Editorial Review :

The Olympus FE-20 unites strength and simplicity. The power of its 3x optical zoom and 8 megapixels is always at your fingertips with this sleek and compact camera measuring just 21.5mm in depth. But don't let its looks and features fool you - the FE-20 is fun and easy to use. Face Detection technology makes it simple to capture your friends and family with optimal focus and exposure settings. And with digital image stabilization, ISO values of up to 1000 help prevent blur, so you can always be sure that your pictures will come out crisp and clear. This stylish, powerful camera's LCD makes framing and reviewing your shots a cinch.

Customer Review :

they could'nt sell this camera to me

I only had the camera for about a week but returned it immediately because the picture quality was so poor. Grainy and blurry. Also, it took forever between pictures so forget spontaneous shots. Even worse w/ the flash. I wouldn't waste your money but even more so, any frustration on this camera. Too bad, I used to like Olympus.

It takes great pictures and I love all the different settings. I haven't used it underwater yet but will in a few months and cant wait to try it out! I highly recommend this camera!

I love this camera! I bought it to keep in my purse and as a back up to my SLR. I end up using it more than the SLR. I haven't tried it in the water yet, but I used it in the snow which was really cool because I wouldn't have wanted my expensive camera to get wet. I even took it snowmobiling. Also I let my little neices and nephews use/play with it without worrying about if they're going to drop it or chew on it :) It has a lot of different modes to choose from, more than I'll ever use, but it's nice to just switch to a different mode in any situation without changing any settings manually. I think the image quality is great - I haven't tried any close ups or anything like that (that's what my SLR is for). I highly recommend this camera to anyone.

Keep looking... this one's not worth the money.

We have had an Olympus Stylus 710 for three years and I've really loved it with the exception that the battery door cracked a few months ago. According to Olympus' customer service department it was going to cost over $100 to have it fixed. Rather than mess with that, we decided to upgrade our camera for about the same price. We saw a sale ad for the Olympus FE360 and decided to go for it. After all, we loved our old Olympus, and this one is several years newer with 1 more MP than our old one, so it should be even BETTER, right?

Yeah, not so much.

I can't even begin to explain how horribly disappointed I was in the FE360. The shutter speed is AWFUL. It's even slower than our original digital camera from seven years ago, and it's WAY worse than the Stylus 710. I kept telling myself I must have been doing something wrong... so I re-read the manual and I was doing exactly what it said to do. How could a newer camera be *worse* than our old one of the same brand? I'm not sure what they did, but they managed it somehow!

Even so, I decided that I'd give it a few days and now I'm kicking myself. I took all our Christmas pictures with it and they are ALL dark and many are blurry. I missed so many "Kodak moments" because of the delayed shutter action, and the ones I did end up with aren't even a good quality. We have two young children and any shot with the slightest movement in it was ruined. Thank goodness for PhotoShop b/c I was able to salvage a few of the clear but dark ones. It was almost as if the flash wasn't strong enough or have a long enough range. I took over 100 pictures with this camera and about 80% of them were total flops. Our kids have blue eyes so we're used to dealing with red eye to some degree, but this was just crazy. I could probably have dealt with that aspect if it was an easy fix after the fact but the red-eye reduction tool was completely worthless as well.

Another complaint, the cord that you need to connect the camera to your computer to upload pictures is no longer the standard USB cord. It's similar but smaller. What a pain! As if I need one more cord coming out of the back of my computer...

One more warning, beware of Olympus' customer service. After deciding to return the FE360 and get my money back I did more online research to find out about fixing my old Olympus Stylus 710. As it turns out, the battery cover I had had an issue with is a VERY common problem across the board with many Olympus digital cameras. It also turns out that although Olympus claims you have to send your camera to their service department for repair, and that it will be a flat rate repair cost of $105 to fix it (no matter what your repair is), and that you cannot order the part and fix it yourself... I asked the customer service rep this question specifically... you actually CAN order the part yourself but not from Olympus. I found it online for $22 from an independent vendor and my old camera is as good as new. All it took was a small screwdriver and about 3 minutes to replace that piece.

Don't jump the gun and buy this camera just b/c of the reasonable price. Look at Consumer Reports or another consumer product rating guide and make sure you know what you're getting. Also, make sure you order your new camera from a place that will accept returns unconditionally. I saw several places that charge a 20% "restocking fee" if you decide to return it.

Battery Life not that great

I'm a little disappointed with the battery life on this camera. I've had other cameras that have lasted alot longer. I just used it tonight for a night parade and kept it on inbetween floats and it only seemed to last about 30 minutes.

It could need a replacement battery but it is only 3 weeks old. It works great for outdoor daylight shots, but doesn't really do that great in low light even with a flash.

Is is okay for the money, but I would recommend that you save the extra money and get a little more expensive camera.

Question : Anyone have an Olympus digital camera?
I've owned two different Olympus cameras now and both times have had trouble with battery life. I'll put in a brand new pair of batteries and within an unreasonable amount of time the camera tells me the battery is dead and turns off. I've tried different brands of batteries and still no luck. What gives? Anyone else have this problem?

Answer:
I'm on my second Olympus also, and there are several issues to content with any digital camera. If you mainly use the camera indoors, the constant firing of the flash will help to kill the batteries. Also remember that using the optical zoom function often, will do likewise. Lastly, leaving the LCD monitor on for long periods will shorten the fun. Answer -go to Target or Walmart and buy rechargeable AA's for $20. This has nothing to do with Olympus.

Question : How to add the date and time in my Digital camera photos(Olympus F232)?
I am using Olympus F232 Digital camera. When I copied the photos to the system, I need the Date and Time of photo shoot in the copied photo. In the Camera where I have to do this setting to get the date and time .

Answer:
Information about date, time, exposure etc. is held in the exif information of each picture. Your image processing app should be able to display this, or you could get an app like EXIF ShellExtension which allows you to display the information in Windows Explorer. There are apps which will add this info to your images, but I've never used one in anger - you could try Jpeg Exif Stamper, it's free.

You can TRY this, Use Windows Explorer screen. It's a split screen. ON the left is your drives (including the d: or e: ((whatever your camera is connect to & your compter drives too). Have your camera ON & connected & in the USB transfer mode: Click on the file on the left where your video is saved. In the right pane find the video, right click & COPY it, ON the Left pane, click your camera drive, Click on the drive or the camera or the internal storage folder within the camera drive, and then right click & choose PASTE. You'll have your original on your computer & a copy in your camera.

Question : oookay why wont my olympus digital camera upload pictures to my computer?
well here's what happens. whenever i plug in the usb cable from my computer to my camera, the camera automatically shuts off. it doesn't do that when not connected. the batteries are full, it takes pictures and works fine. my computer is a windows. im using the program that came with the camera (olympus master 2). oh and it use to upload just fine before now oh and the computer also doesn't detect anything. so why does it shut off when conected? yes the batteries are new and good condition

The batteries may be fully charged, but are they in good condition? If you've got another set of batteries, or a DC supply, I'd try those.

I have an Olympus FE-280 and all of the sudden it just started not focusing.
