Panorama with 2G Olympus XD memory doesn't work
I'd give this a better rating, but I can't do Panorama Pictures with the new 2Gb Olympus brand XD card I bought with the camera. I put a 1Gb Olympus XD in and the Panorama option works. So, it looks like the camera has a firmware problem recognizing the newer 2Gb Olympus XD cards.
Olympus will only allow Panorama pictures with "their" brand XD cards. So, I was extremely disappointed when I discovered this problem.
So, I only gave this a 3-star rating since with 8Mp pictures you really do want to use as large of memory cards as possible... For all types of pictures.
No firmware update is currently available on the Olympus website to fix the problem. If they fix this problem... I'd give the camera a 4 or possibly 5 star rating.

All is as promised
I bought this camera for my step daughter for christmas. I was pleased with the shipping time. I cannot really rate the product because she has not said anything about the camera.
Rating :
Disappointing, to say the least
The FE-340 is the third Olympus camera that I have purchased. Not that I am loyal to the Olympus brand, but I am used to the controls so I figured I can't go wrong. That was a mistake. This is the worst of the cameras I have bought. I love the re-chargeable battery, but that is about the extent of what is good about this camera. Pictures consistently come out blurry, no matter what mode is used. I have taken many pictures at events I have attended, only to come home and find that they are blurry and thus useless. I would not recommend this camera.

Olympus is a terrible company!!!
I had this item for two weeks and was kneeling on the floor taking a picture and the camera slipped out of my hands. It fell maybe a foot (remember, I was kneeling). When i picked it back up it would not turn on. We sent it bck to Olympus because we were well within warranty, and they sent us a letter back saying that since it was an "impact" issue, our warranty was null and void, but that they would be happy to repair it for us for $90. The camera cost us $175 new! They wanted to charge us over half of the cost of a new camera to fix it when they should have honored their warranty anyway! We will never buy an Olympus again and I recommend that you do not waste your money!

Excellent
This slick, light weight camera is the best I've ever had. It's simple to use, yet comes with so many endless options to choose from for all occasion's. You can choose your picture size and it also records. The Olympus CD is easy to use, and pictures upload and print beautifully. I highly recommend this camera for everybody!!

Awesome Camera! Love it!
After going over tons of reviews for tons of cameras I finally purchased the Olympus FE-250. That was absolutely the best decision I ever made! I love this camera so much. Pics turn out wonderfully. I have only had it for a few weeks and still learning, but it's pretty simple. My favorite part: It takes panoramic pics; it will snap 10 shots super fast. Perfect for getting pics of my kiddos in action! It's so small and compact it fits in my back pocket easily. It's sleek, classy & gorgeous. I have gotten so many complements on this product. Would definitley recommend this to anyone wanting a can that can do just about anything but needs simplicity as well.

great camera!
I have had 2 digital cameras previously that were much more expensive, and I still like this one better! It's really light and small, and super easy to use (even my dad can use it!). I highly recommend it.

Small camera, great photos, slow shutter speed
Purchased this camera through Beach Camera. Happy with the company, very happy with the quality of photos from the Olympus FE-250. Colors are vibrant, the camera itself is VERY compact. I would recommend buying a case for it, I scratched it on it's first use, but probably because I was so used to tossing my old dinosaur of a digi-cam around. the only complaint is the shutter speed is quite slower than some other cameras, so if you like to take quick photos, this isn't the best bet. but if you're in the market for an easy to use, compact, nice looking camera that takes nice looking photos, I recommend it.
Rating :
Bad low light
The camera itself is a thing of beauty - very sleek and compact. The features are nice, but in a decently lit room I couldn't get rid of the noise in the background where it was a little darker. The camera was stolen before I could experiment with it much more (still a bit bitter about that), but for a basic point and shoot, you could do worse.
Rating :
good but I thought that the quality of the image would be better
The size of the camera is great and easy to use; I was happy with my purchase the only thing is that the quality of the image in the picture is not perfect. Not bad for the price.

Great underwater camers Olympus 710
Great product! I use it with the underwater case and get superb results while scuba diving.

