I must have bad luck!

I did my research prior to purchasing this item. I read the customer reveiws and even got feed back from a coworker who purchased the same item. First after only 6 photos in the camera it was stating memory full so purchased a memory card and all was good. Owned the camera another 2 weeks and the camera would not hold a charge. Charged the camera for a total of 8 hours and would not charge. Then camera just wouldn't turn on at all. I was leaving for my cruse on Monday and decided to try another charge for 12 hours and still wouldn't even turn on. Had to go out and purchase a $7.99 Kodak instant camera for the cruise.

I'm being generous with 1 star

Kodak EasyShare M893IS 8.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Silver) Worst camera I've ever owned. I have had 3 Kodak EasyShare cameras before and loved every one of them. I bought this because of that but have regretted that decision ever since. First the lens kept getting stuck either in or out and the camera wouldn't take any photos. I sent it back for service. Got it back with a note that said nothing was wrong with it. Same thing happened when we were on vacation, I got stuck using the throw away cameras. Sent it back again, they said they fixed it but it happened again. The third time they did replace the camera with a "reconditioned" one. It has worked for 3 months but now the lens is starting to stick again.

Along with it not working properly the pictures are just horrible. The action pictures are to dark if you are inside. IF you use the inside setting there is no action setting. Everything is blurry, low light and just plan bad quality.

Don't buy this camera if you have children and want to take quick and fast photos. Focus is extremely bad and very very slow. Image Stablization is a joke.

I think I'm giving up on kodak and going with a Nikon or Canon.

Dissapointing

I did alot of research before finally choosing this camera. The price seemed right, it had extremely high megapixels, and was compact in size. It seemed perfect.

Upon reiceiving it, I was immediately wary. It was sluggish. I found that after taking a picture, when I pushed to review it, sometimes it would take 20 -30 seconds to load. Then it would freeze. The pictures were often grainy or blurry. I hoped that maybe with continued use, it might begin to work better- but it didn't. As the weeks went on, it froze more and more.

One month after my purchase, it broke entirely. I took it to the beach and kept it in a zip lock bag, and placed it inside a waterproof sling. The next day, it didn't turn on. I sent it into Kodak to get it looked at in hopes of the warranty kicking in. I was charged a large sum for the inspection, then told that there was some sand in it. To get it fixed it would cost a hundred dollars, in which I had already spent 50 for them to look at it.

I have a Kodak z760 that is amazing. I had thought to upgrade with this camera. However, my 6 megapixel took far better pictures than this one ever did. Its been very durable, I've taken it to the beach, my sister has dropped it, its been wet, and it has never failed. This camera was always very slow, the pictures were not quality

You get what you pay for

Every time someone sees that I have a camera with 12 mp they ask, oh my goodness, how good is it?? I've never seen a camera with 12 mp! Well, I tell them, for less than 200$, I got what I paid for, which was a camera that takes still shots EXTREMELY well. So, well that I actually have had still shots of flowers and birds that people want me to frame. Moving shots are a lot harder, but I am going to keep experimenting with it and I'm sure I'll grow to love it more as I'm familiar with it's specs.

It's 'okay' for a Point and Shoot

I thought I'd review this camera now that I've had it for almost a year. It's okay. Not the greatest camera out there. The picture quality if really good when using the flash and in Auto focus. You do need a steady hand in order to not have blurry pictures. My biggest issue thus far is that I CANNOT for the life of me get clear pictures without using the flash. I wanted to take pictures in a darker setting to get Christmas lights, but the settings such as candlelight or fireworks, or other nighttime settings just don't cut it. The pictures are grainy, blurred, and too dark. I also have a 15 month old and it's very difficult getting a non-blurred shot of her at times.
If you are into landscape scenes, taking pictures of flora, etc. where the scenery basically doesn't move, then you can definitely get really nice pictures.
As for the video, it's not bad. I haven't had any issues with the sound or the picture. Both are pretty clear.
One other issue I've had is that there have been times where the camera has gotten stuck to where it's not really off or on. Usually this would happen if the battery needs charged, but when it's happened to me, the battery was fully charged.
Anyhow, I rated this three stars. I think that you can probably find a better camera than this.

Ok, but...

After reading many good reviews for this camera, I decided to purchase it. I'm a sucker for good design, and the 12 megapixel with HD video were features i couldn't resist.
Outside, on extremely sunny days, the pictures are excellent. Razor-sharp detail, perfect coloring, ect... but on cloudy days or indoors, the pictures turned out blurry and shaky 9/10 times. Sure there's a flash, but that only works for close-up subjects. Outdoors, when using flash on a subject, say, across the street, the pictures are almost completely black, and wastes battery unnecessarily.
Close-ups on things like flowers and stuff are beautiful, but it isn't the best camera for taking pictures of people. You have them pose, you take a picture without the flash, you wait to find the colors are completely washed out. You turn off flash, you take the picture, you wait, only to find the picture extremely blurry. The whole process takes so long that the people you're taking a picture of get angry and annoyed at you.
Lots of time, the video quality was better than the actual picture quality with flash off.
Mostly, this camera is good, like freaky good. Its like a microscope. Yet it falls pretty darn short when taking pictures with the flash off...
That is unless I'm doing something wrong, and believe me when I say I've tried everything i could think of.

