5 stars. Very good camera to take hunting/rafting/hiking trips. I think you do give up a little picture quality with the small lense. Pay attention to sun angle.

Super versatile and highly recommended
I love this camera! I bought it to keep in my purse and as a back up to my SLR. I end up using it more than the SLR. I haven't tried it in the water yet, but I used it in the snow which was really cool because I wouldn't have wanted my expensive camera to get wet. I even took it snowmobiling. Also I let my little neices and nephews use/play with it without worrying about if they're going to drop it or chew on it :) It has a lot of different modes to choose from, more than I'll ever use, but it's nice to just switch to a different mode in any situation without changing any settings manually. I think the image quality is great - I haven't tried any close ups or anything like that (that's what my SLR is for). I highly recommend this camera to anyone.

The Stylus 1010 is a perfect camera for users looking for a compact digital camera with advanced features. An attractive package of features including a 7x Optical Zoom and Digital Image Stabilization helps users capture clear, crisp memories. 10.1MP gives you superior image quality that you can use to make large prints, or even crop, without losing detail. With the Dual Image Stabilization you get 2-in-1 anti-blur solutions that keeps your shot steady by compensating for camera shake to capture crisp, clear images in any situation. Easily view photos on the 2.7" HyperCrystal LCD that lets you view at extra-wide angles and with the anti-glare technology share photos with family and friends even in direct, bright sunlight. Great Acquisition
Excellent acquisition. The value and the resolution was so great. The pictures are really clear and colorfull but the zoom is +AA. Much better than the Cyber Shot and the other ones.

Very nice camera
This camera is very small, and takes nice pictures. You can't beat the price for 10 megapixels, and definately not for the 7x optical zoom. There are settings gallore, some that are actually very useful. One useful one is document mode where you can take a picture of a page up close, then be able to pull it up on your computer and have the text be pefectly legible. Overall, highly recomended.

Searched for a long time & settled with this one
I researched for a couple months on finding a new camera for myself. I stuck with this one due to the zoom capacity, the many functions and the reviews were fairly better than the other ones I looked at. I am not, by far, an expert photographer but I know what I like and how I want my pictures to come out.
This camera is really easy to use and figure out. On the down side, I was also looking for compact, and I got it. Sometimes it is difficult to hold and take pictures. MAKE sure you keep that wrist band on. The functions are great. I also use the micro function when doing really close up pictures for my ebay store (The Bargain Barrel) and it comes out crystal clear. It took me awhile to figure that one out!!
Overall I am really pleased with my purchase and pictures!!

Olympus Stylus 1010, disappointing
I researched point and shoot cameras for a few months, and finally decided to go with the Olympus Stylus 1010 seeing that I liked my mom's older Olympus and have had trouble with Canon cameras taking washed out pictures or breaking. The best part of this camera is the crop feature, and that's about it. The pictures look awesome on the lcd, but when they print, they look flat and the color is way off, especially the color purple. When you take a picture of purple, it comes out blue!!! I thought with technology new cameras would be better, but with this Olympus, the older Olympus digital cameras are better. I am sending this one back, and either getting another Canon, or a Sony Cybershot.

An Outstanding Inexpensive Camera
I bought this camera for my wife so she could carry it in her purse, instead of slinging her SLR around her neck. This camera has so many features that it is amazing. Beautiful pictures, clear, no shake, lighting is great, incredible boot time, practically instant. Panoramic stitching in the camera, video, rapid shoot. If you miss a shot with this one, you were asleep. I'm buying a red one for myself.

Love this camera!
I love, love, love this camera. It takes GREAT photos! I have been amazed! It's fun to experiment with all the extra settings but works awesome on automatic. A friend purchased a similar camera the same time I purchased this one. We compared photos and features and she immediately returned hers and traded for this same camera. I highly recommend it!

So far, so good
I'm not an expert photographer and unfortunately haven't even read the manual on this one, but I've been carrying it with me and have gotten some pretty good shots. I've always used Canon in the past but felt like the batteries either run down REALLY quickly, or it's coming on while in my purse. I was able to take this one with me for 4 days to visit my family for Christmas without having to charge it. I don't know much about the special features and haven't had any photos printed yet, but it's straightforward enough to use straight away for normal point and shoot snapshots.

Great camera!
This camera is great for everyday users. It's relatively simple to figure out but has more complicated features for the more advanced user. The in-camera panorama feature is one-of-a-kind! The image quality is great. Slim and portable. The battery life is very decent.

pleased, few complaints
This replaced my Olympus Stylus 710 that was dropped 1 too many times in the 2.5 years I owned it. During those 2.5 years it had traveled all over North American and to 3 other continents and served me very well.
Very small, very easy to use, tons of features and settings yet easy to just point and shoot (which is largely how I use it).
The benefits of the Stylus 840 over the older camera are more optical zoom, larger lcd, and more megapixels (though for my purposes, ~6 MP is more than enough; picts with this at the highest setting are close to 2MB). There are a few other nice new touches too.
Biggest draw back? Olympus dropped the All-weather protection which is VERY disappointing and why went with Olympus in the first place. In fact, if I didn't already have a case, extra batteries, 2GB memory cards, and familiarity with the controls from my earlier Olympus, I might have considered a Canon.
With that said, I quite like the Olympus and have no regrets or complaints with the quality of the picts.

