Customer Review :
HP R507 camera is great. Would buy another.
Got R507 bundled with HP laptop. Thought it was just a cheap one. Boy am I happy with it. It has so many features that the book is 180 pages long. All the light condition compensations realy work well. I go inside and turn off the flash. You do not need it, camera compensates. I used 35mm single lens cameras since 1952, and lost my Pentax just before I got the R507. Do not want a 35mm now. Get extra battery and the 1 gig SD chip. Gives 8,400 pixs on lowest res. Suggest you buy any R, (not M) series. New R817 has 5X optical zoom, 40X total.

Be informed.....
Bought an HP Photosmart R717 in the summer of 2005 for $324.74. 4 months after the camera warranty was up and after minimal usage the camera was displaying: 0000000F-10FB-1BD-024 Error Message, on the display screen.
When I called HP about getting my camera repaired I was told that it would be too expensive to repair. I was informed it would cost around $200.00 dollars to receive most likely a refurbished replacement camera, with only a 3-month warranty.
After trying the replacement camera for 15 days I was then to send my old camera back as partial payment for the replacement camera.
I told HP no thanks, because they had already gotten enough money from me.

Fun, Inexpensive, Great Warranty Coverage, and Fits in the Palm of Your Hand
This is my first digital camera. I've always had good experiences with HP products, and this camera is yet another one to add to my list. I love that it has both optical AND digital zoom features. Secondly, it's quite handy and tiny that you can fit it in an average pants, coat or even shirt pocket. Finally, the warranty is simply amazing. This past new year's eve, during the fireworks and festivities downtown, I slipped the device into my pocket along with the car keys. The car keys punctured the quick-view window, BUT HP kindly replaced it with a brand new camera! Yes, the warranties don't last long, but it certainly offers great coverage in the meantime. If you are a first-time or amateur digital photographer, you will have tons of fun with this camera. It's really fun to use and at a reasonable price.

HP Cameras don't last very long
I would not recommend any HP camera. This camera was an upgrade from one that broke down a month after the warranty was up, and that one was an upgrade from one that broke 2 months after the warranty was up. I'm not getting another! None of the 3 HP cameras I had could be repaired. The only option I was offered was to upgrade. For the upgrade I sent my old camera back and paid slighly less that I would if I bought a new one. They sent me a "new" camera. It was a refurbished camera, not new. None of the damage on any of my 3 cameras was through carelessness or misuse. The first 2 cameras gave me error messages and shut off. I was told this was an internal problem that could not be fixed. On the third camera the screen went blank. It can't be fixed. I'm going to do a lot of research before buying my next camera, but one thing I'm sure of - it won't be an HP!

Not worth it!!!!
I bought this camera for Christmas and it is absolutely horrible! It takes really bad quality pictures and it has a very noisy lens. It's a great looking camera but the screen is only 2 inches which is very small. This camera is not a good buy for it's class.
Rating :
HP keeps it simple and smart
The HP camera is very easy to use and takes great pictures, its small enough to carry comfortable but does not feel fragile
Rating :
Excellent For the Price
The HP Photosmart M527 is an all around well built camera, espicially considering the price it can be purchased at.
The body is all metal and it's honestly built like a small tank. It feels good and strong in your hands. The weight of the camera is also very evenly balanced, so you can hold it in one hand and get clear shots in almost any situation. The ergonomics and overall design also help with this. Every button on the camera can be accessed with just your one hand.
The screen is very nice, bright, and colorful, even on the lowest brightness setting. I really don't have a problem with it being "only" 2". I can't imagine a situation where the "small" screen would negatively impact the ability to accurately frame a shot.
The image quality, for the price, is also fantastic. The shots can be a little noisey. But honestly, how many cameras in this price range will not produce noisey pictures? Considering the price, the image quality is great. Sure, it doesn't look as good as a Canon that costs an extra hundred dollars. But that doesn't mean the image quality is bad. The noise disappears completely when you shrink the picture down to fit in an email. Afterall, you're not emailing friends pictures that are 3.3MB in size each, are you? ;) When printed out, using a photo printer or getting them done professionally, the prints are very colorful with good detail, definition, and color saturation. They will definitely be able to sit next to all of your other framed prints, or go in a photo album, and only you will ever know that it is a digital print because nobody else will be able to see the difference in quality.
The camera also offers multiple shooting modes that can help improve the image quality in certain situations. For example, it has a "Portrait" mode which can help the look of closeups dramatically. It also has the obvious "Night" mode which will take care of any dark or murky pictures in low light. There is a "Beach and Snow" mode which will help you with those high contrast shots in bright lighting. It has a Macro mode which has obvious uses. You can also manually adjust certain other parameters, such as ISO speed. However, you cannot adjust shutter speed or more advanced settings like that. But if you find your pictures aren't exactly what you want them to be, there are definitely modes that can help you get the quality you desire.
The camera also has a decent movie mode. It can record roughly 30 minutes of slightly better than VHS quality video, with sound, on a 512MB memory card. It's not very good in low light, but it can be good for those quick moments when you are out and wish you had a video camera. However, you cannot zoom in or out while recording. You can adjust the zoom before and after recording. But not during.
The camera also has very extensive photo editing features built-in, like the famous "slimming" effect, and you can do other things like add borders. It also has a very thorough Help system.
There are only a couple of minor gripes I have about this camera. The first is battery life. Real world battery life is about 100 shots on two alkaline batteries. So get some rechargables or lithium batteries. The second gripe is that the memory card slot is right in there with the batteries. So that can be a little bit of a pain if you use a memory card reader instead of hooking the camera up to your computer to transfer pictures.
Overall its a great camera for the price, as long as you keep you are realistic with what to expect. You're getting a complete package for not very much money. Not many other cameras under the $200 price range offer such a complete package. If you're looking for a great camera on the cheap that is built well and has a ton of features, this is definitely one to look at. However, if you want absolutely pristine image quality, you're better off looking at the $250+ Canon PowerShot A6x0 series. For me, this camera is the one that is built like a tank and will get taken with me everywhere I go. But I will keep a higher quality Canon around for those times when image quality is more important than the quick, yet good, shot.

