Canon is still best !!!
I purchase this camera almost a year ago. I think it's a good compromise between price and features.
Pros -- 1> Price. Much cheaper than other cameras and has good features. 2> Size. Compact, can be easily carried in pocket without hassle. Almost size of cell phone. 3> Point & Shoot. Good photos with Auto mode.
Cons -- 1> Battery. After a year, now the camera dies before end of day. Since it has rechargeable battery, you are stuck with dead camera for your evening s. 2> Software. If you don't have memory card reader, then you must install Kodak software. This means, after every reboot, it will check for updated version. If you have card reader, you can download pics right from the card. 3> Video. Every time you are trying to capture video, if the camera has to focus, the noise of lens shifting is recorded too. It's audible when played back. 4> Selected mode is lost when power turned off. Suppose if you select 'Night Portrait' mode and after taking couple of pics, you turned off camera, next time when you switch back on, it's back to 'Auto' mode. You need to switch back to 'Night Portrait' again. 5> Flash. Just not powerful enough. It's good for 4-5 feet range but if you are taking pictures in a large room, pictures come dark due to inadequate flash. Same time pictures taken by Canon G5 came perfect.
(DC charger which plugs in charger station can be plugged directly into camera for charging.)
I purchased this camera to replace my Canon G4. I was pleased initially at it's size but soon started missing Canon's powerful flash, swivel screen, picture/video quality etc.

A good first camera
I received this camera as a high school graduation present from my parents three years ago. This was my first digital camera and think that it's a great first camera to own and to play around with. I love the black color making it look sophisticated and also how small it is. It fits perfect in most camera carrying cases. Though it is only 5.0 Mega Pixels (I realize that cameras go up to a lot higher number now) the quality of the picture on the screen was always satisfying to me. I love all the options you have to change what kind of setting you are in including making the picture black and white or sepia. It even has a setting on there for fireworks and moving objects.
One of the main issues I had with the camera that I would have change is the size of the viewing screen and what it is made out of. I just would have liked to see the screen a little bit bigger. Some cameras now have the screen covering the entire back of it and I would like to see this screen bigger. Also, whatever the screen is made of attracts fingerprints like crazy. Every time I would try to wipe off the screen, I just smeared the fingerprints instead of really getting rid of them. I would have liked to see the screen more of a shiny substance easier for wiping off or including some kind of cloth that will take off all the smudges. I recently had to buy a new camera because this one just bit the dust after 3 years. Suddenly the camera just stopped working and I was unable to turn it on or off. The shutter wouldn't come out. Or, if it did, I would have to wait until the camera battery died for it to go back in. Also, all of the screws except one that hold the front cover on fell out.
Overall, I would recommend this camera as a solid first digital camera to give a young person to capture the last of their teen years. It was a valued asset to me.

I love this camera!
I've had this camera for years now, it's never broken, i've never treated it well or stored it in a case, and it's held up great. it feels really solid and heavy in its construction.
the pictures are great, the video is great (for the price anyway, i've never had a super pricey camera). i'm very happy with this camera still after all these years...

Good Camera For Beginners
I bought the Kodak V530 to replace my AMAZING Pentax Optio, which I dropped (jamming the lens and rendering it useless). Unfortunately, I was on my honeymoon in Hawaii and paid almost $400 for this camera (about three years ago). The Kodak wouldn't have been my first choice, but it was the most comparable to the camera I had--so I thought.
I'm a nerdy picture person; I use my camera every day. I like to be able to stick it in my pocket and be ready for anything. Yes, the V530 is very small, it has a big screen and it's easy to use. For someone who is already camera savy, this isn't the product for you. The shutter recovery speed is incredibly slow, so you can't catch really good frame-after-frame action shots. The optical zoom says 3X, but I have my doubts about that--it sucks. There's no stabilization control, so if you're moving, you tend to get a fuzzy picture. However, if you want a camera for a beginner--maybe a grandparent--this is a good choice. It's fine for every-day pictures and, like I said, really easy to use.
My best advice: wear your wrist strap. I really regret losing my Optio and still haven't found a comparably priced camera to match it.

Doesn't like cold weather!
I bought this, my first digital camera, to document the building of my new house. It worked reasonably well at first, but when winter closed in and the builders were still hard at work, my camera wasn't. Every time I turned it on it immediately turned off again. For a while after that it still worked okay indoors, but eventually I had the problem regardless of the temperature. Occasionally if I kept turning it on I won the battle and it would stay on and take a reasonably good picture, but the next time I wanted to use it I would have to go through the same hassle. I have seen good reviews of other Kodak products, but I won't buy another. I've just replaced the camera with a Nikon S700 and the difference, both in quality of the pictures and in ease of use (make that possibility of use) is incredible.

