GREAT EVERYDAY CAMERA
I have had this camera for about 2 years but I'm about to sell it to my dad. It truly is a great camera for everyday use and special events within families. However I needed even higher resolution and a camera with room for more expansion since I'm pursuing photography as a career. This camera is amazingly easy to use. There's nothing tricky about it. It takes wonderful photos and I particularly like the sport mode. One negative I found is the shutter lag is rather slow though. Having an active 2 year old whos constantly on the go, some great photos were never caught because by the time the camera actually took the picture the moment was gone or the smile had disappeared. ButI must say that most camera's of this type within similar price range all have about the same shutter lag typically. Nonetheless, It is an excellent everyday digital camera assuming you're not an avid photographer. Hope this helped.

This easyshare is what it says. Easy. 10x lens is also great if you need close up's.

Too big, not enough quality
I got this unit for the extended zoom capabilities. Not impressed at all and I returned it. Too big, bulky, not enough quality in extended zoom.

Great Camera
I've had this camera for a little over a year. After owning 2 HP cameras that broke on me shortly after purchasing them, I stayed away from HP and went to Kodak, which I was told was easiest to use. I loved this camera because of the 10x optical zoom. I produce very good quality photos with this camera! It's a little too big to carry on a night out so I bought another Kodak that fits in the purse. I think I'll be a loyal Kodak camera owner from here on and this is a really good deal for the money.

About 9 months ago a Kodak Z710 was purchased for me by my superior to record the various landscape features. It is about half the size and weight of my film camera. With 1 GB memory card I am able to take many good pictures and review them on the computer screen.
In April, 2008 I decided to buy a digital camera (Z650) for myself through Amazon. Because I was familiar with the Z710, it was an easy choice to purchase another Kodak. I checked Steve Digicams website and found that the Z650 was a good camera.
Ordering from Amazon was easy and Amazon kept me informed as to the delivery progress of my order. The camera arrived on time and the bill was exactly as stated earlier.

| Editorial Review :
We have to tell you, wide-angle capabilities in a point-and-shoot digital camera are a revelation. Does this camera have that and more? Sure does. Dual lenses, so that it goes from a wide 23mm equivalent to a 117mm equivalent (6x zoom) without a protruding lens? Check. A large, beautiful LCD? Sure thing. An in-camera panoramic stitch that makes the most of both those features? Oh, yes. | The V570's wide-angle lens creates interesting effects. (See larger image.) | The V570 is also incredibly compact. We carried it in a front pant pocket while traipsing around London, in a jacket pocket on the ski slopes, and in a cargo-pant pocket on mountain climbs. The V570 is very portable, and it's so inconspicuous in its small size that we felt secure with it in a front pant pocket while strap-hanging on Mexico City public transportation. And then there are the pictures. We love that the wide-angle setting allows us to fit so much into the picture. It also creates some interesting stretching effects in close-ups, as with the photo of cakes at left. In addition, color reproduction is stunning: blue skies are faithfully rendered, bright colors remain bright even in low-light settings or flash photos, and contrast and tonal range are almost always as perfect as we could hope. | | | Panoramic mode is easy to use and works beautifully. (Click images for larger views.) | The in-camera panoramic stitch mode is also extremely easy, and it produces exquisite results. The only down side to this feature is that it severely limits your other photographic options--the two or three images that make up the panoramas are taken at 3.2-megapixel resolution, and the flash won't fire while you're in panoramic mode. However, we found the resolution to be sufficient in the end, and reserving panoramic use for well-lit scenarios did not prove such a hardship. (Make sure to check out other customers' photos, taken in a range of lighting situations, via the link above.) | Some of our favorite photos taken with the V570. (Click images for larger views.) | | | Finally, the camera's video function performs admirably. A friend used his V570 to film a football team taking the field, and both image and sound were top notch. And the large, bright 2.5-inch LCD does its duty well as a photo and video viewer. Separate buttons allow you to zoom in on sections of a photo and navigate within one picture or all the pictures on your card. (Photos can also be viewed in a multi-up mode, which displays nine at a time, or in a slideshow that can be shown on the screen or on your television.) This is not to say that the camera doesn't have a few imperfections. It must be docked for charging the battery or downloading images. In photos, bright lights are occasionally surrounded by a purple fringe. The power and scene mode buttons are on the small side, and there's no way to prevent the camera from displaying just-taken images for five seconds after the shot (though you can take another photo immediately by pressing the shutter-release button twice). These are small gripes about an otherwise stellar camera, though. We've found the V570 to be the best combination of unique features, impressive styling, and overall user-friendliness of any cameras currently available, and we cannot recommend it enough.--Sarah Sternau Pros
- Wide-angle lens produces beautiful photos
- Color reproduction is amazing
- In-camera panoramic stitch works wonderfully
Cons- 5-second post-capture review can't be turned off
- Occasional purple fringe
- Limited settings options in panoramic mode

