsung S860 enables the user to take better portrait pictures more easily. This function detects faces and automatically focuses on them. The brightness of the faces is adjusted optimally for beautiful portrait pictures. In macro shooting, it is now possible to take clear, natural pictures. Digital Image Stabilization (DIS) technology prevents the degradation of image clarity and color, which is sometimes found in flash photography. With DIS the effects of image blur are reduced in lower light conditions. You can even take well-exposed, sharper pictures in low light conditions without using a flash at all, which guarantees brighter and more natural pictures. The different icons, scene modes and other features are described in simple and easy to understand terms to improve the interaction between the user and camera. ISO - Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1000 Flash Modes - Auto, Auto & Red-eye reduction, Fill-in flash, Slow sync, and Flash off Range - Wide 0.3m - 4.0m and Tele 0.5m - 2.1m (ISO AUTO) Self-timer - 2 seconds and 10 seconds Still Image File Format - JPEG (DCF), EXIF 2.2, and DPOF 1.1 Scene Modes - Children, Landscape, Close-up, Text, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow, and Night System Requirements - Pentium II 450MHz (Pentium 800MHz recommended), Windows 98SE, 2000, ME, XP, Vista, Mac OS 9.2, 10.4 or later, 64MB RAM, 200MB free space, USB port, CD-ROM drive, 1024x768 pixels, 16-bit color display compatible monitor, Microsoft DirectX 9.0C Dimensions - Approximately Width 3.66 x Height 2.44 x Depth 1.04 (93x62x26.5mm) Weight - 123 grams

Great camera for a great price

I've had my S860 since May 2008. It's stood up to heavy use for over 6 months!!! I needed a reliable "point & shoot" to use on my Girl Scout outings and something that was small enough to keep in my briefcase to take those spur of the moment pics of my family, friends & pets!
This little camera does it all!!!
I especially like that I can take over 400+ photos on my 2G SD card - on one set of rechargeable AA batteries. This came in handy this past weekend while @ a b-day party for a friend - when her camera quit taking photos after only 5 shots! I was able to keep snapping away for over 4 hours & provided the b-day girl with some great shots of her with her friends!
*Bottom line*
It's a great camera for those who need something reliable & rugged.
The 8.1 MP is plenty if you want to crop & print larger photos!

Good camera for the money

This is a very small Point & Shoot camera which does not take amazing pics but does the work of capturing moments. No image stabilization but for a little less than $100 it is one of the best choices if you don't want to spend a lot on a small camera. Besides, everyone can live without image stabilization in this type of product.

Samsung L100 digital camera

I bought the Samsung L100 8.2 MP digital camera for my daughter's birthday, on the recommendation of my son. I asked him to find one that was simple to use, reasonably priced, and took good photos and this one more than filled the bill. I love dealing with Amazon and have always been happy with purchases made through them. My daughter enjoys using it and the pictures are great. It can even take movies and uses rechargable batteries, a real plus since disposable batteries can be expensive. We would definitely recommend it.

Great for the price!

I purchased this camera before going to Mexico for my son's engagement party for its size and of course for its color - and it worked out great. It was easy to take with me to all the activities - parties, sightseeing, family shots - and the price was right!

Rating :

mostly good

I bought this camera with little to no research first and it was a good camera for the price. The pictures are clear and crisp. When zooming in on the pictures, detail that we didn't even know was there, was captured. My only problem came about 5 months after buying the camera when, for what seems to be no reason, the lense refuses to retract and the camera now won't shut off without me taking the battery out of it. This happened right in the middle of a birthday party for my 13 year old daughter. Even the LCD screen quit working.
But, that said, I plan to buy the same type of camera to replace it.

Questions & Answers
Question : How do you capture color light with a Samsung S730 digital camera?
I have a samsung s730 7.2 digital camera and I was wondering how to capture a great light scene at night? I know how to use the different modes for different scenes but at night even with right mode the picture comes out blury or too bright with the flash. If i am taking pictures of different color lights such as a blue lighting or red or something how do I capture the color in the picture without it coming out too blury?