Buyer Beware!

Unbelievable! You would think that if you ordered a camera with a rechargeable battery in it, it would ship with the charger. But wait! You have to order one separately and nowhere does it tell you that in the order process or online descriptions. You have to wait until you have the user manual in hand (and a dead battery) So at the very least I had to pay for additional shipping where, if they had indicated that it was a REQUIRED accessory, I could have included it in the original shipment.

Bad Image Quality

Let me first say I am suprised that 12 out of 13 reviewers find this camera good, and let me also say I don't usually rate 1/5 most products I buy. This camera is really an exception.

Before I write this review I sent the camera back to the service to replace it, because I was sure that the specific piece was faulty.

Not only they didn't fix anything, they just returned it claiming that it was "calibrated". The images taken are full of blur , visible by naked eye. Printing or viewing @ TV is also bad.

I am staying away from Kodak next time.

C875 Not Recommended

We have had this camera for a year. I have taken more than 1000 personal and business pictures with it. In short, the Kodak Easyshare C875 is very disappointing. My suggestion, based on my experience - Spend your money elsewhere on a non-Kokak product!

The C875 is disappointing for at least four reasons. First, the auto-focus seldom works properly. This is true regardless of subject, lighting or camera settings. I've tried them all. Nothing works. I now take at least five pictures of a subject in the hope that at least one picture will be properly focused. (Camera on a tripod, good light, still subject. Four out of five are out-of-focus.) Second, the system eats batteries. Take a dozen pictures, store the camera for a week or two and the batteries will be dead or almost dead. Third, neither the auto mode nor the many "special" modes handle lighting properly. Again, I have learned to take multiple pictures of a subject in the hope that at least one will be properly exposed or will be close enough that photo software can correct the remaining exposure problems. Forth, speed is slow, slow, slow. Forget using the camera for anything that moves or is in anything less than brightest sunlight. The shutter delay is both long and unpredictable. Also, the camera takes three to six seconds to recover after each shot. Again, based on this experience, look at something other than the C875.

My Background: First SLR - 1974. Owned five other SLR's through the 90's. Have three digital cameras including this C875.

Everything I could possibly want in a camera

As a preface, before I came to own the Kodak C875, my primary camera of choice were two things: (1) A $5 digital camera I purchased off of eBay and (2)my cell phone. Needless to say, both were terrible for taking pictures, not simply because of picture quality, but because of lack of good flash, and not enough MP (I like high resolution pictures).

So I eventually decided I needed a dedicated camera. Admittedly, I eventually decided upon the Kodak C875 due to good reviews, brand name, price, and significantly because it was 8MP (at a time when 10-12MP was extremely high end). However, I am happy to say that, after two years of ownership, I have never been disappointed by this camera.

To begin, one of the best things I like about this camera is simply how simple it is to use. Most of the features of the cameras can be used simply by turning the mode know on the top, flash is handled by a button to the left of that while another button is for the timer. All of this makes it easy to take photos. If you want to take a quick photo, you turn it to 'On' and the smart settings will help you take the best possible photograph. On the other hand, 'SCN' (Scene) will help you determine the best type of photograph in a certain setting (Night, sports game, close up, etc) or, if you know how, you can simply take over by using manual.

Some of the most impressive things about the cameras are the LCD screen, the ability to take panoramic pictures, and the ability to edit pictures within the cameras. The LCD is great because it makes taking pictures just a whole lot easier (especially since it's so large); personally, I never really liked the viewfinder on cameras much, so this was a big plus for me. Secondly, the ability to take panoramic photographs is highly impressive, and just an overall great thing to have on a camera that is supposed to be point and shoot. Lastly, while I never used it myself, I do appreciate the ability to do things such as sort pictures (date, album, slideshow, etc), and the ability to enhance or crop pictures right within the camera.

However, I've been going on too long about the technical aspects. The big question is what is the quality of the pictures? 'Excellent' is the word I would use. The quality is very clear and is well able to capture all the details within the photograph. Colors are vibrant and accurate; flash is bright enough to illuminate most dark areas I try to photograph. Overall, the photographs are just really high quality.

Ultimately, for those who may be looking for a point and shoot camera, it really is difficult to go wrong with the Kodak C875. It is simple to use, filled with features, it uses standard SD cards (meaning cheap memory!), and it takes high quality photographs. Really, what more could a person ask for?

Great shots... until flash stopped working

I got the Kodak C875 as a gift just under two years ago, and at first I loved it. Previously I'd always had Nikon or Canon cameras. The camera is very easy-to-use right out of the box, and the one-touch transfer button on the charging dock (sold separately) is a nice feature for someone who doesn't have a lot of time to sit around uploading photos. It took some trial and error to get the best possible shots and learn how to work around the camera's small limitations, just as with any product.

