Great Cam!
I did a thorough research before I bought this cammera. For its price, I don't think you can ask for more. However, the picture can be a little bit grainy when viewed in full size (I'm not sure if this is the case for other cameras as well). One more thing, I can't find a way to view the recorded videos on my computer yet. I can transfer the videos from the SD card to my hard drive but can't view it. I can only hear the sound.
Edit 8/1/07: I am able to view the videos with Quicktime player. :)

Almost perfect
This is my second Fuji digital. My first one had a view finder. This one does not. I dont think anyone should buy a camera that doesnt have a view finder in my opinion. You just cant see the lcd screen in bright sunny conditions. I love Fuji picture quality. I like the size and the familiar functions. I just dont like that it doesnt have a viewfinder. No matter what brand I buy next, it will have a view finder.

Good Little Camera
This is the 3rd Fuji Finepix I have owned. I've never had any problems with any of them and the pictures are great. I compared this one to a Sony at the same price, and the Fuji won me over. The Fuji now has the image stabilization which helps as I get older and cannot hold the camera as steady as I used to. Great little camera for the amateur or professional.

Great Camera!
This is a great little camera. I wanted something small to carry to car shows, etc. It is small, easy to use, nice LCD and it takes great pictures.
I also purchased two more for my daughter and granddaughter. They both love it!

Very satisfied
This is my first digital camra. I use it specifically to photograph 2- dimensional and 3- dimensional art work. I have been very pleased with the quality of the photos. I also use it to photograph landscapes, although that is not the primary purpose of the camera for me. I have also been satisfied with it in that way. Sometimes I have had "spots" when photographing outside, but I think this is related to the light source. I am very pleased.

That Camera is ......
I bought this camera in march and by day 2 while turning it broke.... I had a whole problem with it.I dont recommend it when you have children because its really flimsy..... DONT BUY IT.

Incredibly reliable--i love this thing!
i've had this camera for little over half a year now, and i love it! i've been an on-and-off amateur photographer for about 5 years now, and this is my third camera, first digital. To those who complain about the "flimsy" chassis, i suggest you walk around with a solid, magnesium-cased samsung in your backpack for an afternoon. i guarantee that you and your lower back will appreciate the light plastic shell. and to those who complain about the battery life, BUY A PAIR OF RECHARGABLE BATTERIES! or better yet, buy two pairs; you'll still save money! overall, when paired with photoshop, this camera makes for one heck of a camera. i should know--it's picture quality and convience is the envy of all my friends who're stuck with 35mms! ::By the way, i forgot to mention the price, which is bargain-basement for such picture quality!::

good, basic, but dated
Nice, basic camera for a newbie or kid to get started with. These are no longer made, but there are still some new ones & plenty of used ones floating around out there.
BEWARE: Uses obsolete SmartMedia memory cards, which are difficult to find (unless you order online). Yet for all these cards' obsolesence, their prices haven't come down.
Don't pay more than $50 for a new A201, and make sure its memory card contains at least 16 MB of memory. That should allow one to get about 50 pictures out of it when it's @ default settings.
Disadvantages: no zoom function; steep learning curve if one has never used a digital camera before; must use rechargable batteries unless you want to spend a fortune on regular AA batteries; time it takes to green-light between shots is long -- not good if you're taking action shots.
Rating :
A great Camera
The A201 is very Good camera and I bought it with my own money( I am eight years old). It has satisfied me very well with its price. I am impressed with the quality and I would recomend it to anyone shopping for an entry-level good-quality bash-around camera. I have sent many e-mails using the easy-to-use FinePix Software that comes in the box with the USB (universal serial bus) connector. The software comes with automatic procedures such as saving in the "My Pictures" Folder that comes with every computer. The software comes with the Update and delteable folder called "100_fugi". The only dis is that the camera for some reason makes the target father than the Human eyebut other than that the camera is very good and toped my expectations. At first I thought of buying the Canon Powershot but the store manager at [a local store] gave me a better deal, the A201.

Fuji + Epson
As all of the previous reviewers have stated, the Fuji 4900 is an excellent camera. Coupled with the Epson Stylus Photo 1280, I have made excellent 16" x 20" prints that look as good or better as film prints. My Epson Stylus Photo 820 does an excellent job with 8" x 10" prints as well. The Fuji 4900 is just an excellent camera EXCEPT for the poor battery life. I got tired of the constant need to recharge the NP-80s ( I have 6) so I bought a PowerBank MH-DPB180M battery pack from J&R Electronics and no longer have that problem.