Great little camera
Read the other reviews to get a sense of this camera's features. I agree with all the positive comments and don't understand the battery issue. I have mine set to turn off after about 20 seconds of unuse. No problem, because there is no wait when you turn it back on. I have had mine for two years now and wanted a little light weight camera for vacation pictures. I was completely suprised by the ease of use and the quality of the pictures. I pretty much use the automatic function and occasionally the closeup setting. Just got back from a trip to Costa Rica and many in our group have posed our pictures on Snapfish. I keep getting emails asking me what kind of camera I used as my pic's stand up side by side with others taken with much more expensive digital camera setups. Oh, by the way the in camera post processing feature is the best. Too bad they have discontinued this model.

Reviews skewed?
This is my first review of anything, but I'm quite frustrated and had to write it since I just tried to take some pictures with it. I've had the camera for a year and half.
First off the positives. The wide angle capability is very nice. Taking group shots close up is amazing. The video mode is pretty nice also. Being able to zoom while taping is very nice.
Now the negatives. For some reason, when you don't take a picture in wide angle, the camera has a tough time focusing if there is not a lot of light. The pictures come out crap if you don't have good lighting, and the flash doesn't do much to help. It's hard to take good pictures with this camera if you aren't in wide angle. Note, I do have the digital zoom off. For some reason, when in wide angle even with low light, the camera is not bad taking pictures. I've taken some amazing video with this, but when playing back on the computer, you cannot fast forward or skip certain sections, the software will make you start all over from the start. The EasyShare software is very sluggish when you load up and also downloading lots of pictures and especially video. Sometimes you think it locks up, but it just takes a long time if you have more than a few pictures. I have used it on two pretty decent computers, so pretty sure it's not on my end.
I love the wide angle abilities, but this camera and software is just not good. There are more wide angle pocket sized cameras available now. Just for reference, I have the original Canon Elph SD100 and a Sony DSC-H1. I'm moving on from this camera. I'm a little surprised how well this camera has been rated so far. I know most people aren't shopping for this camera since this one's a little older now.

Love This Camera
All I can say is I realy enjoyed this camera. It does everything and it is simple to use, easy to store, and the picture comes out great.

Amazing Camera.
I looooooved this camera. I previously owned the V570 and when it died i was thrilled to get this one. I used it excessively for exactly a year, come to think of it. It's very easy to use, the features are easily accessible, and the pictures are fantastic. I'm a huuuge fan of the ultra-wide-angle lens and now that the time has come for me to get a new camera I'm extremely disappointed that kodak discontinued the line. Buy this camera, it's worth it. (Don't pay the 450 new though, it wasn't even that much new directly from Kodak when it was new technology.)
Bottom line, great camera.

pros and cons
Yes, It's 10MP, very clear. But, I also experienced the problem of some buzz with the button. And, it seems that I need to learn to deal with the weak light.
Rating :
a bit hit and miss, really.
I did a bit of research on this camera before making the decision to buy it. Apparently I just didn't do enough.
At 10mp, the quality is disappointing. I've had cameras that were perhaps 4mp and yet they still took sharper, clearer photos. As much as I play with the settings, and no matter how steady the photo is or how careful I am in paying attention to the lighting, I still find it falling behind my first Kodak from 1998. This is not a good thing, in the least.
It is also very fragile! I had to send in my first one for a broken lens when it slipped out of my hand and hit the table, even though I had the wrist strap on and the fall was perhaps a few inches.
On the bright side, it is extremely easy to navigate, and focuses very well, even if the quality isn't as wonderful as I had been hoping. All in all, it is a fairly good camera for its price, and beats out most other digitals in its price range. However, I think I'll do a bit more review reading the next time I buy a camera -- and probably go crawling back to Nikon for the quality/durability combo I desire.

why the picture comes with too much light or black in the low light spots
i bought this camera a month before. i don't get why the picture comes so dark in the low light places. sometimes it comes completely dark in those cases. i am tired of it because i can't take any decent picture in the clubs or at night. does anyone have any suggestion about it. i played with manual but nothing seems to work. please help me if someone know about it.

third times the charm??
I bought this camera while i was pregnant because i figured i would need a good one for when the baby came. I was really pleased with it and it did take really nice photos. The videos werent the best but i suppose you cant expect perfect videos from a cheap camera. When the baby came i had someone running around the delivery room snapping pictures. Every other picture was blurry. I dont know if it was the operator or just the camera. I did notice that you had to wait a long time and have the perfect light for the camera to take really good pics. After having the camera for about 2 or 3 months i had an accident involving dirty baby clothes a misplaced camera and a washing machine...needles to say the camera didnt make it out alive. I decided to go ahead and buy the same camera agian. I was still pleased with it but a little bummed i couldnt find the 10mp for as cheap so instead i had to settle for the 8.2. Anyways im an avid review reader and i had read a couple that said the camera straight up quit working after 6 months. I decided to ignore them because most of the other comments were totally positive. I had my second camera for about 5 months and it died...on its own...no washing machine involved. It was like the Auto Focus just completely quit working for some reason. (really bad timing too because i was at the hospital with my friend while she was having HER baby when i found out it quit working.) Anyway i liked the camera but cant decide if i want to try it out a third time and risk the chance of getting burned.