| Editorial Review :
While other digital cameras may use touch screens to access settings, the new Stylus 1050 SW has a shockproof, waterproof and freezeproof body that is sensitive to touch all over. So getting to the most common menu settings in situations where pushing buttons takes time or is difficult is now as fast and easy as a tap on the top, back or sides of the camera.
The rugged 10.1-megapixel Stylus 1050 SW is designed to take the hard knocks that everyday life particularly those with kids can throw its way, so you know that the memories it captures will be protected. It can handle five-foot drops to the hard ground, operate in freezing snowstorms, and swim with the fishes lethal conditions for most other digital cameras. Additionally, the Stylus 1050 SW weathers the elements in style with four trendy colors (blue, champagne, silver and black) and a new streamlined body. The sleek, lens-protecting faceplate slides down, turning the camera on and revealing the lens in an instant to capture the moment.

Great point and shoot camera, very sturdy build quality. 3x zoom is a little limited, but suitable for the application of this camera.

Decent for what it is
I bought this camera thinking my wife and I had lost our Fuji E900. The first one I got a few months ago seemed to work well but while showing the features of the camera to my parents (prospective buyers) I did a "drop test" from about 3' into a child's car seat and the camera broke after having it for 1 week. I sent it back and got another one, the same model, and have not had anymore problems. I have taken it down waterslides in video mode with excellent results although the sound quality is only OK due to the occasional "clicking" noise. Not sure what that noise is but it could be the wrist strap clanging against the camera which is attached too close to the internal mic. The picture quality is only average though. The greens seem a little washed out and reds don't seem as true as they should be - even with some bright outdoor pictures in ideal conditions. We have subsequently found our 9.0MP E900 (in our 4 year old's closet hiding) and now I use it for most of the pics I take, while my wife uses the Olympus and prefers it. One note- the video mode is limited to 10 seconds on a regular "M" XD card so after buying a new "M+" XD card I was able to take unlimited length clips. A little disappointing when you already have 3 2GB cards of the regular type. For being a 12MP camera it was a little disappointing but if you include the cool features it makes it a decent all around vacation type camera for beaches (I have lost 2 cameras due to sand), snow, and water. Overall fun camera to use - just not for the professional photographer.
Rating :
Great camera for outdoors and a beginner
I bought this camera as my first digital to use while fly-fishing and skiing - I love it - all the different settings and functions helps me get good shots regardless of the light or conditions I am in - and I don't have to worry about getting it wet or dropping it - I wasn't sure if I would like the slide on and off lens cover but I do - it is an easy way to turn the camera on and off and protects the lens face - I like the pocket size and weight - I like the ability to plug it into a TV monitor to see a big version of my pictures and/or play them back as a slide show - I bought 3 extra batteries very cheap here on Amazon and never worry about running out of power - all in all, I don't see how any amateur, outdoor photographer could go wrong with this amazing little camera.
Rating :
great and not so great
Whats Great: durability, picture quality is great so far too...I have 3 small boys, so I needed to buy something that could handle them. I have always purchased olymupus cameras becuase of the picutre qauality, but my boys seem to always manage to throw my cameras out a window, or into water...this was my only choice. There are no other's like it on the market in this price range.
What's not so great: shutter delay..i hate it. I absolutely hate th delay, i'm trying to get used to it. I almost have to guess what's gonna happen...not easy with a 1,3 and 5 year old! Thre are other settings you can use to try and make it better, but i just have to get used to it, again, durability is the most important thing to me ..i have gone through-i think-3 cameras alredy...I cant keep buying them, too expensive. the other not so great feature is the strange lcd screen. when you make the slighest movement it gets blurry..i really dont use it, when i'm taking a picutre, i just look at the subject..i iwll peek to make sure what i'm taking is in frame but that's about it. I'm not a huge fan of the slider that opens and closes the lens..it does open easy, sometimes when it's in my bag, it opens on me. the last thing i'm not too crazy aobut is that it takes a while to turn on...if sometihg is happening that i want to shoot really fast, between the delay of it turing onn nd the dely on the shutter, i usually miss it. I also think all cameras should come with a case-only some do, this one doesnt..that annoys me...the card, and extra battery costs enough..
All in all, it's ok. If durability wasnt the most important thing, i would hve returned it and gotten something different.
Hope that helps!

Questions & Answers
Question : How should I clean my Olympus digital camera?
I want to know the best way to clean my screen and outside of my DIGITAL CAMERA! Thanks!
Answer:
Just use a lint free cloth to clean the digital camera. If it is really sticky you can find cleaning pads for electronics which should be safe. The best option is to contact your manufacturer and ask them what their cleaning recommendation is. Good Luck!

Question : I got an Olympus digital camera. Not super impressed with the quality -- should i get a refund?
I bought an Olympus 8 megapixel camera with 5X optical zoom. I used to own a 8 megapixel Sony camera... the Sony had excellent quality (Carl Zeiss Lens). The Olympus camera was on sale so i decided to give it a try. it is difficult to take clear, focused pictures with this camera. should i get a refund? What is your experience with olympus cameras?
Marie--what model was your camera?
Answer:
i've got an olympus fe310 (8 mp, 5 x zoom) & photos from it are fantastic. i've tried a pentax with similar specs. but the olympus is far better. what model olympus are you talking about ? are you SURE you've focused correctly before taking picture ? sometimes it is hard to focus on some objects that don't have good definition.
