Nice little camera

I own two of these and both work great. I bought one 3 yrs ago on my younger brother's advice, but my wife started to monopolize it so got 1 for her for x-mas. Can't compare to others cause haven't owned any. If mine dies I will get another.

Great simple camera

I researched and found this camera for my wife. She is not technologically oriented so I needed one that was simple yet took excellent pictures. This is it. So many features and the automatic settings are so intelligent. It is must have with image stabilization. Now, no pictures get blurred. It also has regular batteries that I replaced with rechargeable ones. She was thrilled at receiving it and the ease of using it. Panasonic did a great job. I bought a more advanced model for myself. My Lumix DMC-TZ3 model is great also.

Not bad; Not great

This camera is a nice size and very easy to operate. The photos come out great and it's very easy to play back your shots and delete ones you don't want to keep.
The bad points are that it tends to be a little slow between shots and can not be recharged on its own (need to provide your own seperate rechargeable batteries or bring lots of spares). Also, the internal memory is very limited so be sure to purchase a memory card (they're cheap these days).

Equipped with 14.7 megapixels, the new Panasonic FX150 boasts a 28mm wide-angle Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens with F2.8 brightness and 3.6x optical zoom. The FX150s manual controls and creative-shooting features distinguish it from many of its ultra-compact competitors. For instance, the Manual Exposure mode lets users choose the shutter speed, giving the freedom to render artistic images of ordinary scenes. The multi-exposure function superimposes up to three consecutively shot images together while the user views the previous image on the LCD, creating a surrealistic effect that cannot be achieved with a single image alone. Furthermore, the manual bracketing function includes typical exposure and adds new color bracketing to capture color, monochromatic and sepia shots of an image simultaneously.

Great choice for point and shot

My primary camera is al Nikon SLR. In many times, I don't want to carry a large camera at any event, but I want to take great photos at every time. For this reason, I purchased it. This camera has a largest CCD, 14MP, Lumix IA function, Image Stabilization, Leica Lens, new image processor, and other things. Results? Greats! Go ahead with this product. Cons: The HD video is .MOV. I don't know DVD players which read this format.

Simply set the 10.1-megapixel DMC-FS5 to iA mode and let the four Intelligent Auto functions team up to help prevent shooting errors. Intelligent Scene Selector chooses the mode that best fits the situation; MEGA Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) helps prevent blurring from hand-shake; Intelligent ISO Control helps prevent motion blur; and Face Detection helps produce clear portraits by optimizing the focus and exposure settings. The 30mm wide-angle Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens with 4x optical zoom takes wider shots than an ordinary 35mm lens. This is helpful in small rooms or crowded places, for example, letting you fit more people into a group photo. There's also an Easy Zoom button on the camera top - just press it, and the optical zoom and Extra Optical Zoom instantly extend to full telescopic position. This quick zooming lets you catch even fleeting opportunities. The brightness and contrast of the large 2.5" diagonal LCD adjust automatically in 10 steps as ambient light conditions change, so images are clear, bright and easy to see day or night, indoors or outdoors. f=5.2-20.8mm (35mm Equiv. - 30-120mm) Focal Length 2.5 Diagonal Polycrystalline TFT LCD Display (230K dots) Focusing Area Normal - Wide 50cm/ Tele 100cm - infinity, Macro / Intelligent AUTO - Wide 10cm / Tele 100cm - infinity 8 - 1/2,000 sec. Blows Canon & Nikon away

This camera is fantastic for a pocket size point and shoot. I am a previous Canon elf and Nikon CoolPix owner. Side by side, the Panasonic blows the Canon and Nikon away. A friendly suggestion, Google ¨Canon Powershot lens error¨ & see what you find. I AM SOLD on Panasonic's QUALITY. Photos are excellent, although image quality does suffer some in low light. That being said, this is a problem common to all pocket sized point and shoots. The battery life is very good. I can get 300+ shots on a card before the battery needs a charge. This is assuming you don't keep reviewing your shots every 5 minutes. The more you review your shots, obvously the more battery life you consume. The screen is crisp and clear, controls are well placed and the lens is very good quality. If you are looking at the 3¨ screen model (FS20), check the images of the BACK SIDE of the cameras. You will notice with the 3¨screen there is very little room for your fingers. The FS5's 2 1/2¨screen allows ample room for your fingers without touching the LCD, so if you are thinking the 2 1/2¨ screen is a deal breaker for you, reconsider that decision before you pay the extra $ for a larger screen model (FS20). The 2 1/2¨ screen is MORE THAN AMPLE to view your shots. Image stabilization works very well, especially when using the 4x zoom. The wide angle also allows for good panoramic shot. The camera build is SOLID and feels so in your hand, however is still light enough that you don't feel like you are carrying a brick in your pocket or on your belt. Some other reviews complain about the menu. If you are new to Panasonic, a quick review of the manual and after playing with the controls for 10-15 minutes, you should have no problems understanding the menu's and function settings. At it's current price point of $140.00, this unit is a steal. So much so that I ordered 3 for Christmas gifts. Two in Black and one in Silver. If you don't need the wider angle lens or 10 MP, then look at the FS3, that is the sister camera to the FS5 and is about $30.00 less.

Perfect for snaps or video

This camera is the perfect size to slip in your pocket and its built quality means no problems. Video is fantastic for a subcompact. Works best in normal mode for snapshots. Like other tiny sensor 10mp compacts, its only on par with about a 4mp DSLR due to sensor grain. But should be good up to 11x14 for enlargements. Sharp lens and perfect zoom range, A good deal.

Poor Image Quality

I was looking for a handy point and shoot digital camera. Even though the MP rating on this camer is high at 10 MP, I was very dissapointed in the image quality produced by this camera. Images were soft (not sharp); contrast was poor. I returned the camera and purchased a Canon 8 MP model instead. Performance of the Canon is far superior. My initial interest in the Panasonic was based on the favorable ratings--my experience was very different.

