pros and cons

Yes, It's 10MP, very clear. But, I also experienced the problem of some buzz with the button. And, it seems that I need to learn to deal with the weak light.

why the picture comes with too much light or black in the low light spots

i bought this camera a month before. i don't get why the picture comes so dark in the low light places. sometimes it comes completely dark in those cases. i am tired of it because i can't take any decent picture in the clubs or at night. does anyone have any suggestion about it. i played with manual but nothing seems to work. please help me if someone know about it.

third times the charm??

I bought this camera while i was pregnant because i figured i would need a good one for when the baby came. I was really pleased with it and it did take really nice photos. The videos werent the best but i suppose you cant expect perfect videos from a cheap camera. When the baby came i had someone running around the delivery room snapping pictures. Every other picture was blurry. I dont know if it was the operator or just the camera. I did notice that you had to wait a long time and have the perfect light for the camera to take really good pics. After having the camera for about 2 or 3 months i had an accident involving dirty baby clothes a misplaced camera and a washing machine...needles to say the camera didnt make it out alive. I decided to go ahead and buy the same camera agian. I was still pleased with it but a little bummed i couldnt find the 10mp for as cheap so instead i had to settle for the 8.2. Anyways im an avid review reader and i had read a couple that said the camera straight up quit working after 6 months. I decided to ignore them because most of the other comments were totally positive. I had my second camera for about 5 months and it died...on its own...no washing machine involved. It was like the Auto Focus just completely quit working for some reason. (really bad timing too because i was at the hospital with my friend while she was having HER baby when i found out it quit working.) Anyway i liked the camera but cant decide if i want to try it out a third time and risk the chance of getting burned.

Rating :

a bit hit and miss, really.

I did a bit of research on this camera before making the decision to buy it. Apparently I just didn't do enough.

At 10mp, the quality is disappointing. I've had cameras that were perhaps 4mp and yet they still took sharper, clearer photos. As much as I play with the settings, and no matter how steady the photo is or how careful I am in paying attention to the lighting, I still find it falling behind my first Kodak from 1998. This is not a good thing, in the least.

It is also very fragile! I had to send in my first one for a broken lens when it slipped out of my hand and hit the table, even though I had the wrist strap on and the fall was perhaps a few inches.

On the bright side, it is extremely easy to navigate, and focuses very well, even if the quality isn't as wonderful as I had been hoping. All in all, it is a fairly good camera for its price, and beats out most other digitals in its price range. However, I think I'll do a bit more review reading the next time I buy a camera -- and probably go crawling back to Nikon for the quality/durability combo I desire.

unreliable

I bought one of these C533's to take to Africa 3 years ago. During my stay it stopped functioning and I couldn't get it replaced until I got back and then had to wait nearly a month for the replacement. Fortunately I was able to save the photos, its the camera's ability to focus and read an image that is unstable. Last week I was visiting my son in San Francisco and we went to a Giants/Dodgers game and darn if the same thing didn't happen again. I am not abusive to my technology, I try to keep it clean and safe from bumps and moisture.

I would not recommend this product. It is easy to use until it unpredictably won't work. There is an Australian joke that goes
Q: What do you call a boomerang that won't come back?
A: A stick

I just bought a Canon A470 for $110 that will do everything the C533 will do for significantly less. hopefully it is more reliable

Died immediately after warranty expiration...of course

The camera came with a poor excuse for a rechargeable battery pack. A full charge would handle shooting no more than a dozen to maybe a dozen and a half pictures. It didn't take me long to start using Duracells.

Shortly after I'd had the camera a year, and of course shortly after it went out of warranty, it quit working. It soured me enough that it will NOT be replaced a Kodak anything.

kodak still in the dark ages

Well, others have had their say, so let me just add this. How can anyone in the 21st century make a camera that can't be used as though it were a usb disk drive. My first kodak digital camera was this dumb, but now, 10 years later I see these fools still don't understand how the rest of the world works. I don't want to have to install their stupid software, what if I'm not at home and want to load my pics on another machine. I guess I have to carry around an sd card reader.

Also, 1.45 volt alkaline batteries wouldn't even turn this puppy on. I had to use brand new 1.55 volt batteries. I'm thinking of returning this if I can since, naturally none of my 1.25-1.35 volt nimh rechargeables would work either.

