Okay for a cheap older camera
Good for quick and easy shots at parties and such. It's not a tiny little camera and obviously not pro material, but the quality is reasonable considering the cost and age. At 3MP, it is a good choice for someone who wants snapshots to post online or wants only smaller-size prints. I'm the world's worst about fuzzy pictures and this camera is fast enough to offset my shaky hands.
The only real drawback - and it's significant - is that the lens cover slides open too easily. Mine opens inside the camera case. Considering that opening the cover also turns on the camera, that means battery drain as a side effect. Presumably everyone uses rechargeable batteries these days. Even so, I'd recommend keeping the batteries out of the camera until you're ready to use it, or you'll find that you don't have enough power to snap anything.

Do not waste your time and money on this product.
This camera was a gift. After using it for three months, the LCD screen became unreadable and the pictures stored in the memory disk were pixelated to the point of abstract art. I do not recommend buying this camera for personal use or anyone else for that matter. Another alternative would be Nikon or Canon brand point and shoot digital cameras. (Not endorsing other products but HP are not known for digital photography, though a admirable attempt at it).

UGH!!!
This camera drinks battery juice like an alcholic drinks beer. Piece of junk that takes horrible, low-quality photos. Not even worth $50 new. One of the worst digital cameras I have ever used.
Rating :
I've had better.
The pros about this cam is that the pictures.. were decent. And the software was pretty cool.
But the cons? You could not keep enough batteries around to keep it goin.. and the flash is way too bright.. it even actually effected the pictures.

My first digital camera!!! :D :D :D
This was my first digital camera. In fact, I still keep it around. In think is a pretty good and decent camera. It is easy to use and it is not heavy. Is perfect for vacations, party's, and other activities.
Ok, so the flash it is not so great. And it really uses up batteries rather fast.
Anyway, I would buy it again if i could :D :D!!

What is wrong with the color of my photos???
I am very disappointed with this camera. I hate to leave a negative review, but I have no choice...I have owned several HP digital cameras(and other products) over the past several years and have loved each and every one of them(I am very faithful to buying only HP products) . They were all easy to use right out of the box and I never ever had any problems with the color of my photos. UNTIL NOW:( I was so exicted to purchase this camera and could not wait til it arrived. It got awesome reviews so I knew it had to be good... The seller sent it promptly(THANK YOU J&R camera:) and when it arrived I opened the box, and I immediatly started to use it. I work with preschoolers and could not wait to see the photos I had taken of the little cuties. Much to my surprise my photos were a horrible shade of YELLOW!! So I tried again and again and still my photos were yellow...Now, I'm no professional photographer, but I do have several years of experiance using digital cameras, and have never had a problem like this...I called HP and after over an hour of trouble shooting, they sent me a replacement camera thinking perhaps it was defective. Well, that was a month ago and I still have the same issues. I am not sure what I could be doing wrong. I have tried changing the settings and everything and still they are yellow. I am not used to having to change any settings for the color, as I have never had to in the past and my photos turned out beautiful...so perhaps I'm doing something wrong...or perhaps this isn't the camera for me....it's certainly not as easy to use as my past cameras...unfortunatly, it has been over 30 days and I can't return it. I wish I knew how to solve this problem....HP tech support only left me frustrated...

Batteries & Flash
Bought 2 of these & gave 1 to a friend - Had flash problems right away & dealt w/ H.P.Support 4 times - They claimed batteries were the problem each time! After buying fresh rechargables locally twice w/ no improvement I got Sony batteries & it works perfect
A great camera @ a low price w/ superb tech support Thank You

Totally useless outdoors
This is the first HP product we have ever regretted buying. This camera is totally useless outdoors in bright sunlight. You cannot see a thing on the LCD screen, even at its brightest setting, and the battery saving feature turns it off too soon while you are struggling to see the picture. Trying to use the zoom with a questionable live view is also impossible as you cannot find your target. The photos that do result appear to be OK, but you can't count on getting what you really wanted. We had to resort to our old HP Photosmart 935 camera on recent vacation - fortunately we took both along. Whoever decided that optical viewfinders should be eliminated is crazy. And, to not be able to recharge batteries without a dock is absurd while travelling. HP - rethink your line of cameras!

amazing little camera
A close friend purchased one of these cameras over a year ago (an older model than mine) and I was instantly amazed at how user friendly it was. My daughter was looking at digital cameras and I suggested the HP which after doing some research she purchased the HP MZ67. After playing around with hers I also bought one! The pictures are clear, it takes wonderful videos, has a nice large veiwing screen and the price is hard to beat. My friend is still using her older model as well with no complaints!