Great Camera for the Price

I bought this camera for my uncle. He doesn't know anything about photography so basically I was looking for a point-and-shoot camera that does everything automatically. The picture quality is great under good light conditions, the wide angle is a nice feature too, and its reduced size allow to carry it easily in your pocket. It has a big display, and this is also a good point. The thing I like most is the battery life, with one charge you can take 150+ pictures.

Rating :

It's a good camera.

No complaints. It should be emphasized that its internal memory will hold only about 10 pictures; the additional memory will cost about $16. It's a good camera.

Great Zoom and Wide-Angle Camera Choice

I needed a new small digital camera and decided on Canon or Panasonic due to input from several sources and many weeks of research. The camera had to have at least 5x zoom, my biggest requirement until I started reading and hearing about the advantages of a wide-angle lens. Finding the two together in the camera size I wanted was not easy (at least in the two brands above and in a reasonable price range for me) and I wavered between less zoom but wide-angle, or no wide-angle and 5x (or more) zoom. Finally I decided on the Panasonic DMC-FX37 which offers both and is very small! I am very happy with it so far! I think the photos and videos are super and the extra features are amazing. I don't like the exposure screen that pops up every once in awhile when I'm ready to take a shot (it's great to know that if I adjust right then the picture will come out better) but I have lost the photo opportunity a few times since I haven't figured out how to override the screen quickly. The manual is a bit overwhelming but I'm sure help is available in those pages somewhere!
Four stars as I've compared my photos with a similar Canon camera and I think those are a bit better; however, I love having the 5x zoom and wide-angle which I would never do without again.

Questions & Answers
Question : Does anybody know where to buy a Panasonic digital camera model DMC-FZ30S?
Panasonic charges $650 and I saw it onlikne ordering for $200 less? are these online companies reliable? I heard of one in NYC that is less and no taxes for me in Florida.

Answer:
I would consider a major online company like Amazon.com. I checked and some places sell it up to $50 cheaper than Amazon, but Amazon is so huge and so professional I'd rather not save $50 more and risk buying it from some tiny company I've never heard of.

Question : Panasonic Digital Camera DMC-LS75 wants to be turned off and on again?
Every time I turn on my camera, it boots up and then presents the following message on the screen "Please turn camera off and then on again". The camera is then unresponsive. I have put new batteries in the camera without any change. Anybody know what it causing this?

Answer:
return it for a refund or take it to the camera store.

Question : I need to download a usb connector for my Panasonic digital camera?
I need to download a usb connector for my Panasonic digital camera?

Answer:
You can't download a connector... but you can buy one at Radio Shack, Target, Walmart.. or any other dept store with a halfway decent electronics dept.

Question : My panasonic digital camera (fx7) makes sc cards write pritected. Is that common?
This is my secound sd card which became write protected itself, I think it busted. Does this came from my Panasonic digital camera FX series?

Answer:
Your SD card comes with a sliding switch on the edge that locks or unlocks your card. It's easy enough to accidently slide it into the locked position. Hope that helps.

Question : How do I set up final cut pro to capture footage from my panasonic digital video camera?
I connected the camera with the firewire cable that came with it but the system keeps asking for "apple firewire pal"

Answer:
It sounds as if you have a connector missing. are you sure you have the right size firewall cable? wait you said it came in the box. here is a link to a website that has support for this stuff. good luck http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306171

Question : Lens rattle with new panasonic digital camera?
Hi, I just got a new Panasonic FZ18. I noticed that there is a rattle coming from the lens when I tip or handle the camera. Just wondered if this is common in this model??

Answer:
This may be normal. There is a loose element in the lens that, when in use, compensates for hand movement when using the optical image stabilization. Try turning the stabilizer on using Mode 2 and see if you hear the rattling under the same conditions. Mode 2 is continuous stabilization whereas Mode 1 is on-shot, I believe. Try Mode 1 also if you still hear rattling just in case.

Question : Does anyone know anything bad about the $300 Panasonic Digital Camera?
My husband just bought one, but has not tried it out yet. I liked the Kokak or better name brand, is Panasonic a goodd name in the digital camera department? Thanks. It is a FZ7, thanks.

Answer:
Which model? I've had an FZ1 for over two years and it has been great. The image stabilization and the 12x optical zoom work well together. I've even had some pictures taken with the camera accepted on one of the stock photography sites.

Question : Whats better a Nikon or Panasonic digital camera?
Trying to buy a new camera, im looking at a Nikon and a Panasonic, which one should i get?

Answer:
Look at Nikon, or Canon My preference in the larger DSLR's are the Nikon's (of course!) Canon makes good stuff too, but I prefer the "ergonomics" or layout on the Nikon. In the smaller Point n shooters, Canon may have the slight edge. Both cameras are good, but Canon gives a larger selection of cameras with an "optical viewfinder" which I prefer in the bright sunlight. Those LCD viewfinders can be hard to see in bright sunlight. Make sure you get one with the VR (Vibration Reduction, Nikon) or the IS (Image Stabilization, Canon) to help you get good shots in the low light tough shooting conditions.

Question : does anyone here know where to buy the usb cord of a panasonic lumix digital camera in the philippines?
does anyone here know? my mom bought for me a black panasonic lumix digital camera last year and now i lost the usb cord that is used to connect from the camera to the computer. where can i buy it here in manila philippines? its actually part of the package when you buy the camera together with the cord that connects the camera to the television and my mom will be very mad if she knew that i lost it. :( helpppp.. :(

Answer:
If you can speak to someone at a camera store about ordering one. If that doesn't work look around ebay or the panasonic website to see if they sell accessories. Hope this works!