Answer:
u need a long exposure, and because of long exposure time you may not move the camera, and do not use flash. You will then get the light from the streets lights or whatever else is around... expect to get diff colors, reds and oranges .... get a tripod, will not be able to hand hold at such long exposure settings d. www.deaftoneimaging.com

Question : how can i make my samsung digital camera work as a webcam?
i've got a samsung digital camera and i'd like to use it as a webcam but i dont know how to do this. can anyone help me out? i'll definitely give best answer to first person to give me help that works

Question : Can anyone tell me about the Samsung L200 digital camera?
It looks like a great camera for the price ($150). 10.2 MP, 2.5 inch LCD, but only 3x optical zoom. Anyone have one? Are you happy with it? And what is the reputation of Samsung cameras in general? Thanks.

Answer:
It uses a lithium ion battery, which is good. It's got optical image stabilization, which is good. It looks good for the price.

Question : Did anyone else buy the Samsung D53 digital camera at Walmart? How does Samsung compare with Polaroid?
This must have been a Walmart exclusive because it's not listed on the Samsung web site as a model. Does anyone know how this camera would compare with the Polaroid A700 which was on sale at Kmart? Any opinions on who might make the best inexpense digital camera--Samsung or Polaroid? I do know that the Samsung is very confusing to use out of the box. There are many features but a steep learning curve on figuring out how to use them.

Answer:
Neither. I don't know how much retailers are advertising these for, but if Canon, Olympus, Fuji or Kodak had one within $100, I would opt for one of those and consider it money well spent. I use a Samsung digicam at work for taking passport photos and it is completely unimpressive. Polaroid spent a lot of time in bankruptcy, and is behind on the digital curve. Good luck in finding the right camera. BTW, if you are switching from a film camera, ALL digicams have a steep learning curve!

Question : How do I fix my samsung digital camera?
The camera is a type where the lens come up when you turn it on. The lens came out but the battery died and the lens stayed put. Sometime later I put new batteries in to close the lens but the lens wouldn't come back in. I looked and found out the outer tube is sorta crooked. Is there anything i can do to fix it without bringing it to a samsung center?

Answer:
have it repaired

Question : Turning off the flash of a samsung s630 digital camera?

Question : Can i use a 2gb or 4gb memory for the Samsung NV3 digital camera?
The instruction manual says the Samsung camera holds an external memory up to 1GB, what is the maximum it can support.

Answer:
It takes SD cards but not SDHD cards. So a 2GB SD card will work, but not a 2GB or 4GB SDHD card (all bigger capacity cards are SDHD)

Question : Wth is the macro function on the s760 samsung digital camera?
I know what it does but it doesn't seem to do anything here, am I missing something or is that just a scam function?

Answer:
It is supposed to allow the camera to focus at closer distances. Focus as close as you can then switch to macro mode and try to focus closer. If you succeed then it is working fine.

Question : How do you set the timer on a Samsung D75 digital camera?!?
Hi! I have a samsung D75 digital camera and I always need to use the timer option, but I dont know how to set it up so it works! Please, if you know, tell me how because its driving me mad! Thank you! Have a good day.

Answer:
The round dial on the back of your camera has the self-timer function. It's the icon that looks like a circle or clock. It has a line through it (or the second hand in a clock). While in recording/shooting mode you should be able to press it and it will give you a 2 sec. or 10 sec. timer option. Then just press the shutter button to get the timer started. Alternatively, have a look in pages 8 and, in particular, page 27 of your user manual for help in using the self timer. If you don't have the user manual, you can download it in the link below...

Question : Can I use any type of memory card for a Samsung digital camera?
I want to get the pink samsung model 860 for $99.99 Can I use the SanDisk 2 GB memory card?

Answer:
Read the manual. Go online to the Samsung website and read the specifications. For starters you need to know exactly which type of memory card you need, and even if you have the right type, some of the cheap cameras can only handle smaller cards.
