Excellent!
Excellent Camera, which is now 4,5 years old and still working properly. The reason I decided to write this review now (I had forgot) is to say the Kodak cameras have a good advantage over the sony ones: the dimension of the pictures are the same of the printed photos (same proportion) and the computers screens. This means nothing is cut when you get them printed.

Kodak DX 3600 a trustworthy camera...
I've had a kodak DX 3600 camera now for about 2 years. I have found that the quality of pictures has been excellent and the video mode is brilliant, as few digital cameras offer video with sound being recorded too. At the start i had battery problems and problems with it powering down unexpectedly but it was sent back to Kodak and it was a faulty connection between the power section and main part of the camera, since then i have had little problems with power, like all didgital cameras they do go through batteries but just be sure to have enough charged up, and the dock it comes with handily charges the batteries. At 2.2 mega pixels i have found it brilliant, there is brilliant image quality for what i'm using it for and it doesn't take up alot of hard drive space, with the average photo taking up about 400Kb on the best picture quality setting. I would reccemmend this camera.

Battery Life is Very Poor
The Kodak DX3600 would be a very nice camera except that battery life is very poor. I'm lucky to get 8 pictures before the batteries go dead (I use rechargeable batteries with the Easy Share dock, and AA Alkalines).[...] Kodak is aware of the problem. Here is their response to my query about poor battery life...
'Because batteries are chemical products involving internal chemical reactions, their performance may deteriorate with prolonged storage. NiMH rechargeable batteries, if not used for a while, may need to be reconditioned as you would when using them for the first time. Otherwise, deactivation of the internal reactants may cause decreased capacity, which causes premature termination of charging. In other words, the batteries will not charge completely, even though the dock indicates they have.
If this happens, we have a couple of recommendations. First, make sure you have the latest firmware. If you don't, consider updating your camera to the latest version. You can locate the update by going to:
http://www.kodak.com/go/software
Once there, choose your camera from the list. The next page will offer all the available software for your model, including any current firmware updates, if available. The firmware download will have a "Read-me" file that contains the directions for performing the update.
Once you have successfully completed the update, we recommend conditioning your battery the way you would if it were being used for the first time, as we mentioned above. It is important that you be sure you always have a fully charged battery. To do so, place the camera on the KODAK EASYSHARE Camera Dock. When the charge light turns green (all three green lights are lit for a Dock II), then remove the camera from the dock FOR A MINIMUM OF 5 MINUTES, and place it back on the dock. The 5 minutes the camera is off the dock are the key to correct recharging for a new or uncharged battery. Repeat this same process until the combined charging time, while the light is red on the dock, EQUALS A MINIMUM OF 2 HOURS.
Once you have completed this charging process, we recommend that you leave the camera on its dock and intermittently check it for power (remove from the dock for a while then replace it). If you use your camera frequently, of course, you will always have a charged battery because you will be removing and replacing it. If you do not use your camera frequently, periodically remove the camera from the dock and take a few test shots. Doing this assures a properly maintained battery so that you will have lots of power.
Do not make the mistake of trying to charge the KODAK PHOTOLIFE Lithium Battery, CRV3, that comes with the camera. It is not rechargeable, and an attempt to do so could result in leakage. Also, please be aware that the camera will only charge the KODAK KAA2HR NiMh Battery. Non-Kodak batteries or individual AA rechargeable batteries (including Kodak batteries) are not compatible with this charger. If you need a separate charger, they are available at the Kodak online store.
Remember, your camera's dock is only charging when it displays the red light. If the light is green, that means it is either done charging or has detected another type of battery it cannot charge.
PLEASE NOTE! Your camera's batteries lose power during image reviews and when adjusting camera settings. Use of the LCD screen is also a big drain.......................'
If I had known about the battery problem I never would have bought this camera. Did you read the section above when Kodak states "the batteries will not charge completely, even though the dock indicates they have." We can send robots to Mars but we can't make a battery charger that knows when a battery is really charged? What the hell good is a battery charger that doesn't know if a battery is charged or not? So just because the little green light says charged you can't believe it. I tried the firmware upgrade and that was futile, no help at all, just a waste of time.As is, I now carry at least 8 AA Alkalines (they last about 10 pictures if you keep the LCD turned off) whenever I use this camera away from home because you never know when it will just shut down by itself from weak batteries. In defense to the camera I will say that it takes good pictures in daylight (night pictures with flash are worthless), I like the fact you can add other lenses and the built in video recorder is ok. The included software is nice. It includes options to adjust tint, brightness, crop etc.... The photo album is easy to use and makes saving the pictures easy. Also the removable compactflash card is a nice feature. So if you decide to get this camera be prepared to buy lots of AA batteries. Personally I will never buy another Kodak product. I don't think it's right to sell a product with an apparent design flaw and then offer the consumer a, in my opinion, worthless remedy. These cameras should have been recalled and the consumer offered a full refund or a camera that works the way it should!

Excellent Quality for 2.2 meg. but battery life bad.
This camera surprisingly prints great quality pictures in 3x5 to 5x7 sizes. The only problem I have with this camera is the rechargeable battery life is poor. The camera dock and the rapid charger does not adequately charge the batteries and I own 3 batteries and have a problem with all of them. I own the Kodak DX6490 now and do not have a problem with the battery keeping charged, so I believe they fixed this problem with later models.

Trouble from the start
First - I do have to say that the camera is relatively easy to use and takes very nice pictures. However, the battery life with this camera has been problematic since the first day that we received it. We have used several different batteries, as well as different battery chargers in an effort to rule out other problems. But this camera continued to be a problem. Eventually replaced with a Sony DSC-P93 - and haven't looked back since. Glad to be rid of this camera - very frustrating when you are trying to use a product to record your family's memories, and constantly run into problems with a quirky camera...