Battery consumer
The 7530 works fine. Like some other reviewers, battery life is very short. I've tried rechargeable NI-MH cells rated 2200 mAh each. These did not last more than a day or two. The camera seems to drain them even when not in use. This happened with AA Lithium cells also. These fresh cells lasted 2 or 3 days and were then dead. This camera has been around and has many reviews. This seems a common problem. I wonder if it is common to all digital cameras? Aside from this the camera is easy to use. It does take a very good picture. When I use the camera I turn off the image display, and there are no "dirty" contacts. I can not get over how it goes through batteries. It is bad enough to make me miss my old SLR film camera. I wanted rechargable lithiums but they are limited and may not be much better. Oh well.

Pretty Good Camera
This camera does work pretty good. I had a 1GB sd card and it held tons of pictures. The pictures turn out good and the camera has a good flash. The only problem I've had is that the batteries don't last very long. It seemed to do fine for about a year but about 6 months ago I noticed I would put new batteries in and they would be dead by the end of the day sometimes even sooner. The instructions say that if you use the LCD when your taking the pictures instead of the viewfinder it uses up more of the battery but I don't use the LCD so I don't think it's that. If no one else has had this problem then it may just be my camera but in my opinion it's a lot cheaper and easier to just have a rechargeable camera then to be buying numerous batteries. Or just buy your own rechargeable batteries. Other then that, I've had no other problems. It's a great, easy-to-use, beginners camera.
Rating :
Low price for a reason
If you have a limited budget this is a good camera, the batteries run out fast and if you don't mind pressing the shutter button and the picture finally snaps which seems like 2 seconds later-this is for you. I thought this lag time wouldn't be a big deal until I used it, it became a huge annoyance and a big drawback for enjoying using this camera.

I've taken some great pictures with this camera!
I'm a thunderstorm enthusiast, so I've been using this to take photos of clouds and video of lightning storms. While it's definitely not professional quality, it's great for a hobbyist.
Don't bother with the digital zoom, though, honestly. It makes pictures far too grainy.

Video and Digital
I love this camera sooo much. I have never taken as many pictures as I do now. I have had this camera for over a year now and still find it a pleasure to use. This camera is sleek, very user friendly and allows me to capture video and digital moments for long lasting memories. I love it!

Poor Design and Even Poorer Customer Service
LOVED this camera until it broke one year later. I mean it completely broke. It's dead. The battery power died during a photo shoot and killed the camera. Now it won't even turn on. See my post in the forum on this page for more info. The short of it all is, do NOT buy Kodak. My GF has a Canon Elph and it's far more amazing than anything Kodak makes. Plus if you ever have to deal with Kodak's customer service...well, let's hope you never have to.

good for outdoor shots
This is a great little camera if you do a lot of outdoor photo shoots of still objects. I have 3 small children, and it doesn't work too well for my photo needs. I take lots of indoor pictures which most of the time turn out pretty dark unless I have it super bright in my house, but that isn't very often. I tried to take pictures at my son's kindergarten graduation in his classroom, but it was too dark to get even one shot. I had to get video of him to be able to see him at all. Not so great for kids in motion either, they are blurry.
Video option is great though. I guess I use this option most on my camera. I have had this one about a year, and I am going for a canon with IS (image stabalization) now. I will retire this camera to my husband.

Lens Brakes easily
this camera worked well, until the lens stopped working one day. now it just makes a grinding noise. from looking online, this is a common problem. the outside is metal, but the gears inside are just soft plastic.
Rating :
Easy to use and easy to carry
This camera is awesome. I love the fact that now I can carry my camera with me everyday and not have to lug an extra carrying case. The pictures are sharp and clear and it it easy to use. I do suggest using the wrist strap as my husband had a hard time with the "smallness" of the camera. I did not find it hard to use or handle. The picture on the LCD is clear and easy to see in all lighting conditions.