Buyer beware of the 5f 08 5e 02 lens problem!!
I purchased the Olympus Stylus 710 brand new in 2006. During the 2 years that I have owned it, it has proven to be a fairly dependable camera. General performance was good although the indoor shots (with flash) and outdoor action shots (i.e. kids playing soccer) could have been better. For some reason, any indoor shot with flash that involves the zoom always ends up dark and blurry, so it's pretty much a given that if I use my zoom and my flash indoors, I will get blurry pictures. Macro shots with a flash aren't that great either. Nevertheless, I've been fairly happy with it.....
...until a couple of weeks ago. While taking pictures during our beach vacation, I was appalled when my camera stopped working. In the midst of taking shots, I got this odd whirring sound, the lens popped in and out, then the LCD screen turned blue. An error message: "D : 5f 08 5e 02" appeared on the screen and my camera stopped working. I was able to view the pictures I had taken, but the same whirring/lens popping/blue screen thing happened each time I tried to take a picture.
All this within 2 1/2 years of purchase!! So this camera is dead and it would cost me almost as much as a new camera to have the problem fixed. I find it completely unacceptable for a camera to stop working this quickly (I had a manual point-and-shoot Canon Sureshot back in the day which lasted 10 years and counting!). Needless to say, this has completely turned me off from Olympus and I'm never buying an Olympus camera again!! Buyer beware - check the net for '5f08' or '5e02' problems and you will find lots of them. I wish I had known this before purchasing it. I would have looked elsewhere!

Love the camera, hate the battery door!
We've had this camera since April 2006. I've been extremely happy with it overall. It's light, easy to carry around, has a fast shutter speed, decent zoom, reasonable price, and takes pretty good pictures.
However, my battery door broke. My friend has the same camera and it's happened to her TWICE. Each time it needs to be fixed Olympus' customer service charges a flat rate $105 repair fee and then they try and get to to pay them an extra $x to upgrade to a newer version of the camera you already have. It's a total racket. Although they won't tell you this directly, you CAN order a replacement part and fix this problem yourself. I was able to find one online for twenty-two dollars, including shipping and it was very easy to replace. I hope this helps someone! :)

Good camera, but I think there are better
I used this camera on a trip to the Galapagos Islands and mainland Ecuador. It is capable of getting some truly great shots and many of my photos look professional quality. I will spend more time on the downsides of the camera than the up, because it seems like the reviews are innundated with positive reviews already. And the camera certainly does have its drawbacks. Granted, I was a fairly heavy user, spending weeks in the rainforest and on fine, sandy beaches, hiking and doing other activities.
First off, the LCD screen cracked, which isn't a huge deal, but some other reviewers may say it is very hard to do... it's not that hard. Next, other parts did come loose, although they didn't fall off, and made the camera a little harder to use. Although it is marketed as weather-proof, a better term is slightly weather resistant. It couldn't seem to get a decent photo off in the rain, even when we stumbled on a tapir, quite a rare sight.
The zoom is practically worthless, but better than nothing, I suppose. On all of my pictures, I have to adjust the color saturation because the camera's normal pictures are somewhat dull-colored compared to real life; not a big deal, really, just an extra hassel. The "mode" settings suck, rare does one actually give you what you want. Night pictures are impossible, it is very hard to set the camera to a slow enough shutter speed to turn out with a good picture. The camera has an incredibly hard time in bad lighting (into sun, cloudy skies, etc), though so do all cameras, however, this one seems a little bit worse than most.
After saying so many bad things, I feel a little guilty, the camera really is pretty good overall. It is slim and easy to carry around. The quality is great, as long as the lighting is good. The macro is amazing.
Bottom line: I just want you all to realize the drawbacks it has before buying. It is a good camera, and pretty cheap nowadays so if you are on a budget, this may be a good pick.

Great Overall Camera
This camera is a great balance of high quality pictures, zoom, price, size, and durability. As seen in the pics at Disneyland and California Adventures, it takes excellent pictures that capture sharp details. The camera also suffered a drop during this trip, and the fall didn't phase it at all. Another selling point for me was that it's weather-proof and that a rechargeable battery is included. You don't have to worry about precipitation spoiling the camera or buying batteries/rechargeable battery kit. The only downside to this camera was that I had to buy the memory card separately (but that would have had to happen with any other camera, as I found in my research - I recommend the 2GB...nearly 500 pics on super high quality!). This camera is the total package and I highly recommend it!