Once I got familiar with the camera, I got some really great photos. As a "snapshot" camera it's great, particularly in outdoor sunshine. People were always complimenting the action shots I got of kids. But I was able to set up some nice shots using the manual settings as well. I have one killer nighttime closeup photo of a spider on a dewy web that I flatter myself to think looks quite professional.

In spite of all this I have to give this product only two stars and recommend against purchasing it, because the flash stopped working a month ago, and I am dismayed to learn that this is quite a common occurrence and that Kodak's customer service is completely unhelpful about fixing it. I can only assume it's another instance of planned obsolescence to keep people buying a new camera every few years. Sorry Kodak, but I'm going back to Canon and Nikon.

Rating :

Flash gone bust

Just after two years of use, the flash is gone bust. It is no use to get it repaired as you can get a canon powershot for less than the cost of repair. So no more KODAK products for me.

Question : How do you edit Kodak digital camera videos?
I want to edit a video I took on my Kodak easyshare digital camera, but the program that comes with the camera does not allow me to edit the video. Where can i download a free editing program that works with Kodak Easyshare software? Thanks in advance! :) i just want basic editing capabilities: trimming clips, adding titles, fading in and out, maybe some cool transition effects? just any editing that is compatible with easyshare will make me a happy camper. :) i have windows movie maker but the video files are not compatible with the moviemaker program. any idea on how you convert them so they are usable??

Question : Can i somehow put filters on my tiny kodak digital camera??
I have a small kodak digital camera, it's just plain digital. It doesn't even have a "mm" sized lense. Just a regular digital camera. is there a way to adapt lenses to it? would they be effective if i had to rig up something? or would the become deffective because of the distance between the lens and the filter?

Answer:
what sort of filters do you want to add to it? in this age of digital photography the only useful filter would be a UV filter for protection, any other effects could be replicated in digital editing. If you do want effects without editing, you could get away with holding up a filter to the lens but, really, why? and yes, the further you hold from the lens, the more distortion you will get. but hey, try it. no harm can come...

Question : Is there a way to restore pictures saved to the internal memory of my Kodak digital camera?
My digital camera is a Kodak EasyShare CX7430. I had some pictures on the internal memory and they got erased, and unfortunately it seems I cannot restore them. When I hook the camera up to my computer, it recognizes it as a device, not removable media. I would be willing to do anything, as I am also going to contact Kodak. Since the camera doesn't work anymore anyway, I would also be willing to take the camera apart. Please help me! I have tried numerous programs and so far nothing works. Thank you!

Question : Question about Kodak digital camera and windows movie maker?
I have a Kodak digital "easy share" camera. It records video and i've put a couple video files from my camera directly on my computer. I can view them through Quicktime or on the internet (after uploaded), but windows media player doesnt work for them. They are in ".mov" format, and i dont know why i cant play them on windows. I also want to know why it wont let me upload them onto windows movie maker to edit and make a movie out of them. It says that ".mov" files are uploadable under WMM help, yet every time i try to upload them it says something along the lines of it not being compatable. Does anybody know why this is? Is there a way i can change it or fix it? I've gone through windows help of all sorts and cant seem to come to a solution. Serious answers only please. Thankyou!!!

Question : I have a Kodak Digital Camera and it got wet, how can I fix it myself?
I have a Kodak Easy Share Z740 Digital Camera that was sent to get repaired but the extendant warranty does not cover water/moisture getting into the camera. My dad is going to kill me when he finds out!! I'm in a hurry,Please help me.

Answer:
If you have to ask you don''t have the technical ability yourself. Look in your phone book and see if there is a local camera repair centre and pay for the repair yourself. As this camera is a low end one it may not be worth the cost of repairing it. Maybe a replacement is in order. Have you ever thought of being honest with your father? As a parent I know I would prefer the last option. Good luck

Question : How can I get a clearer picture on my Kodak digital camera?
I have a P850 Kodak digital camera and I can't get close up pictures ( of flowers, animals etc..) to be very clear. Any suggestions?

Answer:
well if you have the 24-140 lens than your minimum focusing distance is 2.0 - 20.4 inches in macro focusing range according the datasheet online i found for this camera. if you are staying within those limits and have the lens or camera set to macro it should be in focus. if not try using a tripod to keep the camera steady alot of times its you moving and you don't realize it. if not staying within 2.0-20.4 inches of your subject and you need to get further or closer try close up filters wich any decent camera store should sell and carry. or try buying a macro lens which only does macro. lmk if these solutions don't help- i love helping solve camera problems like this.

Question : Best Kodak Digital Camera, or Digital Cameras in general?
I'm planning on buying a digital camera soon and I was just wondering which Kodak Digital Camera is best. Some of my choices include: Kodak Easyshare V1273, Kodak Easyshare V1073, Or the Kodak Easyshare M883. I was also wondering if Kodak is a good Camera brand & if not, Which camera do you consider is good.

Answer:
Why Kodak? It's not a good brand for "Cameras" believe me. I'd suggest to go through some reviews before you make your decision. My favorite site for this is: www.dpreview.com (You may need to know the basic elements in digital photography to make a good choice) Finally, I'd go for Sony, Canon, Olympus, or Panasonic. Those are the really good ones. Good Luck...