The Schneider lens of this fine quality Kodak Easyshare Digital Camera 7590 has a 10x zoom that has a 35 mm equivalent of 38-380 mm focal length. That exceeds most SLR lenses but this camera is relatively compact when you consider its amazing optical performance. Included 3x digital zoom brings you much closer. With up to 5 effective megapixel imaging, you can achieve a 2576 x 1932 high resolution for still pictures. It also does movies too, up to 640x480 VGA resolution - higher than many camcorders deliver - with sound. There's a built-in automatic, multimode electronic-flash. Programmable autoexposure and auto focus modes make operating this camera truly Kodak easy. Exclusive KODAK Color Science Image Processing Chip optimizes image quality to the max. The 7590 works with optional KODAK EASYSHARE Printer Dock Series 3. This camera can easily transfer images with both Windows PC and Macintosh computers and is PictBridge compatible to make prints without a computer. Great camera
I use this camera in my work. We bought it for newsletter photos, etc. I like it so much better than my personal camera that I've been allowed to use it for personal times and I've had really good luck with it. I just discovered the sports button on the dial and it's been great! I got my son's baseball hit in action! very cool! I now want to buy my own! I'm totally an ameatur and this camera makes me look pretty good!!

Great Camera!
I love the fact that you can go in and change the settings and that makes for control over taking great pictures! This is my first real digital camera and I'm using it for a class in the Spring. Though it doesn't take that good of night pictures, it more than makes up for it in the way it takes low light pictures! Great Job and props to the people at Kodak for creating a great design on a camera!!!

Only if you need the features
10x Optical Zoom - Yes PC Flash Socket - Yes
Those are the only reasons I bought this camera. To get those features in a better camera would cost quite a bit more $$$. I downgraded from an Olympus SP-320.
The image quality from the Olympus was much better. Better detail in shadows, better color saturation. But it didn't support the remote flash or have the optical zoom range this Kodak had. The flash especially was a feature I needed.
If you don't need the PC socket, look elsewhere. If you do, you can't beat the price.

Broke after the warranty period
I brough the z7590 camera in July 05 and at that time it was one of the best in terms of features and price. I used it quite a bit - the usual stuff - family parties, camping or long trips on car. Outdoor shooting was pretty good - especially if the lighting is good the camera gave pretty good pictures. Indoor and low light performance is below average (even shooting in best quality mode). On outdoors I should mention the long zoom performance was poor. For example when I shot the golden gate bridge (from the nearest view point) on a bright sunny day the camera only gave a pale red color to the bridge :(
After 1.5 yrs the flash is now not working. What puts me off badly are the options for repair - a quote of 150$ for repair, a minimum charge of 50$ for the Kodak folks to just take a look at it, or a silly trade in program where you get like 10-15$ discount on refurbished models.
Overall average performance, poor customer service and the fact that the flash broke after a year, I am not going to buy a Kodak again.

A great little start-up camera
The Kodak Easyshare Z7590 is the third we have purchased for the newsroom of a small daily newspaper. It is small enough to go anywhere with you yet has a "heft" that makes you feel you are holding an actual camera rather than a plastic toy. All three cameras have been extremely reliable, holding up under daily use by a number of different photographers, some gentle and others not-so-gentle. With a 10x zoom it is capable of going out and getting that distant shot. Has acceptable speed for most sporting events and at 5 mp produces an image with enough resolution for all our needs. Flawlessly connects to all our computers (Mac with OS 10.2). Battery life is always a factor, and the Easyshare battery life is great! This is a perfect first camera for the amateur, casual photographer or anyone who does not absolutely have to produce a poster-size plus image.

Having Trouble
I bought this camera - Kodak EasyShare V803 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Mystic Purple) for my neice as a birthday present. The good part is it worked on her birthday. The bad news is that it hasn't worked since. Her mother has been trying to contact the supplier to return it for over three weeks. They've been closed for the holiday(?). So, I'm not happy with this purchase at all and will not buy any other electronic items from Amazon or their vendors. I will have Amex involved in this by this coming Monday, if the problem is not resolved. Amazon's good for books and anything without moving parts and that's about it.

Good for its purpose...
The thing about this camera is that its a point-and-shoot. Its super easy to use, but no matter what you're doing, its extremely difficult to capture a picture that looks completely clear when it is blown up to the size its supposed to blow up to. The zoom goes up to 3.0, but is only clear to about 1.5, and the machine makes the 1.5x and more zoom seem lousy on the interface. I used this camera for a trip and got some good pictures, but was disappointed to see that many of the pictures didn't appear clearly full size. Its definitely a good camera with over 15 picture modes, but it hasn't won me over because its lack of image stabilization.

Great Camera!!
This camera is my first digital camera and it takes fantastic pictures. My family and I went to Ripley's Believe it or not in St. Augustine and the photos came out great.. outside and inside. Outside I used the general (auto) setting and inside I used the museum setting. All the pictures came out amazing.