Great, reliable, little camera
I'm surprised to see low reviews for this camera! I purchased one a little over 3 years ago, my first digital camera! It was great, easy to use, never any problems and I used it for my first photography class and was taking better pictures than most of the more expensive models! After about a year, I purchased a larger more expensive camera and gave this one to my daughter to "use". Two years later and I still haven't gotten it back...she loves it, hasn't had any problems with it either; and has no intention of returning it! I'm thinking about getting another one to carry with me for those unexpected photo ops.

Decent pics, good price
I've had this HP Photosmart E317 for almost two years. Use it for taking still pictures of items I auction online. For this and for distance shots, it's alright. For close-ups, not so great...just can't get the nitty-gritty details. Like others have said, alkaline battery life is lousy though double when you're not using the flash. Display is clear; it's easy to use; settings are adequate; downloading easy; price was right. Don't expect professional grade pics from this. As a backup or for a camera you won't have to worry about, this will work.

Good but a pain
I got this camera as a gift for Christmas last year and I was happy that i got it. the only thing that i have to complain about about this camera is the fact that it eats the battery up like there is no tomorrow. i can't tell you how many batteries i went through so that I can use the camera. and also the flash takes a long time to charge up and that really mad the people i was trying to take a picture of very irritated. Though it has its flaws, the camera is overall a good camera. it takes very good pictures and they are as clear as day. But I just feel this isn't the camera for me and that's why I'm about to buy another one.

Dissapointed
Ok, I bought this for $103 for Christmas at the end of 2005. The second day I experienced problems, like it shutting off by itself. It also ate up all the batteries. Then I got rechargeable batteries, but those were "killed" by the camera within a few months. The camera's pictures can be good, ok, or HORRIBLE. The pictures are easily shaken and the video "sucks." You can't see a thing in a video unless you literally have a flashlight shining light behind you. It is also quite fat and may even loose pictures from the memory on its own. In October 2006 I also experienced a new problem: When taking pictures outdoors the pictures come out completely white. Now it is December 25, 2006, exactly one year after I opened the package, and the LCD screen turns black by itself after some while. The picture quality is horrible and so is everything else. You could say that it "literally" lasted me a year, but it lost all the pleasures (if there were any to begin with) within the first two months, or so. Please don't waste your money...this completely ruins my opinion on HP...get a nice Kodak or Nikon or anything else than the HPE317.

bad camera, bad cust service from HP
I used this camera while studying abroad. It lasted until the last day of my trip, then the memory card wouldn't stay in the slot. I'm careful with my equipment and never dropped the camera or anything like that.
However, I disliked the camera prior to it completely not working, as the view screen (there is no view finder) jerks around so that you cannot see what you're aiming at unless your hand is completely still. Also, the battery cover does not like to stay closed.
As I'm still under the mfr warranty, I faxed the receipt, model and serial nbrs, and my contact info several times and am still experiencing unresolved customer service issues with HP tech support. If you want to avoid the possibility of problems like the above and do not want to deal with a cust service headache, go with a decent camera for a little more money. Sony Cybershots have worked well for other people I know.
I should also add that I bought this camera even after reading all the reviews on Amazon about it, because it was the cheapest thing (about eighty bucks) available in the little town I'm from. I thought the worst reviews were maybe overrated, but just on the basis of the horrible customer service I've received so far I would not buy another HP camera again and likely will never buy another HP printer, either.

