Very good camera
I love this camera. It is small and compact. The LCD screen is clear. The quality of the photos is very good. I took a couple of photos a day, and the battery lasted me about a week, before recharging. It is so easy to use.

Two great years... then all downhill
I've had this camera for almost two years. When I first got this camera I noticed the red eye was quite significant. Turned on red eye reduction and everything was ok. After about 1 1/2 years with this camera, I found that the pictures started to have stripes running through them. In order to stop this from happening, I would have to turn off the camera and turn it back on and the pictures would be ok. Fully charged or now, this would happen after a few pictures were taken.
Most recently, at year 2, I took pictures on vacation all week. Came home and the camera said card read error. All of the pictures were gone. Both the camera and the memory card were Fuji. Still working to recover the pictures and determine the problem. Will not buy a fuji product again.

do yourself a favor, don't buy this camera!
I owned a Canon A60 for a number of years, which I loved. However last year I decided that I would like to upgrade to a sleeker, lighter camera with a larger screen, and more megapixels and decided on the F460. What a mistake! Although this camera has all of these attributes, it takes terrible pictures. Unless I am in the absolute brightest light my pictures are consistently out of focus... which completely negates the point of having a higher resolution camera. If you are shopping for a digital camera, get something that has the software to compensate for vibrations or movements while you are taking a picture. Otherwise everything will be out of focus (I guess unless you cart around a tri-pod, which also defeats the purpose of buying a light-weight camera.
Less than a year after purchasing this camera I am shopping for a new digital camera.

Great camera!
This is my first digital camera, I've had if for about 5 months and i just love it! The size is great, and the LCD screen is very large and clear for the size of the camera. It takes great pictures and is very easy to use. I've found that the battery lasts a really long time, and charges quickly. It takes videos which are of good quality also. I would recommend this camera to anyone. I can't even think of anything negative to say about it!

Not even good for a beginner
I'm not a photographer. I like to take quick snapshots of the kids, animals, etc. This camera couldn't even do that! It takes SO long to start up, and even longer to actually TAKE a picture. When trying to take a picture of a toddler it's impossible. It MIGHT be an okay camera is you're using it for inanimate objects, but I'm not even sure about that. And don't even try to take a picture in anything but perfect lighting. The pictures are unrecognizable.
My advice... by any other camera than this one. I can't imagine it would be any worse.

Today This Camera Meets My Hammer
I put fresh rechargable batteries into this camera Christmas Eve, then didn't use it. The next day, the red battery light was on when I tried the first photo. Of course, waiting for the camera to green light you for a photo takes at least 7 seconds -- no joke -- which burns battery and wastes many an opportunity. Even at lower resolutions, reload is a huge problem -- downloading the photos to disk to empty the card is no help. I took one photo at Christmas because I didn't bring spare batteries. If you didn't know better, you would think this camera was made at the dawn of digital technology, and you were the caveman that got suckered into buying it.
I rarely get a good photo out of this camera, and I used to enjoy a rep as the reliable family photographer -- no more. The zoom is useless as it moves by gigantic distances and can't be backed up in any smaller increment. It makes a noise like its moving, but I think it has two settings; close and closer -- nothing in between.
There is simply nothing about this camera worth your time. Its so painful to use, you never do and might as well not own a camera. Its also pretty massive and makes you look like a tourist ready to get robbed wherever you take it.

Rated 5 stars for Ebay pictures!
I've had this camera since 2004 - I have newer ones I use for important pictures, but you cannot beat this camera for taking Ebay auction pictures. It's even better than my new Panasonic TZ4 for auction listings.