Questions & Answers
Question : Has anyone used the new Kodak digital camera to take sports pics in a high school gym?
I have a camera but the pictures always come out blury. I was told I need a stableization in my camera like the new Kodak has. I want to make sure if I get that camera it will work fine. It is frustrating because I want to take good action shots of my son on the court and they come out blury. Any feedback?
Answer:
sorry you heard that.
a stabilizer takes away your hand shaking not an object moving.
the light in a gym seems bright.
but, it fools the camera.
if you write an email to me and tell me what kind of camera you have - I might be able to help you.
the best thing you can do without changing the camera settings - is to get as close as you can and use the flash.

Question : Kodak Digital camera, c653, got dampened in water is it repairable?
I got the kodak c653 digital camera which got dampened, can it be repaired if yes whom do i need to show? i stay at hyderabad, please suggest..
Answer:
Electronics and water don't go well together. If it works after drying out, great. If not, the water probably caused a short circuit which would make it doubtful that it can be repaired. However, I've seen electronics survive water damage, but the battery was ruined. You might get lucky and get by with only having to get a new battery.

Question : I have a Kodak Digital Camera and it got wet, how can I fix it myself?
I have a Kodak Easy Share Z740 Digital Camera that was sent to get repaired but the extendant warranty does not cover water/moisture getting into the camera. My dad is going to kill me when he finds out!! I'm in a hurry,Please help me.
Answer:
If you have to ask you don''t have the technical ability yourself. Look in your phone book and see if there is a local camera repair centre and pay for the repair yourself.
As this camera is a low end one it may not be worth the cost of repairing it. Maybe a replacement is in order.
Have you ever thought of being honest with your father? As a parent I know I would prefer the last option.
Good luck

i have windows movie maker but the video files are not compatible with the moviemaker program. any idea on how you convert them so they are usable??
Answer:

Question : Best Kodak Digital Camera, or Digital Cameras in general?
I'm planning on buying a digital camera soon and I was just wondering which Kodak Digital Camera is best. Some of my choices include: Kodak Easyshare V1273, Kodak Easyshare V1073, Or the Kodak Easyshare M883.
I was also wondering if Kodak is a good Camera brand & if not, Which camera do you consider is good.
Answer:
Why Kodak? It's not a good brand for "Cameras" believe me.
I'd suggest to go through some reviews before you make your decision. My favorite site for this is: www.dpreview.com (You may need to know the basic elements in digital photography to make a good choice)
Finally, I'd go for Sony, Canon, Olympus, or Panasonic. Those are the really good ones.
Good Luck...

Question : Transfering pictures from Kodak digital camera to Dell Desktop?
I recently reformatted my hard drive. Before I would plug my Kodak digital camera in and then a menu would pop up and I could transfer my pictures from my camera to my Dell Dimenson 3000 desktop. I could also do some minor editing like the darkness and cropping. Now when I plug in the camera, nothing happens. Do I need to reinstall a driver or software. I had whatever was standard/came with the computer. What do I need to get it back to the way it was before I reformatted the computer?
I already have the CD that came with camera and tried D/L software from Kodak. Both are the same. I don't like that program, too complicated. I am looking for the program that came with the computer, but not sure what it would be called.
Answer:
If you go to the Kodak website, you can type in the model of the camera that you have and it will give you the option of downloading the updated drivers for your camera as well as the updated "EasyShare" software. No need to look for you CD that came with the camera. You may have to register on the site but it's ad/spy-free anyway and you can opt-out of emails. Hope that helps.

Question : How can I get a clearer picture on my Kodak digital camera?
I have a P850 Kodak digital camera and I can't get close up pictures ( of flowers, animals etc..) to be very clear. Any suggestions?
Answer:
well if you have the 24-140 lens than your minimum focusing distance is 2.0 - 20.4 inches in macro focusing range according the datasheet online i found for this camera.
if you are staying within those limits and have the lens or camera set to macro it should be in focus. if not try using a tripod to keep the camera steady alot of times its you moving and you don't realize it. if not staying within 2.0-20.4 inches of your subject and you need to get further or closer try close up filters wich any decent camera store should sell and carry. or try buying a macro lens which only does macro. lmk if these solutions don't help- i love helping solve camera problems like this.
