Terrible Customer Service!!!
The camera is fine as long as nothing goes wrong. Fuji has the worst customer service I have ever delt with. They pass you from one person to another and do everything they can not to help you. Be prepared to deal with the worst customer service in the business. I really hope this helps you.

beware the zoom error
I have had this camera for over 2 years and have LOVED the photo quality and ease of use. The camera is very quick, takes great macro shots and doesn't eat up (rechargeable) batteries.
That being said, 2 days ago it started overexposing my pictures. Then it locked up completely. I was able to get my pictures downloaded off of it, but, after reading other online reviews (especially of Fuji's poor customer service and the persistance of this problem with Fuji cameras) I am now shopping around for a new camera. I will not be buying another Fuji, which is too bad, because I really did love it while it worked.

I love this camera!
I am so in love with this camera, it served me well for 3 years until my toddler destroyed it. I now have the dilemma of finding a new camera I will love as much. It was so easy to use, took sharp beautifully colored photos, preformed outstanding in low light situations, I had no problem printing large photos without any graininess. I'm tempted to just buy the same camera, but in 3 years I am assuming there have been major improvements and I can find something even better. I hope!

Great for the price!
This camera has served me well over the last few years. There are a few things that you need to be aware of however. The first thing is that the flash has a delay. You have to wait for it to recharge in between each picture if you are using the flash and that can take at least 6-8 seconds. Taking pictures of children can be challenging if you are using the flash! With that said, the camera has been great. It is very simple to learn!

impressive for a 1st digital camera
I bought this camera brand new in late 2003 to become more "modern". I didn't really need a digital camera, but I wanted one. Now, more than 4 years later I have thousands of pictures on my PC that are priceless. The camera finally died 2 months ago and I've replaced it with a 10 MP Nikon Coolpix. Although this camera is now considered bulky by today's standards, and the LCD screen is now considered tiny (1.5") I can't just toss this camera away. It's served me very well the last few years, so I guess it'll just take up drawer space. It's taken excellent pictures, but it took a little getting used to. To focus on anything, you have to press the button down "half-way". Try saying that to someone who's not used to digital cameras. Most of the blurry pictures occured because of that. Want to take pictures of your kids playing sports? Faggedaboutit! Action shots come out blurry. Not enough light? You'll get grainy pics. Like to take videos? Hope you do it in bright sunlight and don't need sound. All-in-all this camera has gained my respect and takes great pictures under ideal conditions. A perfect starter camera.

great value for the money
This camera takes pretty decent pictures for it's resolution and pricepoint. The included software is also good. Definitely get a larger memory card & the rechargable batteries, though; it sucks up lots of memory for higher-quality pictures and the batteries don't last as long because of that.
I love the super-zoom feature on it, that you can override the 3x zoom by continuing to press on the zoom.

Battery Eater - Poor indoor pics
I bought my camera several years ago at Wal-Mart and I have to say I have never really liked it. It eats batteries like crazy, even the rechargable ones. The only battery I have found to not go dead within two to three photos is Duracel. Also, the quality of photos is not that great, especially indoors. I took this camera with me to Amarillo, Texas and I finally gave up trying to take photos with it and bought a throw-away camera which worked fine. I am currently shopping for a new digital camera and have given this one away as it wasn't worth selling.

Great for 2.0 Megapixel. Also for a beginner.
I bought this camera oddly enough, on ebay. I did not need a 5 or 7 megapixel camera. I just wanted to get rid of my film cameras. So I bought it and it works just fine. Has .3, 1 and 2 megapixel modes. Works fine for my use and I don't need to spend a lot of money just for a higher megapixel camera.

