DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA!!!!!!
I have purchased two of these cameras, in hopes of the second one working better than the first. They both had the exact same problem! They will not even stay on, the screen is constantly black! Sometimes I can take about 5 pictures & then it goes black & I have to replace the batteries. I have tried every kind of battery (including lithium & the actual Kodak brand) Nothing works! Kodak is well aware of the problem, yet they will not do anything to rectify the situation. Please do NOT buy this camera. It will only cause you hassle & heartache (constantly losing beautiful pictures of my 7 children - including Christmas morning!!) And by the way, for the couple times the camera actually did take pictures, the red-eye reduction is terrible - does NOT work at all! I sincerely hope I can save you $180 with this review. I wouldn't pay even $5 for this defective model from Kodak!

Great Camera!
Excellent camera, great photos, I ended up taking my canon back and I purchased this one in it's place, i don't have a regret yet. Excellent photos and video. You can't go wrong, it is easy to use.

I purchased this camera with high expectations on the 12MP. The quality of the pictures is not much better than the 7.1 MP I was using. The camera also seems to eat batteries. Picture quality at night is less than impressive. I will keep using it and maybe this is as good as it gets, I don't know.

Camera Has It All EXCEPT?
This camera was a Christmas present for my wife and she was so excited. Even had good results for first 50 pics. Then it started. Batteries, batteries and more batteries to finish up Christmas Eve. What a disappointment. Have to send back to Amazon (I THINK AMAZON IS THE ONLY PLACE FOR ONLINE SHOPPING. CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GODOD THINGS.) PS We used 12 batteries on Christmas Eve and even bought a charger and rechargeable batteries. These did not last any longer.

Excellent camera
I have been the proud owner of a Kodak Z710 for 2 years. It is a great camera especially for outdoors shots. I was able to stand on the sideline of my son's high school football games, snap random shots (not really focusing on anything in particular) and then zoom/crop the shots for some spectacular images. I've uploaded some of those under the Z710 review.
But, I was ready to upgrade since the trusty old Z710 wasn't great indoors at the basketball courts. I could never figure out the PASM settings so that I captured the fast action in dreadful gym lighting. I actually broke down and ordered a digital SLR from another retailer and gave it a try for a good month. I was surprised that the results weren't that much better than the Z710 so I have returned it.
Today, I headed off to try the Z1015 and I was very happy. The firmware upgrade on Kodak eliminates the wait time between shoots and if you turn off the automatic preview after each shot, you cut down on more time. I have just a 2MP memory card in it and I think that is slowing it down a bit, too.
However, tonight I played around with the camera. While sitting on my couch, I used the 15X optical zoom to zoom in on ornaments on the Christmas tree. Then, I cropped them further. Was I shocked! I only have the Christmas tree lights on and the images are stunning. You can see the detail as if I were standing right next to the tree (the couch is about 12 feet away from the tree).
For the regular photographer, this is a great camera. If you are considered a digital SLR, you might want to give this camera a try first. I would never have bought it but my older version Kodak just couldn't achieve good pictures in poor lighting conditions. This camera's higher ISO capability just might solve my dilemma. We'll find out...between 3 sons, we have 6 games in the next week. I'll post an update after I test my new Z1015 at the courts!

Poor LCD, problems with auto-focus, returned disappointed
Spent about a month researching this model and last year's (the Kodak EasyShare Z1012 10.1MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom) online. Reviews for the old one were more glowing than for the Z1015IS, but it seemed like once users upgraded the firmware to 1.03, all their problems with the Z1015IS vanished. The clincher for me was the longer zoom lens (15x vs 12x), and the 28mm wide angle - so I bought one. I was excited to find that it came preloaded with 1.03 (along with a separate sheet describing the changes in the firmware update).
BUT, I was disappointed in these aspects: Viewing angle of 3" LCD - The LCD washes out above the horizontal, making it difficult to take pictures from below eye level, like when you're taking a picture of your kids, but don't want to look "down" on them. Low resolution of 3" LCD - The specs answer this question, since the 3" LCD has the same resolution as the previous 2.5" LCD, so the pixels themselves are just bigger, yielding a blockier image. Poor auto-focus, even at wide angle - couldn't get a clear picture of my family in front of the Christmas tree, something my old Kodak EASYSHARE Z730 - Digital camera - 5.0 Mpix - optical zoom: 4 x - supported memory: MMC, SD and my father's Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS 7.1MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom did with ease.
Now I'm not a pro photographer, so maybe the PASM settings would have solved my problems in certain situations, but I feel that's too much work for a camera that presents itself as "Smart". And if the Perfect Touch processing is required to get a good picture, the time it takes to process (an option with the new firmware) is simply too long to know if you "got the shot".
I realize I may get flamed in the Comments for not taking the time to "get to know" the camera, but that's not what I want in a superzoom digital. My mistake for not researching more thoroughly. Returned the Z1015, and will look more closely at the Z1012, since it seems to be merely a slight upgrade from the older Z712, rather than the (poorly) redesigned Z1015.