SLOW,SLOWER, MISSED A SHOT, NO PICTURE TAKEN
Bought this camera at the recommendation of the service rep at Walmart for an inexpensive easy to use camera for my wife.
Only good for still shots, slow to start slower to reset 2nd picture missed a shot its so slow sometime never reset (Battery eater)thus no pictures at all Quality of picture is OK, but that only happens when you can actually take one. Horrible frustrating camera that both my wife and I hate to use - getting a new camera, just not a fuji

Older technology, but usable.
I have used my Fugifilm A210 for two years now, here are some observations. It is a much better camera than my first digital (1.3 MP Olympus). The 16 MB memory is not enough, but 1 GB memory can be had for $30. I have found that 256MB is plenty. It does take a while to store pictures and calculate focus and exposure, so I have lost oportunities for good shots because of this, but I have still captured crisp, colorful images. I recommend you always carry spare batteries, but at least AA batteries are cheap and can be found anywhere. My A210 has survived trips from the boundary waters (MN) to the summit of Mt. Fuji (Japan). All that said, today (March 2007) you can find many better cameras for about $100. I just placed an order for a Fujifilm V10 for $125. It promises to provide better performance in a pocket size package. If you don't mind carrying a bigger camera, my choice would be a Canon Rebel XP. This camera has fine optics and Canon's Digic II chip allows rapid fire shooting. For the street price of $575 this is a good value.

Awesome
Well, I purchased this camera while stationed in Kuwait, used it over there, and back in the states. Contrary to some peoples beliefs, this camera is the best camera I have had my grubby little paws on ever. Everything about this camera is great. The instruction manual is mildly lengthy, but if you want to use the camera at its fullest potential, reading it is a must. Great picture quality. I have printed out 8 x 10's and they look incredible, this also being used with a good printer. Outdoor shots, indoor shots, close up shots, backlighting; this camera does it all. It does seem to become mildly testy though when there is a low light situation and you aren't using a flash. It is very sensitive to movement then and 9 times out of 10 your picture will not come out probably as clear as you would like, which is why you are supposed to use the flash. Overall, great camera, and definitely worth the cash tossed down to acquire it.

Over a year old and still going
PROS: This camera has worked as anticipated. With all the buttons and the sliding lens cover, the manual does note that it is extremely sensitive to sand--not a beach camera.
The original battery is still working. I ordered a second one from [store] and it is already weaker than the original. Get original batteries, even if they cost more. The compact size is definitely a plus. Less conspicuous and it will even fit in a shirt pocket. (a little tightly) I think it's been dropped a few times with no noticable decrease in performance. I have a 64Mb and 128Mb in addition to the 16Mb card that was included with the camera and haven't run out of disk space on an outing yet--even on highest resolution. CONS: Due to the small lens size, pictures taken at closer ranges (4 feet or less) can be very slightly bowed, or bulge in the middle, as noted when a photo has lots of horizontal lines. This can distort portraits. Wish I could get closer to images

This is my second Fujifilm Digital camera
My first digital camera was of similar design (the Fujifilm MX 1700) and I wanted some more megapixels so I could print my better shots. I like the feeling of a heavy camera, so i once again turned to Fuji for my upgrade. They still make their camera's with a metal body, instead of cheap, flimsy plastic.
Since this camera is designed a lot like the previous one, I had no problems getting used to it. Half an hour after taking it out of the box, I was taking pictures in macro mode of flowers in my garden. My husband now has my old FujiFilm MX 1700 because it's a more simple camera, and I have the FujiFilm 4800 Zoom with all the goodies. I'm extremely pleased with the quality and design of these cameras, and I would recommend them to anyone.

Great quality pictures
I love this camera. I purchased it about a year ago, and it takes amazing high quality pictures. I get them printed out online, and nobody can tell whether they are digital pictures or not!

Excellent Camera!
I have found the FinePix 4800 to be a great deal for the money. I think the 4.3 Megapixel mode is useful, as for certain images, it does much to make up for the fact that JPEG compression loses image fidelity. In fact, based on my tests imaging point soures of light and sharp edges, the 4.3 megapixel mode is no worse than any other mode, provided the image is not underexposed or even the slightest bit out of focus. I think the combination of the software Fuji uses, and the fact that some detail is lost in any JPEG image contribute to this. So for that occasional shot that you might want to blow up (or that you might want to enlarge a part of later, but don't want risk missing the shot with a lower megapixel, narrow field-of-view mode), 4.3 megapixel mode has its uses. My only complaint is the shape. It is a bit akward to hold. If its length and width were inverted it would be easier.