NOT 4.3 MP
I just wanted to let everyone interested in this camera to be aware of something. This camera uses a 2.45 Megapixel image sensor and interpolates that to create a 4.3 MP image. I thought it was worth noting since the FinePix s602 was put into the 3-3.9 megapixel category, even though it has the capability to produce a 6 megapixel image. Just wanted to pass along the info...

Great camera
This review is probably a few years late.
Fuji 4900 is great camera. Lots of different modes of operation, easy to switch different modes of flashes (auto, force on, force off, red eye, slow flashes). Impressive 6X optical zoom.
There is a adapter tube and clear UV filter lens at ebay.com, they are reasonably priced.
One note about batteries. Make sure you get batteries with > 2000 mA-hour. There are batteries that look the same, yet only has 1200 mA-hour, i.e. lasts half as long.
Rating :
Outstanding Image Quality
The image quality produced by this camera is spectacular. However, I think Fuji has some scope for improvement in terms of the user interface. I find setting the time and selecting the image quality to be a bit tedious.
Rating :
A really impressive camera
I don't claim to be all that knowledgable about cameras, films and photography, but for the uninitiated, this is as good a camera is you could possible need if you're anything like me. My 70 year old father, who'd not taken pictures in years, picked up the basics pretty quick.
The camera is old and a bit clunky for today's streamlined standards, but for someone like me it makes it harder to drop and the photos are as good as newer models (if not better).
The biggest grumble for me is the memory card. It takes SmartMedia cards which are smaller (memorywise) and more expensive.

Gets the job done ;-)
I bought this camera after my old camera broke down. I really didn't know what I wanted with my new camera but, I did know I wanted a digital and I wanted to be able to view the pic on both T.V. and PC. So I got this one & It's a good camera. Hold alot of pic and pics come out good. After playin with it, I now know that I wish it also have editing features. so I can edit the pics without having to download the pic on the PC first. I would be able to edit pic from the camera and go get then printed. Other than that-this camera is very good.

Good camera for taking eBay auction pics
Good camera for taking eBay auction pics
Decent picture quality / decent battery life / but some gripes are the cradle ( if included ) stopped recharging the battery, you can't just mainline the power cord to the camera to recharge the battery, you have to use the cradle.
The included 16MB card is good for about 8 high res shots, you definitely need to upgrade the card to a 512MB or better, BUT YOU CAN STILL ONLY SHOOT 60 SECONDS OF VIDEO at a time no matter how big the card is. This was disappointing since we expected to be able to shoot continuous video until the card is full
The anti red eye is hardly that, you'll still get red eyes when the camera triple flashes during a shot.
The menus are easy to figure out, the power switch is quite simple, just open the lens cap and lens zooms open.
Macro pics are decent, we use this camera to take close up shots for our eBay auctions and our sales have improved since.

Good not than I' ve imagine, but good
This camera is good not like i imagine, but the pictures are very good resolutions. The case and functionality to open and close, is so back, now day i think will be more modern.

2nd time buyer
I had one of these camera's and got it soaked fishing on a rainy day and ruined it. I liked the first one so since I had the docking station and memory cards already it was an easy decision at the price to buy another. It takes good pictures, is easy to operate, and downloads quick and easy. The only thing I can say I didn't care for is the time it takes to recycle to take another picture. Not terribly long but not rapid fire.

Bad Battery recharge.
I didn't have the problems that most people had with bad pictures. For the most part, my pictures came out surprisingly good. The only times they didn't was in low light situations and that's the norm for digital cameras. My problem was an on going problem with the batteries and the recharging. I have always had the low battery sign when I first use the A340. I'm sure it's in the Camera itself because new batteries don't even work. I looked at the battery area and I see signs of corrosion, but I use this camera about 2 times a month and I check the batteries religiously. I don't know what the problem is but I have noticed that I'm not the only one that has this problem. I have since bought a new Camera... Much better.

