Olympus Stylus 1010, disappointing
I researched point and shoot cameras for a few months, and finally decided to go with the Olympus Stylus 1010 seeing that I liked my mom's older Olympus and have had trouble with Canon cameras taking washed out pictures or breaking. The best part of this camera is the crop feature, and that's about it. The pictures look awesome on the lcd, but when they print, they look flat and the color is way off, especially the color purple. When you take a picture of purple, it comes out blue!!! I thought with technology new cameras would be better, but with this Olympus, the older Olympus digital cameras are better. I am sending this one back, and either getting another Canon, or a Sony Cybershot.

Very nice camera
This camera is very small, and takes nice pictures. You can't beat the price for 10 megapixels, and definately not for the 7x optical zoom. There are settings gallore, some that are actually very useful. One useful one is document mode where you can take a picture of a page up close, then be able to pull it up on your computer and have the text be pefectly legible. Overall, highly recomended.

Great Acquisition
Excellent acquisition. The value and the resolution was so great. The pictures are really clear and colorfull but the zoom is +AA. Much better than the Cyber Shot and the other ones.

An Outstanding Inexpensive Camera
I bought this camera for my wife so she could carry it in her purse, instead of slinging her SLR around her neck. This camera has so many features that it is amazing. Beautiful pictures, clear, no shake, lighting is great, incredible boot time, practically instant. Panoramic stitching in the camera, video, rapid shoot. If you miss a shot with this one, you were asleep. I'm buying a red one for myself.

Searched for a long time & settled with this one
I researched for a couple months on finding a new camera for myself. I stuck with this one due to the zoom capacity, the many functions and the reviews were fairly better than the other ones I looked at. I am not, by far, an expert photographer but I know what I like and how I want my pictures to come out.
This camera is really easy to use and figure out. On the down side, I was also looking for compact, and I got it. Sometimes it is difficult to hold and take pictures. MAKE sure you keep that wrist band on. The functions are great. I also use the micro function when doing really close up pictures for my ebay store (The Bargain Barrel) and it comes out crystal clear. It took me awhile to figure that one out!!
Overall I am really pleased with my purchase and pictures!!

Customer Review :
Disappointing, to say the least
The FE-340 is the third Olympus camera that I have purchased. Not that I am loyal to the Olympus brand, but I am used to the controls so I figured I can't go wrong. That was a mistake. This is the worst of the cameras I have bought. I love the re-chargeable battery, but that is about the extent of what is good about this camera. Pictures consistently come out blurry, no matter what mode is used. I have taken many pictures at events I have attended, only to come home and find that they are blurry and thus useless. I would not recommend this camera.

Olympus is a terrible company!!!
I had this item for two weeks and was kneeling on the floor taking a picture and the camera slipped out of my hands. It fell maybe a foot (remember, I was kneeling). When i picked it back up it would not turn on. We sent it bck to Olympus because we were well within warranty, and they sent us a letter back saying that since it was an "impact" issue, our warranty was null and void, but that they would be happy to repair it for us for $90. The camera cost us $175 new! They wanted to charge us over half of the cost of a new camera to fix it when they should have honored their warranty anyway! We will never buy an Olympus again and I recommend that you do not waste your money!

Panorama with 2G Olympus XD memory doesn't work
I'd give this a better rating, but I can't do Panorama Pictures with the new 2Gb Olympus brand XD card I bought with the camera. I put a 1Gb Olympus XD in and the Panorama option works. So, it looks like the camera has a firmware problem recognizing the newer 2Gb Olympus XD cards.
Olympus will only allow Panorama pictures with "their" brand XD cards. So, I was extremely disappointed when I discovered this problem.
So, I only gave this a 3-star rating since with 8Mp pictures you really do want to use as large of memory cards as possible... For all types of pictures.
No firmware update is currently available on the Olympus website to fix the problem. If they fix this problem... I'd give the camera a 4 or possibly 5 star rating.

This slick, light weight camera is the best I've ever had. It's simple to use, yet comes with so many endless options to choose from for all occasion's. You can choose your picture size and it also records. The Olympus CD is easy to use, and pictures upload and print beautifully. I highly recommend this camera for everybody!!