Best Camera I've had
Absolutely love this camera! At first I was a little unsure if I wanted this Kodak or the Kodak Z1012IS. I went in to a local retailer and played around with the Z1012. After that I was sold on the Z1015. For just a few dollars more I was you get a larger LCD screen which is really nice, and a few other features. I had read reviews prior to my purchase of the Z1015 that talked about the processing time after taking the pictures. I noticed it with the Z1012 when I was in the store, and felt that I could deal with the issue. However when I got my Z1015 from Amazon and started to use it, it was really annoying. Although many reviews said that the free update that Kodak offers for the camera didn't do much I decided it was worth the try. It was more than worth it. No more processing time issues. I was able to shot over 20 pics back to back with no problem. The update also revised a portion of the smart capture mode. All and all this is an amazing camera that takes wonderful pictures honestly. I would highly recommended. It's light weight and easy to use, and I didn't even mention the zoom. If you are considering buying a Z1012, don't get this one. The extra money is worth it!

Great Entry-Level Camera
Prior to purchasing this unit, I did a fairly exhaustive internet search of user-reviews of entry-level digital cameras. Since this is my first digital camera, the most important factors for me were ease-of-use and overall user-friendliness. On both those counts, I can say the unit performs remarkably well. My wife, who is very much a non-techie, has had no trouble using the camera for taking pictures of her eBay merchandise. Clarity and resolution are very good. And the camera interfaces fairly seamlessly with the included Kodak software and Kodak Gallery. Battery life also seems remarkably good. It would have been nice, though, if Kodak had included even a simple cloth carrying case. The only reason I didn't give the camera five stars was because of the difficulty viewing subject matter outdoors with the LCD viewfinder, especially in bright sunlight. The glare makes it almost impossible to see your subject. In fairness, though, this seems to be a problem with LCD viewfinders in general, not just Kodak's. But overall, it's a great little camera.

Very disappointed with this camera
I'm not sure if I received a bad camera or not but about 1 month into using this camera, the flash didn't seem to be working properly. All of my photos were either very dark or overexposed even though I had it on Auto Flash mode and the flash appeared to be going off. I sent it in for repair once (it was under warranty but I had to pay the shipping charges). It was returned to me stating it was fixed but I still had the same problem. This was so frustrating as this was my only camera and I was missing key moments in my kids' lives. I sent it in again and this time they seemed to fix the flash problem but I spent far too much time talking to customer service about this. Even with the flash fixed, I still feel that pictures were blurry and not crisp. Also, it is impossible to take a picture outdoors in bright sunlight- you cannot see anything in the LCD screen (there is no viewfinder) so you have to guess if you are taking a good picture. I ended up getting a Canon Powershot A590IS and I am so much happier. I would not recommend this Kodak camera.

Not The Greatest.
I got this camera to take to China with me so I could remember everything I did and saw there. It worked fine the first 4 weeks, then on the 5th week the lens part wouldnt come out right or go back in at all. I was frustrated, especially since I was on a trip and couldnt have it fixed right away. I sent it back in when I got home and had it fixed. After that it worked fine, then started up with the lens thing AGAIN so I sent it back again asking if they could replace it ( I thought it was just a dud) and they did. This camera worked fine until a week ago when the screen started shaking crazily when I turned it on and now its completely blank and wont let me see the pictures I take. Although when this camera worked, it took great pics and was really clear, its just not one that I would recommend.