I would give 0 stars if possible
I guarantee you will regret buying this camera if you do so. I have had the camera since it first came out (about a year ago). There are much fewer color options than other cameras produced at the same time and earlier than the F450. In fact, you basically have your choice of color or black & white. Although the pictures look normal once you upload them to your computer, on the LCD display they will look like a reddish haze. That's if you use the flash. Pictures are impossible to take without flash. They will be unusably blurry. Which means you will end up with red eye even when you're in a brightly lit place where you wouldn't normally need to use the flash. Less than a month after I bought it, the camera began "sticking". I turn it off and the zoom doesn't retract. So I have to turn it on and off again to be able to safely put it away. This camera was a huge mistake - Fujifilm's for making and selling it, and mine for buying it.

Great point and shoot
I have had this camera for almost three years now and have yet to have a problem with it. I've dropped it numerous times on cement even, and it's still fine!! It's really sturdy, adorable, and fits in my pocket or purse easily. I carry it with me 24/7 cuz I am a picture freak, and I hate carrying my bulky SLR. The reviews below surprised me, because compared to everyone I know who has point and shoots, this one seems to be the best. I always get compliments on my photos and people are always surprised that's it's just a little tiny camera. They also love the size. My friends always want to use my camera for photos because they come out looking more professional than other point and shoots do. I've taken headshots for people on it and senior photos, that can be enlarged to 8X10 and look fine. The portrait setting is the best feature, so I pretty much leave it on that. The landscape one, meh, I agree that when you don't use the flash in a darker setting the photos do come out blurry most of the time. It has a couple ISO settings that I fool around with though depending on the ligh, so I don't usually have a problem. I don't like the night setting and prefer to just use no flash, once again, adjusting the ISO, occassionally the blur has made for some really cool shots. Seriously, this is my favorite camera I have owned so far.

Questions & Answers
Question : I just purchased a Fuji digital camera F40FD. I was wondering if this is a good camera?
I just purchased a Fuji digital camera F40fd. I take pictures in low light and I understand that the Fuji cameras are good for low light photography. I noticed that the camera got warm after taking a couple of pictures also when the lense goes in and out of the camera it grinds a bit especially between the review mode and setting it back to picture mode. I was looking for a F31fd camera or a F45fd camera but could not find one anywhere. So I am wondering if I made the right choice buying the F40fd? I have a couple of days to make up my mind and then I can either exchange the camera or keep the camera. I do not know what to do.I already own a Fuji camera a A820 and the pictures are fairly decent on that camera. I just wanted to bascially up grade that camera because I wanted a smaller more compact camera that worked well in low light. Did I make the right choice?
Answer:
This is a discontinued model. I would recommend a Canon camera over Fuji. Depending on how much you spent on the camera, another choice would be the Canon SD1100 IS. The PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH features ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto settings that reduce the effects of camera shake and sharpen subjects in low-light situations, giving you greater shooting flexibility. It's small and compact, and the Elph series has been known for it's superior quality for years.

Question : what is the likely cost of sending a fuji digital camera to fuji for a minor repair?
what is the likely cost of sending a fuji digital camera to fuji for a minor repair?
Answer:
courier will be around $10. usually they will call you when they get your camera and determine what's wrong and tell you how much it costs. a "minor" repair could be under $100. you can call their customer service phone number and they might have an idea as to the cost.
I would shop around and get prices for new cameras so when they call you to tell you how much it is you'll know if it's better to buy a new one.

Question : Fuji digital camera is very cheap. Do I have any reasons not to buy it?
I just compared it with other brand with the same spec. Fuji is about 40-50% cheaper than other popular brands. Is it worse than others?
Answer:
They actualyl pretty good, Fujifilm camera to digital kinda late compare to other, but fujifilm was like the king in film camera. Fujifilm Digital camera has some of the very best camera sensor and great design. However it lack some friendly mode scene as other offer, but fuji does take very nice picture.