Expensive Disposable - below average pictures.
When the camera was first released, many customers experienced a problem in which the camera would freeze periodically and the only way to regain control would be to remove the battery and power cycle. Another more recent problem consumers are experiencing now is cracking the fragile LCD screen on this device. It's roughly as durable as an eggshell. Once the LCD is broken you cannot use this camera. Don't be tempted to buy a used one without the LCD... it's useless. Lastly, when the camera is working properly, it does not perform nearly as well as other cameras in its 2007 class - there are many cameras that produce better pictures at lower retail prices. When I presented a working version of this camera to many friends and family I COULD NOT TRADE OR EVEN GIVE IT AWAY for FREE. My friends and relatives liked their Fujitsu, Nikon or Canon ALOT better. Don't give into the temptation to pick up this inexpensive 8MP camera; you WILL be dissapointed.

Questions & Answers
Question : How can I get a clearer picture on my Kodak digital camera?
I have a P850 Kodak digital camera and I can't get close up pictures ( of flowers, animals etc..) to be very clear. Any suggestions?
Answer:
well if you have the 24-140 lens than your minimum focusing distance is 2.0 - 20.4 inches in macro focusing range according the datasheet online i found for this camera.
if you are staying within those limits and have the lens or camera set to macro it should be in focus. if not try using a tripod to keep the camera steady alot of times its you moving and you don't realize it. if not staying within 2.0-20.4 inches of your subject and you need to get further or closer try close up filters wich any decent camera store should sell and carry. or try buying a macro lens which only does macro. lmk if these solutions don't help- i love helping solve camera problems like this.

Question : I have a "dinosaur" (old, big) Kodak digital camera. How do I get it to install to my computer?
I called Kodak support and they no longer provide support for my model, the DX3500. However, the rep did tell me that it is compatible with Kodak's EasyShare software. I lost the software it came with in a move. Beyond that, I am clueless.
When I plug my USB into the computer, nothing happens, the Easyshare software that I downloaded does not automatically pop up. When I try and install the camera in "Control Panel" my model does not come up on the list, so it says to to use the software.
Is there something about being the administrator of the computer???
Any help you have would be great. I have 400+ pictures of my NB twins on my camera that I cannot download and need to get a new camera when I can afford one! So any tips you have are greatly appreciated since I'm stuck with this one in the meantime!
Thanks!

Question : Can a Kodak digital camera record footage from a TV?
I want to plug my Kodak camera into my TV so it can record video game footage. Does anyone know if this works? If anyone has done this before please assist me! I appreciate it!

It might. You might have better results if you just buy a video capture card for your computer. It will be a lot cheaper too.

Question : Question about Kodak digital camera and windows movie maker?
I have a Kodak digital "easy share" camera. It records video and i've put a couple video files from my camera directly on my computer. I can view them through Quicktime or on the internet (after uploaded), but windows media player doesnt work for them. They are in ".mov" format, and i dont know why i cant play them on windows. I also want to know why it wont let me upload them onto windows movie maker to edit and make a movie out of them. It says that ".mov" files are uploadable under WMM help, yet every time i try to upload them it says something along the lines of it not being compatable.
Does anybody know why this is? Is there a way i can change it or fix it? I've gone through windows help of all sorts and cant seem to come to a solution.
Serious answers only please.
Thankyou!!!

Question : I have a Kodak Digital Camera and it got wet, how can I fix it myself?
I have a Kodak Easy Share Z740 Digital Camera that was sent to get repaired but the extendant warranty does not cover water/moisture getting into the camera. My dad is going to kill me when he finds out!! I'm in a hurry,Please help me.
Answer:
If you have to ask you don''t have the technical ability yourself. Look in your phone book and see if there is a local camera repair centre and pay for the repair yourself.
As this camera is a low end one it may not be worth the cost of repairing it. Maybe a replacement is in order.
Have you ever thought of being honest with your father? As a parent I know I would prefer the last option.
Good luck

i have windows movie maker but the video files are not compatible with the moviemaker program. any idea on how you convert them so they are usable??

Question : Can i somehow put filters on my tiny kodak digital camera??
I have a small kodak digital camera, it's just plain digital. It doesn't even have a "mm" sized lense. Just a regular digital camera. is there a way to adapt lenses to it? would they be effective if i had to rig up something? or would the become deffective because of the distance between the lens and the filter?
Answer:
what sort of filters do you want to add to it? in this age of digital photography the only useful filter would be a UV filter for protection, any other effects could be replicated in digital editing. If you do want effects without editing, you could get away with holding up a filter to the lens but, really, why? and yes, the further you hold from the lens, the more distortion you will get. but hey, try it. no harm can come...