Great little camera! Ordering 2nd one today!
Love this camera. I have one that I bought about 6 mos. ago and I am getting ready to buy a 2nd one. My husband uses the 1st one all the time and he likes it because its compact. I like it cause I can carry it around in my purse and use it whenever I want. It takes awesome pictures....I haven't had but a few pictures that didn't turn out...but that was me taking a crappy picture. This will be my 4th Kodak camera. I don't know what people keep talking about the LCD screen being hard to see...In certain lighting conditions ALL camera lcd's are hard to see. I have Canon Rebel XSI and it's the same problem. If the light is really bright and/or really dim they are all hard to see at times. This doesn't bug me. Its just a known fact that this is problem. It really disturbs me that people give it a bad rap for just that problem. The bottom line...It takes really good pictures and its easy to use. Thats all that really matters to me...

This is a nice camera that I would have enjoyed except that it's not compatible with the Picasa software that I've been using for a few years. I don't want to have my photos on two separate editing/email sites. So nice camera, but doesn't play well with others.

Pretty good
We have been pleased with this camera so far, no problems and it seems to do everything we need it too. Definitly not a professional camera but it more than meets our needs.
It is a little slow on start up and takes its time between pictures but the features and ease of use make up for this. we especially like the video feature and how easy it is to switch between video and picture.

Wonderful simplicity
I have learned over time that when shopping for my father for tech, it is not enough for a product to simply be easy to use. Since we're talking about cameras here, if a device has say, easy steps to change flash settings, that is no good. The steps themselves are easy, yes, but it is the necessity of steps which faults it.
Thus, I may declare that the Kodak M1033 is wonderfully step free. Powering up the camera is a one button affair, no jog wheels to confuse. One button brings up the camera modes and the same one button confirms the selection. Plus, if you do bring up the menu, the camera helpfully hides all of the options that are not used by the active mode. When my father first opened the box on Christmas day, it was completey intuitive for him I use. I'm making a note here, huge success. (Of course, I did cheat a little by opeining the box the day before and changing all of the initial settings.)
The camera does still hold some surprises for power users as well however. Manual picture taking has some fine options and features to be found, including a large ISO range for a camera of this range, useful color options, and for once a surprisingly accurate auto-white balancer.
I do however knock the camera down one star for a few complaints I had as a power user. If you are shopping for yourself and consider yourself to be a casual user, then just consider this a five star review and move on.
The digital zoomis completely horiffic and will destroy a d picture it is used in, even at low levels. The menu has an option to permanantly turn the digital zoom off. Use it. Although the camera claims to shoot HD video, video in any resolution looks completely unwatchable. And finally there is no option to disable JPEG compression, or change the compression ammount, and as a result, there is a fair bit more artifacts and muddiness as the pixel level than I would care for.

Great Compact Camera
The M1033 is a compact camera that takes excellent photos.I especially like the 3" LCD screen and the layout of the controls. The included rechargable battery will save you money in the long run and can be charged with the included AC adapter or USB cable.I do have a few minor gripes though:the battery life is short, the buffer takes a long time on large MP shots and the joystick is touchy. The included Easyshare software is buggy so I use Google Picasa instead. When making DVD's I use DVDFlick(free) or Sonic MyDVD,either one will convert MPEG-4 as long as you have Quicktime installed. Having said that I have a few recommendations:turn off digital zoom,do not use an ISO setting higher than 800 in P mode,I recommend buying an extra battery(KLIC-7004),I also recommend using a high speed SD card because it takes faster shots and uploads to your PC faster.
Pros: Ergonomic Compact High quality photos and video Smart Capture Large screen 16:9 mode Supports SDHC cards up to 32GB
Cons: Buttons can be touchy Doesn't remember mode when powered off Battery life Easyshare software

I want to plug my Kodak camera into my TV so it can record video game footage. Does anyone know if this works? If anyone has done this before please assist me! I appreciate it!

Question : Can you play Kodak digital videos from a digital camera on anything else besides a computer?
I have a Kodak digital camera and have home movies that I took with it saved on my computer. They are erased off of the camera memory now. I also have them saved on a flash drive. I'm trying to find out if the videos or pictures can be viewed on something else like an ipod, from the flash drive, or if you can burn them to a DVD or something like that. Question : Can i somehow put filters on my tiny kodak digital camera??
I have a small kodak digital camera, it's just plain digital. It doesn't even have a "mm" sized lense. Just a regular digital camera. is there a way to adapt lenses to it? would they be effective if i had to rig up something? or would the become deffective because of the distance between the lens and the filter?
Answer:
what sort of filters do you want to add to it? in this age of digital photography the only useful filter would be a UV filter for protection, any other effects could be replicated in digital editing. If you do want effects without editing, you could get away with holding up a filter to the lens but, really, why? and yes, the further you hold from the lens, the more distortion you will get. but hey, try it. no harm can come...