Good Camera Overall
I liked the look, feel, and operation of this camera, it served me quite well and has now been passed on to my daughter to go along with her new HP computer. I replaced my 945 with an R967, because I wanted a higher resolution camera, and the smaller size of the 967 was a huge plus. Anyway, the only things I did not like about my 945 are a)it SUCKS BATTERIES!!! and b)this cam does not take pix in low light well (although I must admit I am far from an expert on how to do this anyway)
As far as dealing with HP, I'm quite pleased, they are fast and competitively priced.

Great Pics with Some Problems
I have owned this camera for over 3 years. Picture quality is amazing, particularly if you are into landscapes. True colors are obtainable in any light if you know how to adjust the manual tuning features. My main gripe is the periodic shutting down of the camera . It occasionally locks up with lens out or just turns itself off. When this happens you need to remove the batteries and replace or simply turn it back on. Lag time for shutter action from button push is too slow but average for this level of camera and price. Lithium batteries last a reasonable amount of time for this size of device. Re-chargeable batteries last about " 15 mintues" it seems.

peice of junk
I too got took on this one. Looked great, had lots of features. Got it for my birthday what a waste of money. I bet I didn't take 50 pictures with it before it died. I also bought all the extras that went along with it. Got a lot of money tied up in this camera and can't get hp to fix it or anything. All they wanted me to do was buy another hp camera and waste more money. HP can't make cameras they better stick to computers. If you buy one of these cameras it will work fine for a while then (bam) it's dead without warning. There may be a few out there still working. If so you are one of the lucky ones to have a working one. I will never buy an hp camera.

Loved it while I had it
I loved this camera as I too was reminded of my old 35 SLR. The HP945 took beautiful pictures and the zoom was great! I had this camera 3 years and couldn't even pretend to know how many pics it actually took. More than I could ever count. With that said, about 4 months ago the LCD began having lines in it which also came out the the pictures. IT was sudden. My huspand said it was "over use" LOL. Anyway, called HP which couldn't do anything about it as it was 3 years old. Did offer me a discount off a new, diffrent model of my choice. After reviewing the options I decided I was better off just looking into finding me something else. I chose the FujiS700. I was excited about this one too. But two months after I purchased it, the LCD stopped working, went black. As it was over 30 day's old, the place purchased wouldn't take it back so I sent it back to Fuji. At my cost. Anyway, I'm back to looking for another camera while waiting for the Fuji to be fixed. I should have stuck with HP.

HP camera
When I bought this camera I was looking for a decent MP digital camera with decent zoom. I didn't want one of those tiny camera's, I wanted something that I could firmly grip and not fear losing easily. This camera is hefty and suited my need in that way. After about 1 yr the battery door broke; it still locks into place, but it doesn't attach to the camera any longer. I haven't been terribly pleased with the long delay the camera has in taking pictures, often times I miss the shot due to the delay, and that's not using the digital feature, which adds even more time delay. Overall I've been happy with it, I get many compliments on my photos, but to be honest it's not that much better than our first digital camera which is a 3MP with 12zoom and still in use without any issues. I probably wouldn't buy this medel again.

Questions & Answers
Question : How to import photo's from HP E427 camera to iPhoto on Mac?
Right, here's the problem,
I have a Hewlett Packard E427 digital camera. I have no Hewlett Packard software. I'm trying to import photo's from the camera to iPhoto on my macbook.
When I connect the camera to the macbook using USB, iPhoto opens automatically but doesn't give me an (obvious) option to import the photo's.
According to Hewlett Packard, you do not have to use their software to import photo's.
What am I doing wrong? It's driving me crazy!
Thanks.
Answer:
Here a few problems I see:
1) Do you have the lastest update of iPhoto
2) Go do the side of your iPhoto and look for HPE427
3) If that doesnt show up, try it out on a friends Mac or Windows
4) If all fails get a SD card reader, their like $20 so it snot that big of a deal.