BEST camera
I LOVE this thing, had it for 5 months now. It is easy to use, easy to upload pics to PC. The ZOOM is FANTASTIC. Preview screen is big. I even bought a refurbished one and I have had NO problems at all. Can not use regular alkaline batteries in this. I have rechargeable ones which I don't care for cause you have to always have them charging. I got one "CRV3 Kodak" non- rechargeable battery with the camera and it lasted me for 2 months before it died and I was using flash and d/l them online with the same battery. I bought a lot of them on Amazon or ebay for cheap. Def the way to go if your traveling.

Question : Has anyone used the new Kodak digital camera to take sports pics in a high school gym?
I have a camera but the pictures always come out blury. I was told I need a stableization in my camera like the new Kodak has. I want to make sure if I get that camera it will work fine. It is frustrating because I want to take good action shots of my son on the court and they come out blury. Any feedback?
Answer:
sorry you heard that.
a stabilizer takes away your hand shaking not an object moving.
the light in a gym seems bright.
but, it fools the camera.
if you write an email to me and tell me what kind of camera you have - I might be able to help you.
the best thing you can do without changing the camera settings - is to get as close as you can and use the flash.

Question : Question about Kodak digital camera and windows movie maker?
I have a Kodak digital "easy share" camera. It records video and i've put a couple video files from my camera directly on my computer. I can view them through Quicktime or on the internet (after uploaded), but windows media player doesnt work for them. They are in ".mov" format, and i dont know why i cant play them on windows. I also want to know why it wont let me upload them onto windows movie maker to edit and make a movie out of them. It says that ".mov" files are uploadable under WMM help, yet every time i try to upload them it says something along the lines of it not being compatable.
Does anybody know why this is? Is there a way i can change it or fix it? I've gone through windows help of all sorts and cant seem to come to a solution.
Serious answers only please.
Thankyou!!!

Question : Free online digital camera software for transfering editing and sharing? I hate my Kodak software?
I have a kodak digital camera and use the software that came with it to transfer pics from my camera and to edit them. I also use their gallery to share photos without having to email them. Does anyone know of a free online site that will let me do all these things. I really don't like the kodak.
Answer:
Picasa is a great one. It will transfer the pictures from the camera, allow you to set up galleries, edit the pictures, and soon upload them to a web-based gallery. http://www.picasa.com

Question : I have a "dinosaur" (old, big) Kodak digital camera. How do I get it to install to my computer?
I called Kodak support and they no longer provide support for my model, the DX3500. However, the rep did tell me that it is compatible with Kodak's EasyShare software. I lost the software it came with in a move. Beyond that, I am clueless.
When I plug my USB into the computer, nothing happens, the Easyshare software that I downloaded does not automatically pop up. When I try and install the camera in "Control Panel" my model does not come up on the list, so it says to to use the software.
Is there something about being the administrator of the computer???
Any help you have would be great. I have 400+ pictures of my NB twins on my camera that I cannot download and need to get a new camera when I can afford one! So any tips you have are greatly appreciated since I'm stuck with this one in the meantime!
Thanks!

Question : Transfering pictures from Kodak digital camera to Dell Desktop?
I recently reformatted my hard drive. Before I would plug my Kodak digital camera in and then a menu would pop up and I could transfer my pictures from my camera to my Dell Dimenson 3000 desktop. I could also do some minor editing like the darkness and cropping. Now when I plug in the camera, nothing happens. Do I need to reinstall a driver or software. I had whatever was standard/came with the computer. What do I need to get it back to the way it was before I reformatted the computer?
I already have the CD that came with camera and tried D/L software from Kodak. Both are the same. I don't like that program, too complicated. I am looking for the program that came with the computer, but not sure what it would be called.
Answer:
If you go to the Kodak website, you can type in the model of the camera that you have and it will give you the option of downloading the updated drivers for your camera as well as the updated "EasyShare" software. No need to look for you CD that came with the camera. You may have to register on the site but it's ad/spy-free anyway and you can opt-out of emails. Hope that helps.

Question : How can I get a clearer picture on my Kodak digital camera?
I have a P850 Kodak digital camera and I can't get close up pictures ( of flowers, animals etc..) to be very clear. Any suggestions?
Answer:
well if you have the 24-140 lens than your minimum focusing distance is 2.0 - 20.4 inches in macro focusing range according the datasheet online i found for this camera.
if you are staying within those limits and have the lens or camera set to macro it should be in focus. if not try using a tripod to keep the camera steady alot of times its you moving and you don't realize it. if not staying within 2.0-20.4 inches of your subject and you need to get further or closer try close up filters wich any decent camera store should sell and carry. or try buying a macro lens which only does macro. lmk if these solutions don't help- i love helping solve camera problems like this.

Question : I have a Kodak Digital Camera and it got wet, how can I fix it myself?
I have a Kodak Easy Share Z740 Digital Camera that was sent to get repaired but the extendant warranty does not cover water/moisture getting into the camera. My dad is going to kill me when he finds out!! I'm in a hurry,Please help me.
Answer:
If you have to ask you don''t have the technical ability yourself. Look in your phone book and see if there is a local camera repair centre and pay for the repair yourself.
As this camera is a low end one it may not be worth the cost of repairing it. Maybe a replacement is in order.
Have you ever thought of being honest with your father? As a parent I know I would prefer the last option.
Good luck