Just to be sure, I put the 1.45 batteries into a standard 2 D cell flashlight (by using AA to D adapter shells) and it's as bright as anything brand new. And if you know flashlights you know the brightness is a very good measure of how much voltage the batteries can put out when in a circuit - even better than using a meter, unless you put a load on or use a special battery circuit with a load. So, if batteries this good won't even budge this camera, then forgetaboutit!

After trying many batteries, it is possible that this is just my camera, but other's seem to have had the same problems. So, I can't say if this is an un-feature of this camera, or if mine is just overly sensitive to the input voltage.

Oh, one more issue. They keep mentioning an a/v out, but there really isn't one. They imply you can hook directly to a tv, but you can't. All there is is a usb port, so you'd still have to install their software, and use that to transfer the files (instead of simply drag/drop) and then if you have a tv that can hook up to a computer, then you could show the pictures or videos on the tv. They act like you can just hook up a pair of a/v cables to the camera and the tv. I'd have to say someone screwed da pooch here. I don't think they are referring to the docking station connector either, as that is not where they point and say a/v out in the manual. The manual also says that it outputs either ntsc or pal. Either way, I can't find out how and they don't show any pictures of any a/v outputs.

I bought this here for a low price of under $60 and even then I wouldn't buy it had I known better.

Great Camera

This is a great camera. Had it for 3 years now. Always got great photo's and video. Very easy to use. The colors are very vivid on this camera. We are about to upgrade to a higher MP. I wish I could get the exact same camera only with more MP's. This camera will be passed down to my 5 year old. He can even get great photo's with this camera. Use with a Lithium battery and you'll be golden.

Good Camera but....... 4gb sd card does not work

This is my first camera, bought it on Black Friday of 2003 for $299 (included a free 128mb card)
I've taken over 6000 pictures with this cam, a majority of them are good. However, nighttime pictures do not come out very well.

Since then, I've bought a 256mb card, upgraded to a 1gb.. Yesterday bought a 4gb Transcend card and it did not work :(
Checked the Kodak site, found no firmware upgrade available, stuck with firmware v1.000

I've hated this camera for 4 years ...

I just bought a new camera today, and while linking this page to show the old one to some internet friends, I figured I might as well review it ...

Man, I am SO glad to be rid of this thing. I mean, sure, it takes satisfactory pictures, I love the docking station, and it's lasted this long (and is still in decent shape), so I guess my dislikes are just a matter of being picky. Anyway, I hate the d-pad control on this model. I thought I hated d-pads in general, but I have realized that it's THIS d-pad that I hate. It really sucks. And it's about shot after 4 years of use. I hate that it has a lens cap instead of the lens that automatically shutters itself. I hate that it's so bulky. It has terrible hand-feel, it's difficult not to stick your fingers into the shot. I hate how long it takes between the time you push the button and the time it actually takes the picture. I hate that you can't do any editing through the camera (I had a sony previously, and you can crop, take pics in sepia, black and white, etc, you can brighten, etc, etc, right ON THE CAMERA). And I hate that the editing software sucks so bad (am fully aware I could use something else, and I readily admit that I do not know how). I hate that it takes TERRIBLE close-ups even in close-up mode (I know you love the highly technical terms I use). I hate that my mother-in-law's cat knocked my sony off the top of her entertainment unit 4 years ago, and THIS is what she replaced it with as my xmas present.

I just really hate this camera.

It works though. I guess that's something ...

Great at first - printer has issues

I bought this for my Mom as a gift after having a similar set of my own. After a year of use, both of us had issues with the printer....constantly says it's out of ink...when it has only printed a few pictures. We keep using it, but it's a pain to deal with. I gave up on the printer and purchased another. After I decided I loved the Selphy printer, I bought one for my Mom also. She loves it...much easier to use. For her, she doesn't have a pc, so using the printer with the screen on it to select, crop, etc the pictures is far better for her. This was a good set at the beginning, but doesn't really hold up well. She is still using her camera, just using the new printer with it.

Great Little Own the Go Camera

I've been using this camera for a about 2 months now and over all its a pretty nice digital camera. Only real complaint I have is finding another USB locally. For the life of me I cant find mine and the port is so little that none of my other millions of adaptors will work. Overall a nice around time, quick snap shots of the kids camera.

Rating :

Great little camera

This is the best digital camera I have owned so far. It is fairly easy to use, although I'm still learning how all the different functions work. Takes great pictures and I love how you can zoom in while reviewing your pics. The only drawback is the internal memory only holds about 15 pics so you need to upload often or buy a memory card. I'm lucky mine came with one. Most of my friends thought I paid over $100 for this camera and were amazed at what I spent. Great camera, great price.