Question : Is the Hewlett Packard Photosmart M437 Digital Camera, 5.0MP a good camera?
Tell me some of the 'great' features of this camera. Like if you can make your pics black and white on the camera, and if it has options like that.
Answer:
Yes , but I prefer the PCWOrld magazine "best buy" ( price x technologie x megapixels ), the
HP Photosmart R927 ,8.2 megapixels ( $260.00 ) and HP Photosmart R967 , 10 megapixels. ( $280.00).
The Photosmart M437 is good but the difference bettween cameras are just $50 ( if your choice is Deluxe acessories kit ), or basic kit ( $140.00) .
The M437 has a range of shooting modes that provide predefined settings for everyday situations. They are optimized for particular types of scenes or shooting situations and include Beach and Snow,
-Landscape, Night portrait, and more.
-Record Video and Print Video stills.
-Built-in and Expandable Memory.
-In-camera Editing Features.
The other cameras features:
-3.0" LCD Display.
-Take Creative Control
-The Photosmart R927 Digital Camera has a complete range of exposure and scene options, including manual exposure, so you"ll be able to get exactly the image you want.
-HP Adaptive Lighting
This ground-breaking technology automatically adjusts high contrast photos to reveal the detail that would otherwise be lost in the shadows - ideal when you're shooting into the sun or using flash.
HP In-camera Red-eye Removal
Remove red-eye without having to transfer photos to your computer. This unique, easy-to-use tool automatically recognizes red-eye and lets you remove it immediately via your camera's LCD screen.
HP In-camera Panorama Stitching
Your camera stitches up to 5 photos together to create a single photo for easy printing.
And I like HP support.
good luck

Question : I want to get a digital camera for my girlfriend (under $250). Which one do you think? Your ideas?
She is artistic in many other ways but has never had a camera to get into photography. When she does take pictures (usually with her cell phone or disposable cameras) they come out BEAUTIFULLY. Neither of us knows much about cameras and while I don't really care to learn, she is so worried about picking the wrong one that she hasn't gotten anything.
I know, from things she has mentioned that she wants:
-Under $250
-Flash & 6+ MPixels
-She likes taking pix of things VERY close up (flowers, birds) AND/OR of city skylines/lights at night
-good zoom is VERY important to her
I have looked at the ones below but am not set on anything yet:
*Kodak EasyShare C875, 8 M.pix, 5x Opt./5x Dig. Zoom (our printer SUCKS so I was thinking prints would be easier, but she can always go to walgreens for prints)
*Hewlett-Packard Photosmart M627, 7 M.pix., 3x Op./8x Dig. Zoom
The more I look and compare, the more they all look EXACTLY THE SAME - so I don't want to look anymore.
IDEAS?
Another thing about what Im looking for is that it doesn't have to have video---she may use it if it was there but I don't think she would ever even notice if it wasn't
Answer:
I suggest viewing these two websites for some useful information...
NOTE: I have the HP M417 and it works very well and takes
some excellent pictures, so the 627 should be even better.

Question : What kind of cable do I need to download pictures from my digital camera?
I have a hewlett packard camera. It was given to me. I don't have anything that goes with it. So I don't know what I need to hook it up to the computer. It's a hp photosmart 320.
Answer:
Probably a usb or mini usb. Take it into Radio Shack - they'll hook you up.

Question : I'm looking for an instruction manuel for a hewlett packard camera. model 618?
have no instruction manuel for a model 618 hp digital camera. I'd like to find the web site where I could order one, the flash is not working. Not having the manuel, I can't find in the menu where the flash might be turned off.
Answer:
good luck. they never made an instruction manual so you'll be looking a long time. HP began outsourcing their camera manual writing at the time the 618 was produced. The first manual was written in Hindi and Farsi but not in English
(I assume you're an English speaker? ) By the time HP rectified the problem using their Farsi translation software the camera was already obsolete and defective. There has been a class action lawsuit filed in Hosuton Superior Court over this issue and the Judge is considering placing a moratorium and injunction on future HP products

Question : Is it true that realplayer version 10 can interfere with me sending pictures from my digital camera to my pc?
because i can no longer upload from my kodax easyshare cx7300 or my hewlett packard DSC 220 ? And does anyone know how i can get these working again please? i have tried installing the software again but it isnt having any of it?????? HELP.
Answer:
I haven't had any trouble with realplayer, mediaplayer or any other program and my digital pictures. I'd have a look for a virus first to see if this is upsetting your system - you'll have to reinstall if there are viruses abd they are removed - then i'd look at control panel, and admintration tools to see if your printer and digital camera are enabled.