Grainy Pictures!
I bought this camera after doing plenty of research and previously owning an Olympus camera. Well, it seems the 5 year old Olympus worked better than this one.
I hate this camera! If you are shooting outdoors with plenty of light or macro pictures, your shots will probably come out alright.
Any pictures I have taken indoors, in low light with a flash come out looking grainy, and several look blurry, even though I have image stabilizer turned on. The image stabilizer doesn't appear to do anything.
The zoom is also horrible, and all the picture I have used zoom on have turned out grainy.
I'm very disappointed, especially considering I paid [...] for this camera. I think I'm going to buy a Canon to replace it.

EXCELLENT COMPACT DIGITAL
Ok i read reviews about this product and the nikon cool pix. I own a large SLR Nikon D80. I ave shot with a small canon powershot for years. I started in manual 35 mm. This camera is great. I was happy for years with the photo quality of my Canon , as well with their software and support. It was an early model and slow. I am learning my big Nikon D80 and for its money i am sure it can do loads of brilliant things, still not terribly active with it and disappointed in Nikons Web support and image quality sometimes. As i said it may be i haven't unlocked its potential but small reservations along with reviews led me to be suspect of going with Nikon on my new compact digital. A friend suggested olympus, i saw some of her photos from a very basic and older model and the color was amazing...stil hesitant to go with a manufacture i never handled, the reviews seemed positive and the photos i had seen were proof. I bought this model and almost everything is perfect. - It SHoots very large format photos for later processing. -Adjusts quickly, -the flash photograpy retains the color you were looking for in the first place - preset modes, menus and choices are fully functional and usable as tools. -enough manual adjustment and preview mode to real have some flexibility in creating the right look in the photo. -menu was easy to learn -though i have photoshop, its own software program seems very straight forward and functional. -movie mode -panorama -they don't really explain enough about it various features and settings in the product description. Cons are: it only has the digital viewer, no physical view finder. ie you find yourself shading it in bright light to see what you are trying to photo. not a problem for me though, everything else is too nice -as well they use the their own media type exclusive to Olympus. I got over that too! Great buy you won't be disappointed

A fuzzy camera
An unwise purchase. I bought this for a specific use: to shoot pictures on mountain bike trips, and was attracted by the shockproof/splashproof/size features. My 14 yr old son had one of these, and was raving about it. Unwisely I did not look closely at the images he was taking. So when it arrived and I tried it out, I found it gave unacceptably fuzzy scenery images, with unexciting colours, and moving targets also were fuzzy. Thinking it defective, I then did a close comparison with the results of my son's camera, shooting the same photos on each. Same result. I tried with and without image stabilisation, auto ISO vs fixed ISO etc, to no avail. So now am trying to sell/return the camera, and at same time telling our son it's just my camera that is a dud.
As a family we have had many digital cameras. Mainly Canon Powershot (3 in last 10 years), also 3 Panasonic Lumix (2 large, one pocket) and a Sony. These are more expensive, but considerably better quality, and the cameras we now use normally are both Lumix. This is our comparison, and I at least expected the Olympus to take good quality pictures. For scenery neither of our two 760s do, and seem to go back to the quality of mid-1990s digitals.
My last 2 Canon Powershot both stopped working because the sensors died, after 4-5 years. I took the latest, a 2003 Powershot S400, into repair just now and was quoted an impossible $300. But while there I saw and checked out the bottom range Canon A460, for $99 on Amazon approx. Certainly without the size or robust features of the Olympus, but the picture quality seemed very good in comparison. At half price, I think this will be a better bet for mountain biking!

Great Camera for the Money
The Amazon website was the only place where I found this camera at such a great price, I was looking for a digital camera that was over 7 megapizels and had a rechargeable lithium battery, as cameras that use double a batteries tend to eat them up too quickly. The camera arrived very promptly with no problems, and I had no problem charging the battery and inserting the memory card. I bought it for my boyfriend who tends to rough up electronics, so that is another reasoon why I chose this camera, as it advertises being weather proof (to a certain degree obviously) and reinforced a big more securely than other cameras, including the Sony digital camera I own. It takes great pictures and the battery is very long lasting. I was very pleased with my purchase, and so is my boyfriend. Thanks!