Rating :

Decent camera, but what's up with the price??

Why is Amazon selling a camera for $198.89 when Kodak's MSRP is US $139.00? According to the specs, this camera does not include the printer dock, so it's not the combo price.

Rating :

Terrible product, batteries don't charge properly, would give negative stars if I could

This product works very poorly, especially if you are attempting to use rechargeable batteries. I'd say 80% of the time when I try to recharge it, it is unsuccessful and I have to totally discharge and recharge the batteries -- which takes more than 8 hours. And sometimes even the total discharge-recharge cycle does not work.
The quality of the pictures is not great either -- using the zoom lens to the slightest degree will result in blurry pictures.
In addition, Kodak's customer service/support is just terrible. Just before I special occasion I ordered new batteries and paid extra for rapid shipping. Turns out the batteries were backordered, so they weren't shipped until after the occasion. But by the time they told me about this, they said it was too late to cancel the order. So I ended up spending an extra $15 for two-day shipping for a product I didn't get for two weeks. I tried to contact them to complain, and they sent an automatically generated email saying they'd get back to me in 8 hours. Well, it has been more than 8 weeks, and I've sent multiple other emails, and have yet to get a response.

Questions & Answers
Question : How can I get a clearer picture on my Kodak digital camera?
I have a P850 Kodak digital camera and I can't get close up pictures ( of flowers, animals etc..) to be very clear. Any suggestions?

Answer:
well if you have the 24-140 lens than your minimum focusing distance is 2.0 - 20.4 inches in macro focusing range according the datasheet online i found for this camera. if you are staying within those limits and have the lens or camera set to macro it should be in focus. if not try using a tripod to keep the camera steady alot of times its you moving and you don't realize it. if not staying within 2.0-20.4 inches of your subject and you need to get further or closer try close up filters wich any decent camera store should sell and carry. or try buying a macro lens which only does macro. lmk if these solutions don't help- i love helping solve camera problems like this.

Question : Can i somehow put filters on my tiny kodak digital camera??
I have a small kodak digital camera, it's just plain digital. It doesn't even have a "mm" sized lense. Just a regular digital camera. is there a way to adapt lenses to it? would they be effective if i had to rig up something? or would the become deffective because of the distance between the lens and the filter?

Answer:
what sort of filters do you want to add to it? in this age of digital photography the only useful filter would be a UV filter for protection, any other effects could be replicated in digital editing. If you do want effects without editing, you could get away with holding up a filter to the lens but, really, why? and yes, the further you hold from the lens, the more distortion you will get. but hey, try it. no harm can come...

Question : Question about Kodak digital camera and windows movie maker?
I have a Kodak digital "easy share" camera. It records video and i've put a couple video files from my camera directly on my computer. I can view them through Quicktime or on the internet (after uploaded), but windows media player doesnt work for them. They are in ".mov" format, and i dont know why i cant play them on windows. I also want to know why it wont let me upload them onto windows movie maker to edit and make a movie out of them. It says that ".mov" files are uploadable under WMM help, yet every time i try to upload them it says something along the lines of it not being compatable. Does anybody know why this is? Is there a way i can change it or fix it? I've gone through windows help of all sorts and cant seem to come to a solution. Serious answers only please. Thankyou!!!

Answer:
Look here.

Question : I have a Kodak Digital Camera and it got wet, how can I fix it myself?
I have a Kodak Easy Share Z740 Digital Camera that was sent to get repaired but the extendant warranty does not cover water/moisture getting into the camera. My dad is going to kill me when he finds out!! I'm in a hurry,Please help me.

Answer:
If you have to ask you don''t have the technical ability yourself. Look in your phone book and see if there is a local camera repair centre and pay for the repair yourself. As this camera is a low end one it may not be worth the cost of repairing it. Maybe a replacement is in order. Have you ever thought of being honest with your father? As a parent I know I would prefer the last option. Good luck

Question : Can a Kodak digital camera record footage from a TV?
I want to plug my Kodak camera into my TV so it can record video game footage. Does anyone know if this works? If anyone has done this before please assist me! I appreciate it!

Answer:
It might. You might have better results if you just buy a video capture card for your computer. It will be a lot cheaper too.