Question : Has anyone used the new Kodak digital camera to take sports pics in a high school gym?
I have a camera but the pictures always come out blury. I was told I need a stableization in my camera like the new Kodak has. I want to make sure if I get that camera it will work fine. It is frustrating because I want to take good action shots of my son on the court and they come out blury. Any feedback?
Answer:
sorry you heard that.
a stabilizer takes away your hand shaking not an object moving.
the light in a gym seems bright.
but, it fools the camera.
if you write an email to me and tell me what kind of camera you have - I might be able to help you.
the best thing you can do without changing the camera settings - is to get as close as you can and use the flash.

Question : Free online digital camera software for transfering editing and sharing? I hate my Kodak software?
I have a kodak digital camera and use the software that came with it to transfer pics from my camera and to edit them. I also use their gallery to share photos without having to email them. Does anyone know of a free online site that will let me do all these things. I really don't like the kodak.
Answer:
Picasa is a great one. It will transfer the pictures from the camera, allow you to set up galleries, edit the pictures, and soon upload them to a web-based gallery. http://www.picasa.com

Question : I have a "dinosaur" (old, big) Kodak digital camera. How do I get it to install to my computer?
I called Kodak support and they no longer provide support for my model, the DX3500. However, the rep did tell me that it is compatible with Kodak's EasyShare software. I lost the software it came with in a move. Beyond that, I am clueless.
When I plug my USB into the computer, nothing happens, the Easyshare software that I downloaded does not automatically pop up. When I try and install the camera in "Control Panel" my model does not come up on the list, so it says to to use the software.
Is there something about being the administrator of the computer???
Any help you have would be great. I have 400+ pictures of my NB twins on my camera that I cannot download and need to get a new camera when I can afford one! So any tips you have are greatly appreciated since I'm stuck with this one in the meantime!
Thanks!

I can view them through Quicktime or on the internet (after uploaded), but windows media player doesnt work for them. They are in ".mov" format, and i dont know why i cant play them on windows. I also want to know why it wont let me upload them onto windows movie maker to edit and make a movie out of them. It says that ".mov" files are uploadable under WMM help, yet every time i try to upload them it says something along the lines of it not being compatable.
Does anybody know why this is? Is there a way i can change it or fix it? I've gone through windows help of all sorts and cant seem to come to a solution.
Serious answers only please.
Thankyou!!!

Question : How can I get a clearer picture on my Kodak digital camera?
I have a P850 Kodak digital camera and I can't get close up pictures ( of flowers, animals etc..) to be very clear. Any suggestions?
Answer:
well if you have the 24-140 lens than your minimum focusing distance is 2.0 - 20.4 inches in macro focusing range according the datasheet online i found for this camera.
if you are staying within those limits and have the lens or camera set to macro it should be in focus. if not try using a tripod to keep the camera steady alot of times its you moving and you don't realize it. if not staying within 2.0-20.4 inches of your subject and you need to get further or closer try close up filters wich any decent camera store should sell and carry. or try buying a macro lens which only does macro. lmk if these solutions don't help- i love helping solve camera problems like this.

Question : Kodak Digital camera, c653, got dampened in water is it repairable?
I got the kodak c653 digital camera which got dampened, can it be repaired if yes whom do i need to show? i stay at hyderabad, please suggest..
Answer:
Electronics and water don't go well together. If it works after drying out, great. If not, the water probably caused a short circuit which would make it doubtful that it can be repaired. However, I've seen electronics survive water damage, but the battery was ruined. You might get lucky and get by with only having to get a new battery.

Question : I have a Kodak Digital Camera and it got wet, how can I fix it myself?
I have a Kodak Easy Share Z740 Digital Camera that was sent to get repaired but the extendant warranty does not cover water/moisture getting into the camera. My dad is going to kill me when he finds out!! I'm in a hurry,Please help me.
Answer:
If you have to ask you don''t have the technical ability yourself. Look in your phone book and see if there is a local camera repair centre and pay for the repair yourself.
As this camera is a low end one it may not be worth the cost of repairing it. Maybe a replacement is in order.
Have you ever thought of being honest with your father? As a parent I know I would prefer the last option.
Good luck