| Editorial Review :
The FinePix 4800 Zoom features the new Super CCD chip with 2.2 million effective pixels delivering an output resolution file of 4.3 megapixels. New improved signal processing means that the LSI interprets the CCD and digitizes the information to produce fabulous color images, which are sensitive to highlights and tones. Enhanced sensitivity of this Super CCD camera means that a flash is not always necessary, even in poor lighting conditions. The acute responsiveness of this model allows for greater detail to be achieved in your imagery, particularly with reference to shadows and stressed areas of light. The FinePix 4800 Zoom is also accompanied by the USB download cradle. The cradle has two main functions; it allows you to download your images at the touch of a button and also starts to automatically recharge the battery as soon as the camera is placed in the cradle. The FinePix 4800 Zoom has many attributes one of which is a Super EBC Fujinon 3x zoom lens, made up of six elements in six groups, maximizing the cameras ability to shoot a wider range of images. Its vast F2.8 aperture combining wide angle and telephoto capabilities enables coverage equivalent to 36-106mm range of a 35mm camera. The FinePix 4800 Zoom has a diversity of shooting modes from full auto featuring (self timer, voice captioning, scene position, and pixel/quality) to manual shooting mode (consisting of self timer, white balance, ISO sensitivity, pixel/quality, manual focus, sharpness, flash brightness, exposure compensation, multi exposure and exposure metering). In addition, the FinePix 4800 Zoom also has voice captioning capability, which can be attached to captured images. It can record up to 30 minutes of sound.

Questions & Answers
Question : Can you use a regular memory chip with a fuji camera?
So im gonna buy a Fuji digital camera,
and I already have a SanDisk memory chip.
Are they compatable with Fuji's?
Answer:
Most Fuji digital cameras use XD memory cards. However, some of them, Fuji FinePix S700 is one example, uses both XD and SD memory cards. So it really depends on the Fuji camera you are getting which card or cards you would need.
ps ... San Disk is a memory card company who makes SD, XD, and Memory Stick cards

Question : Can I fix my Fuji Finepix digital camera?
I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to fix a zoom problem with my Fuji Finepix A345. I've never even dropped it or gotten it wet but for some reason there is a problem with the lense. Often when I turn it on the lense won't come out all the way like it is stuck and makes noises. Then sometimes when it does come out it is blurry and when I try zooming it or focusing it it won't work.
Answer:
I'm sure you didn't do anything to it, but unfortunately, I doubt there is anything you can do to it to make it NOT have the error with the lens. It sounds like your lens will need to be replaced.....but there is always a possibility it may be jammed. However, in the camera repair shop I work in, this kind of problem is almost ALWAYS because the lens needs to be replaced. If it's still under warranty and you haven't dropped it or anything like that, I would send it in to Fuji directly. If it's out of the warranty, you'd be better off replacing it since repairs are around the cost of this camera when it was new. Hope that helps.

Question : what is the likely cost of sending a fuji digital camera to fuji for a minor repair?
what is the likely cost of sending a fuji digital camera to fuji for a minor repair?
Answer:
courier will be around $10. usually they will call you when they get your camera and determine what's wrong and tell you how much it costs. a "minor" repair could be under $100. you can call their customer service phone number and they might have an idea as to the cost.
I would shop around and get prices for new cameras so when they call you to tell you how much it is you'll know if it's better to buy a new one.

Question : I just purchased a Fuji digital camera F40FD. I was wondering if this is a good camera?
I just purchased a Fuji digital camera F40fd. I take pictures in low light and I understand that the Fuji cameras are good for low light photography. I noticed that the camera got warm after taking a couple of pictures also when the lense goes in and out of the camera it grinds a bit especially between the review mode and setting it back to picture mode. I was looking for a F31fd camera or a F45fd camera but could not find one anywhere. So I am wondering if I made the right choice buying the F40fd? I have a couple of days to make up my mind and then I can either exchange the camera or keep the camera. I do not know what to do.I already own a Fuji camera a A820 and the pictures are fairly decent on that camera. I just wanted to bascially up grade that camera because I wanted a smaller more compact camera that worked well in low light. Did I make the right choice?
Answer:
This is a discontinued model. I would recommend a Canon camera over Fuji. Depending on how much you spent on the camera, another choice would be the Canon SD1100 IS. The PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH features ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto settings that reduce the effects of camera shake and sharpen subjects in low-light situations, giving you greater shooting flexibility. It's small and compact, and the Elph series has been known for it's superior quality for years.

Question : Fuji digital camera is very cheap. Do I have any reasons not to buy it?
I just compared it with other brand with the same spec. Fuji is about 40-50% cheaper than other popular brands. Is it worse than others?
Answer:
They actualyl pretty good, Fujifilm camera to digital kinda late compare to other, but fujifilm was like the king in film camera. Fujifilm Digital camera has some of the very best camera sensor and great design. However it lack some friendly mode scene as other offer, but fuji does take very nice picture.