Customer Review :
Great!
This camera is a replacement for a super crappy one I got for free from somewhere long ago, with horrible lighting and all the other crappy features you'd expect from a crappy camera. But this one was 10 steps up.
1. I adore the color! Of course, who wouldn't? 2. Very fast first-shot time! No more than 3 secs. 3. Connects to my computer and my tv for easy viewing and sharing! 4. Very convenient battery charging, slides in and out of the charger like butter, but not the fastest charging in the world. 5. Battery life is very good, 4/5. 6. The size is just awesome! Even in its case, it fits everywhere! For a small, compact little camera to have so much is great. 7. Face/smile recognition is useful, but not entirely acurate. 8. Additional storage space is easily added, and it comes with a 1GB SD card. There is an adapter included for even more with Micro SD's, sold seperately. 9. Very large screen, but no viewfinder. I don't mind, since I have glasses and can't use them easily anyway. 10. Average next-shot delay. 11. Visible noise barely noticeable. 12. Seamless transfers from the camera to the computer, software installed quickly. Though I would suggest choosing the transfer destination folder FIRST, before transferring any. I made the mistake of overlooking the destination, and they all went straight to the wrong place. Moving them and then relinking them is quite difficult. I'm sure there's some snazzy way of getting it done in a snap, but I'm not that geeky. 13. The wrist strap that comes with is HUGE! I have tiny wrists to be modest, and honestly this thing barely grasps my father's wrist, which is quite thick. I never use wrist straps anyway, so I won't bother fixing it. 14. The end of the USB cord that goes into the camera is actually shrinking with the newer models. My older, crappier camera's USB cord won't fit into this one, but thank goodness this one comes with! 15. The zoom is just godly. That's what you really want to look for in a camera, megapixels and optical zoom. This one's got 5x, which is exceptional for a compact like this one. 16. You can even change the display to show a grid while taking pics! Good for lining things up and getting a straight shot. 17. Speaking of straight shots, this one's got an image stabilizer, which is supposed to steady the picture being taken if you've got a shaky hand. 18. It may stabilize pictures from shakers, but not pictures of shakers! Large movements blur easily. 17. Videos with sound! That couldn't happen on my crappy camera.
All in all, awesome camera! There's lots more to say, but I don't want you to hurt your eyes. Well worth the money, though I didn't buy mine on amazon, but instead at Costco. I believe it was either cheaper or the same. It came with a 50 day warranty, but I'm not sure whether you get one here. Well, this is a very nice point and shoot compact. Highly recommended!

The FE-370 delivers a surprising level of performance in a compact package. Its precision 5x zoom lens captures the exciting details of every scene. Thanks to dual image stabilization, a feature that combines both mechanical and digital image stabilization and is incorporated in an FE series model for the very first time, clear images are always ensured. In addition, intelligent auto mode makes it easy to take great images - it can automatically detect a range of common shooting scenes and then adjust settings accordingly. With Advanced Face Detection technology, the FE-370 is the ideal camera for perfect pictures of human subjects. It's able to recognize up to 16 distinct faces and select the ideal shooting parameters - and matched with the smile shot function, it will automatically take the picture when it detects your subject's smile. Like its fellow FE series cameras, its small and sleek metal body features 8 megapixels. Shots can be framed and reviewed on the large 6.9cm/2.7" LCD.

Horrible indoor pictures
This camera is ok for outdoor pictures or very well lit indoor pictures but if it is even a little dark forget it. I took some pictures with it at a wedding and 90% were blurry for no reason, even pictures of still objects also came out blurry. The battery life is absolutely terrible I only got about 60 shots on the rechargeable battery which is not enough for anything. Don't buy there are many better cameras then this.

Great camera for the money
Of coarse the camera is not the top of the line but it is a great camera. It does everything I want it to. It has a great quality video with adequate sound. The picture taken is nice and good quality. I can take decent pictures in dim light. The price was something I could afford but the time it takes to take a photo is annoying. It has a delay while it does the auto focus or red eye but what do you expect with a digital camera. I would purchase again, in fact my last camera was an Olympus, good brand!

good little camera
Only having used for 2 days, this is a nice little point and shoot camera. There is only moderate adjustments that you can make (ISO, White Balance, Exposure compensation), and no shutter speed or manual focus, but it takes great pictures on auto setting. The super macro is nice, letting you get as close as 1". Battery life seems very good, after its first charge we filled the onboard memory (most pictures had flash) and had many reviews of our collection, battery power still looks full! My favorite part is that this thing is tiny! - Olympus website states it can use microSD -or- microSDHC cards (much cheaper than xD cards)
Pros: Tiny, lightweight, good pictures. Cons: No manual focus or shutter speed.

Never Olympus again
I would have liked to know what accessories were necessary to make the camera work properly. The way it is shipped it can take only eight pictures. The booklet with instructions is badly written and confusing.
I tried to contact Olympus support to understand what I had to do to have my camera working properly. They were rude and never answered my question or my complaint. I got no help at all from them. I am still asking help from friends or going to camera shops to get some help. I found out that I now have two alternatives, either to throw more money out the window to get the additional equipment I need (without being sure it is all that is required and that it will work properly) or to get another camera. I will probably exchange the camera for a decent one.
If you ever want a camera buy any other brand but never an Olympus. As far as I am concerned I am sorry I even considered this camera.