Great Price Great Camera
I bought this camera for my 14 yr old daughter for Christmas. She left the day after Christmas for a 12 day trip up north. She took a lot of pictures while she was there. The quality of the pictures are great for a point and shoot. She had a Samsung point and shoot before this and said there is no comparison between the two. The Olympus doesn't have a long delay from the time you press the button and it actually takes the picture. It is thin and very light. If you are looking for a good point and shoot camera, this would be an excellent choice.

This camera met all my needs for an easy to use point and shoot camera. I like the fact that it has its own on board rechargable battery. no need to keep feeding it batteries. I like the many different settings it has for the environment of your subject. Has a very light and compact design. It's a good price for the amount of features. This camera is water resistant and pretty durable.

Questions & Answers
Question : How should I clean my Olympus digital camera?
I want to know the best way to clean my screen and outside of my DIGITAL CAMERA! Thanks!
Answer:
Just use a lint free cloth to clean the digital camera. If it is really sticky you can find cleaning pads for electronics which should be safe. The best option is to contact your manufacturer and ask them what their cleaning recommendation is. Good Luck!

Question : My Olympus digital camera won't focus, what do I do?
I have an Olympus FE-280 and all of the sudden it just started not focusing. Whenever I turn it on it makes these weird beeping noises and once the picture actually shows up it's all blurry and won't even take un-blurred pictures. I've never dropped it and the camera is only about five months old. Is there anyway that I can fix it?

Question : Anyone have an Olympus digital camera?
I've owned two different Olympus cameras now and both times have had trouble with battery life. I'll put in a brand new pair of batteries and within an unreasonable amount of time the camera tells me the battery is dead and turns off. I've tried different brands of batteries and still no luck. What gives? Anyone else have this problem?
Answer:
I'm on my second Olympus also, and there are several issues to content with any digital camera. If you mainly use the camera indoors, the constant firing of the flash will help to kill the batteries. Also remember that using the optical zoom function often, will do likewise. Lastly, leaving the LCD monitor on for long periods will shorten the fun. Answer -go to Target or Walmart and buy rechargeable AA's for $20. This has nothing to do with Olympus.

Question : How to add the date and time in my Digital camera photos(Olympus F232)?
I am using Olympus F232 Digital camera. When I copied the photos to the system, I need the Date and Time of photo shoot
in the copied photo. In the Camera where I have to do this setting to get the date and time .
Answer:
Information about date, time, exposure etc. is held in the exif information of each picture. Your image processing app should be able to display this, or you could get an app like EXIF ShellExtension which allows you to display the information in Windows Explorer.
There are apps which will add this info to your images, but I've never used one in anger - you could try Jpeg Exif Stamper, it's free.

Question : Can you help me decide if I should keep my new Olympus digital camera.?
I just got a new Olympus FE-230 7.1 digital camera. It takes an xD memory card. My Gateway Media Center laptop has a port that accepts SD size memory cards, but not the smaller xD. I have not even taken the camera out of the box. I'm thinking I should exchange it for a camera that requires SD cards so it will be compatible with my computer . Please help me decide. I don't need anything fancy, just a basic camera and this one seems to fit the bill. Would I be better off with one that takes SD cards? (for computer compatibility) Seems like there are more SD cards on the market than xDs. Does that mean they are better? If YOU were buying a camera today would it make any difference to you if it took an SD card or an xD card? Thanks.
Answer:
The camera that you purchased is a very nice camera and is inexpensive. I would say that you should keep the camera and that you should purchase a card reader or just use the USB cable that came with the camera(even though it is a little slower and will eat up some battery life) but you can recharge the battery and as long as you keep up with that you should just use the USB cable that is in the box.
Keep the camera.
SD is not better or worse by the way, but olympus and fuji both make XD and that is one way they are able to compete in the Digital Camera mkt. by making proprietary accessories.

Question : I have an olympus digital camera that keeps saying my "sim card is locked"?
I have not used the camera for about four months and I had never put a pass code of any kind into it but now it's asking me to enter my code. Why has this happened and is there anyway to get around it. Other sim cards work in the camera but now all of a sudden my larger memory sim card is asking for a damn password. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answer:
There is a white switch on your sim flick it up.