buy this camera!!!
I've had digital cameras before, but this one is has it all. If you want to take really good pictures of your life then buy this camera. The HP Photosmart M527 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom has more features than I'll commonly use , but I think all of them will come in handy in specific settings. Easy to use and great photo quality.

A Decent Snapshot Camera, but Buy a Newer One
I have owned this camera for almost 3 years now, and it is the sturdiest and most reliable one that I have had. Once, I dropped it from 5 feet onto a sidewalk and it didn't even get a scratch. The outdoor picture quality is excellent, as well as the macro mode, but if you have shaky hands (like me), you will have a ton of blurry pics. The screen just can't compete with new cameras, being too small and dim to see outdoors. The flash is weak, but if you know how to use aperture and ISO settings, indoor shots will turn out pretty good. Personally, I think buyers would be better off buying one of HP's new R-series cameras (R717, R817, etc). While this camera is cheap and pretty reliable, the newer models have much more features and are still around $200-$300.

Solid, Dependable Camera
I have owned my hp photosmart 735 for about 3 or 4 years and have never once had a problem with it. It was a dependendable and consistant camera. My friends have many other types and have had to go through repairs and problems but not me. Everything that this camera says it does, it does. I have never had to worry about it quiting on me. So in my opinon if you are looking for a dependable camera, this I would defintly label as one of them.

okay
this cam was great when untill the flash didnt work! i went online for support but after talking to them, they said it was a internal malfunction or something like that but by then the warrantee already expired so im stuck with a flashless camera. Ive miss many special moments due to no flash. and its really hard taking pictures with no flash and no tripod.
But overall good camera! batteries seems as though they die quick but like i turn it off for like a few hours then the batteries came back to full power again. The video mode is pretty good....i also recommend using the power adapter when possible! that way you can turn the camera on as long as you want without worrying about the batteries dieing out!The printer is a really great printer as well!...but sadly i cant live any longer with a flashless camera so im going to sell this up or just give it to my brother or something and saving up for a Fuji Finepix s5100...Good luck!

horrible waste of money
You can literally take 8 shots and the camera is dead. I've missed so many photo opps. Definitely NOT worth buying.
Rating :
use it right, it does the job
This was my first digital camera and it's because of this camera that I stuck with HP when upgrading. It's a very good point and shoot camera with enough modes and settings to satisfy those who like fiddling with such things.
Many of the reviews here complain about battery life. Turn off the live display, you don't need it anyway since the viewfinder is accurate. I never got *fewer* than 60 pictures (sometimes more) in two star mode with the live display off, on a pair of 1800 mAh rechargeables. I also had a big difference when I changed the auto shutoff to a shorter time period.
Also, yes, you need a memory card -- but what digital camera doesn't? I had a 64 MB card with mine and only once completely used the card up.
Shutter speed is a little slower than average for the class but fine for everything except action shots. Lens glass is by Pentax and is good quality. No, you won't get digital SLR quality from this camera, but at <$140 it's a great deal.

An easy-on-the-eyes display (2.5"), 7 megapixel resolution, and 21x total zoom are just a few of the reasons you'll like Photosmart R742. It has all the usual cool HP camera features, including the ability to get rid of red eye and Design Gallery for dressing up your shots. And this sleek model is super compact and easy to stash in a purse or backpack.
Customer Review :
Poor product service from HP
This is an excellent camera and I've been delighted, but guess what? It's now no longer available and neither is a replacement charger for the battery. My charger got misplaced when we moved, and I thought, no problem I'll just go to the HP site and reorder. The charger is not available; no picture of it anywhere, no suggestion of an alternate item to buy. The online help referred me to the HP Parts store page, no mention of it there either. My opinion of HP has changed...they do not stand by their products.
Rating :
Horrible Camera
Worst camera ever. Pictures are dark, I've had it replaces 5 times, customer service is extremely poor and same error every time, charging battery and with a full battery nonetheless, which means you have to wait at least 60 seconds in between pictures. Very annoying, never would buy again

HP R742 Photosmart Digital Camera (Black)
This is my families third HP R742 digital camera. It is very easy to use. It has a rechargeable battery with charger. This 7 mega-pixel camera takes excellent pictures. It comes in different colors witch is great because everyone in my family had a different color camera.