Questions & Answers
Question : Anyone have an Olympus digital camera?
I've owned two different Olympus cameras now and both times have had trouble with battery life. I'll put in a brand new pair of batteries and within an unreasonable amount of time the camera tells me the battery is dead and turns off. I've tried different brands of batteries and still no luck. What gives? Anyone else have this problem?
Answer:
I'm on my second Olympus also, and there are several issues to content with any digital camera. If you mainly use the camera indoors, the constant firing of the flash will help to kill the batteries. Also remember that using the optical zoom function often, will do likewise. Lastly, leaving the LCD monitor on for long periods will shorten the fun. Answer -go to Target or Walmart and buy rechargeable AA's for $20. This has nothing to do with Olympus.

Question : My Olympus digital camera won't focus, what do I do?
I have an Olympus FE-280 and all of the sudden it just started not focusing. Whenever I turn it on it makes these weird beeping noises and once the picture actually shows up it's all blurry and won't even take un-blurred pictures. I've never dropped it and the camera is only about five months old. Is there anyway that I can fix it?
Answer:
SEND IT IN UNDER WARRANTY

Question : How to import videos INTO an Olympus Digital Camera?
Usually, there is a guide for how to import FROM a digital camera.
My question is, how do you import videos back into a digital camera?
Camera Type: Olympus
Type of File: AVI
I'm trying to display my birthday video from my T.V., but the file was taken from another camera and sent by email from a friend...
Thank you for your patience.
Answer:
You can TRY this,
Use Windows Explorer screen. It's a split screen. ON the left is your drives (including the d: or e: ((whatever your camera is connect to & your compter drives too).
Have your camera ON & connected & in the USB transfer mode:
Click on the file on the left where your video is saved.
In the right pane find the video, right click & COPY it,
ON the Left pane, click your camera drive,
Click on the drive or the camera or the internal storage folder within the camera drive, and
then right click & choose PASTE.
You'll have your original on your computer & a copy in your camera.

Question : Can you help me decide if I should keep my new Olympus digital camera.?
I just got a new Olympus FE-230 7.1 digital camera. It takes an xD memory card. My Gateway Media Center laptop has a port that accepts SD size memory cards, but not the smaller xD. I have not even taken the camera out of the box. I'm thinking I should exchange it for a camera that requires SD cards so it will be compatible with my computer . Please help me decide. I don't need anything fancy, just a basic camera and this one seems to fit the bill. Would I be better off with one that takes SD cards? (for computer compatibility) Seems like there are more SD cards on the market than xDs. Does that mean they are better? If YOU were buying a camera today would it make any difference to you if it took an SD card or an xD card? Thanks.
Answer:
The camera that you purchased is a very nice camera and is inexpensive. I would say that you should keep the camera and that you should purchase a card reader or just use the USB cable that came with the camera(even though it is a little slower and will eat up some battery life) but you can recharge the battery and as long as you keep up with that you should just use the USB cable that is in the box.
Keep the camera.
SD is not better or worse by the way, but olympus and fuji both make XD and that is one way they are able to compete in the Digital Camera mkt. by making proprietary accessories.

Question : What Program comes with the digital olympus camera ?
The program that pops up when you plug the camera into the computer.
It's a Olympus FE-100 4.0 megapixel, we bought it like one or two years ago...
If that helps. Whatever.
Answer:
go to the manufacture site
and it will tell you about the program

Question : I need to know how to transfer pictures from my computer to a memory stick? I have an Olympus Digital Camera?
and the USB to connect to the computer. I recently bought a digital frame not knowing I needed to use a memory stick. I always transfer the pictures from my memory stick to my camera and then delete them. Now I would like to put them on the frame. If there is a way please let me know. Thanks.
Answer:
Memory Stick? Those are used by Sony exclusively. Your camera probably uses xD memory cards.
Now to your question; with each digital image frame there are instructions on how to fill the memory card of choice to store images you want the frame to exhibit. Most digital frames will take all current memory cards (CF, SD, xD and yes, Memory Sticks as well as USB flash memory modules.
Just follow the instructions and your frame will be able to display your choice of images.

the batteries are full,
it takes pictures and works fine.
my computer is a windows.
im using the program that came with the camera (olympus master 2).
oh and it use to upload just fine before now
oh and the computer also doesn't detect anything.
so why does it shut off when conected?
yes the batteries are new
and good condition
Answer:
The batteries may be fully charged, but are they in good condition? If you've got another set of batteries, or a DC supply, I'd try those.