Best Choice for Me
I have always wanted a digital camera, and after much research found the HP R742 Photosmart to be the best deal for the money and product. I originally wanted the Ruby Red, but I had Amazon bucks, and it wasn't available on Amazon yet. Turns out, color was not such a big deal, and the black one was a great choice. It is easy to use, and will not take the pic if you are out of focus or moving too much. The ease of downloading the images to my laptop is great and all of the camera functions are easy to use. I'm not a pro photographer, but I just can't take a bad picture thanks to HP R742.

Really bad camera
My daughter has had two of these cameras. Both broke within two months. HP replaced both but since camera is now discontinued, I am not surprised it has been phased out. Go elsewhere for a point and shoot.

I have had this camera for 6 years and I love it! It is heavier and bulkier with none of the bells and whistles that newer cameras have, but it is reliable, takes great pictures, has some convenient and nice features.
A good camera.

Wich one is better? Please no mean comments. We are just wondering.
Except mine is a navy color but that doesn't mater
Answer:
Your camera has better specs, because it has optical image stabilization.
However, the specs are so close that any differences are more likely due to the photographer and not the camera.
If I were to pick one for myself, I'd take yours. :-)

Question : Importing photo's from camera to iPhoto on macbook?
Right, here's the problem,
I have a Hewlett Packard E427 digital camera. I have no Hewlett Packard software. I'm trying to import photo's from the camera to iPhoto on my macbook.
When I connect the camera to the macbook using USB, iPhoto opens automatically but doesn't give me an (obvious) option to import the photo's.
According to Hewlett Packard, you do not have to use their software to import photo's.
What am I doing wrong? It's driving me crazy!
Thanks.
Answer:
download the drivers off Hewlett Packard and connect the camera to the mac and copy it from the camera to iphoto

Question : Is the Hewlett Packard Photosmart M437 Digital Camera, 5.0MP a good camera?
Tell me some of the 'great' features of this camera. Like if you can make your pics black and white on the camera, and if it has options like that.
Answer:
Yes , but I prefer the PCWOrld magazine "best buy" ( price x technologie x megapixels ), the
HP Photosmart R927 ,8.2 megapixels ( $260.00 ) and HP Photosmart R967 , 10 megapixels. ( $280.00).
The Photosmart M437 is good but the difference bettween cameras are just $50 ( if your choice is Deluxe acessories kit ), or basic kit ( $140.00) .
The M437 has a range of shooting modes that provide predefined settings for everyday situations. They are optimized for particular types of scenes or shooting situations and include Beach and Snow,
-Landscape, Night portrait, and more.
-Record Video and Print Video stills.
-Built-in and Expandable Memory.
-In-camera Editing Features.
The other cameras features:
-3.0" LCD Display.
-Take Creative Control
-The Photosmart R927 Digital Camera has a complete range of exposure and scene options, including manual exposure, so you"ll be able to get exactly the image you want.
-HP Adaptive Lighting
This ground-breaking technology automatically adjusts high contrast photos to reveal the detail that would otherwise be lost in the shadows - ideal when you're shooting into the sun or using flash.
HP In-camera Red-eye Removal
Remove red-eye without having to transfer photos to your computer. This unique, easy-to-use tool automatically recognizes red-eye and lets you remove it immediately via your camera's LCD screen.
HP In-camera Panorama Stitching
Your camera stitches up to 5 photos together to create a single photo for easy printing.
And I like HP support.
good luck

Question : Hewlett Packard Photosmart Mz67 is it a good camera??
i'm looking for a camera to take quality pictures and motion pictures such as horses jumping. is it s good camera to bring amazing quality? if not what is? i was thinking of the Canon PowerShot SX100. how do i turn off the digital zoom on both of the cameras? because i have both camera at my hands to buy. all i want to know is which one has the better picture quaility and best quaility of motion pictures such as horses jumping. i think the Canon PowerShot SX100 sucks at flash pictures, but i can always return it for another one if i don't like it :) so how do i turn the digital zoom off and which one's better
Answer:
SX100 IS is better because it has Av, Tv and M mode. Tv mode will be useful for sport photography. All point and shoot digital cameras have some shutter lag. When you try to shoot the horse jumping, pre-focus (half press the shutter button) on something which the horse is going to jump over first. Press the shutter button all the way when you the horse jumps. You may need to practice a couple of times to get the right timing.