MY REFLECTIONS
THIS FUJI FINEPIX 2800 2MP ALLOWED ME TO CAPTURE SOME VERY VIVID PICTURES. THIS CAMERA HAS THE CLEARITY OF A HOT HUMID DAY IN JUNE. THE BRIGHTNESS,SHAPNESS,QUICKNESS OF THIS CAMERA IS UNBELIEVEABLE. AND ITS LIGHT-WEIGHT. BEST CAMERA. MAY I TAKE YOUR PIC? LOL

Wow, what a great Camera
This is indeed a wonderful camera. I have had mine now 3 years and it is still going strong. I have even decided to stay in the Fuji Line and get the S9100 which comes out this month. So when I have the money, I will be one click away form another great camera. My Dad has a Nikon and it is a 4MP and the Fuji takes way better pictures, quality and all. The only down fall on the camera, is taking photos in low light situations, it is difficult to see what you want to capture, but when you snap and look at it, wow, it is a whole new world, the photo is clear, crisp and so bright. I have taken wedding photos and get some great close up shots with the zoom, so much so the bride and groom are usually amazed with the quality and how great the Zoom works. Because if how amazed people usually are with the shots, I have started to give photos on a CD as a wedding gift, and guess what, it is a hit, everyone loves it, and I at times capture what the photographer that they hired missed. Also with this little beast of a camera, persons have asked me to take photos and they will pay me, yes for this 2 MP camera. Macros work great for the close ups and the flash is excellent. If you buy this camera, you will be quickly amazed at how great it is and is worth every penny.

Don't buy this camera
I picked out this camera quite awhile ago to be my christmas present from my parents. From the get go I disliked the way it handled. It works well, as any camera can with lots of light on still objects. But that is no feat because white balance and lag time are inconsequential with something that has all day. This camera sucked for any type of candid shooting. The time between pressing the button and getting a picture was long enough to ensure that any desired facial expression or pose was either completely altered or not even in the frame. Also, in low levels of light, taking a photo was mere guesswork because the screen would be completely black. For a vast majority of the shots the flash had to be enabled because otherwise the photos would be extremely blurry. The problem however, is that flash makes harsh unnatural ugly color composition photos. Basically I hated it. I bought myself an Olympus Stylus 710 recently and love it dearly. That is a camera that can preform in a variety of differnt situations and lights.

Good Camera - except low light and action
this is a very very good camera. it's great zoom is very very useful. Voice commenting is also a great feature. Good quality pictures and movies also make this camera great. I will soon get a link and i think the webcam function will great. There is only four problems. 1. In low light the screens are black, in general you can guess but it still is annoying 2. There is no mode for capturing action, which makes it blurry 3. Similar to problem two, the camera has quite a delay before a picture is taken. 4. This problem hasn't happened to my camera but it has happened to others, zoom error. It makes me kind of nervous it will happen to mine. In general if you want a cheap camera with good picures, good zoom, and some cool functions this is for you. But if you want to take a lot of action pictures or night pictures check out another camera.

Zoom Error is a major flaw
I have had the infamous Zoom Error. This is a major flaw and my camera does not work anymore.
Do not think I will buy another fuji for this reason unless the customer service really helps me out. I doubt that will happen based on the other posts.

The Finepix S8000FD Digital Camera appears more as an SLR than a compact camera. It isn't an SLR because, primarily, you can't change lenses. Why would you need to? The Fujinon 18x Optical Zoom provides unprecedented flexibility in a digital-camera. With a 27mm-486mm equivalent, the need for additional zoom or wide angle lenses is gone - this extraordinary lens is all you need. A new feature found on Fuji cameras is the ability to use 3 memory card formats for wider universality. It also uses AA batteries as a power source. AA is readily available around the world. Where ever you travel, that battery type is likely to be available, With audofocus and auto-exposure, it's among the easiest cameras to use. Dual I(mage Stabilization assures sharpness despite unsteady hand movements. Face Detection helps determine proper exposure of people pictures. Ultimately, it's a serious camera for those that want to excercise creativity and freedom in taking great still pictures and movies. It's also lots of fun! Normal and macro focus 2.5 LCD high resolution 230,000 pixels and Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) Mode Dial for easy access of features Up to ISO 1600 at full resolution, up to ISO 6400 at 50% resolution 4xAA Battery Power for convenience xD / SD / SDHC Media Compatible Slot NTSC and PAL video output / USB On-camera edit modes Self-timer - Approx. 10 sec./2 sec.delay Unit Dimensions - 111.3(W)x78.2(H)x78.9(D) mm/ 4.4(W)? 3.1(H)? 3.1(D) in.(excluding accessories and attachments); Weight Approx.412g/14.5oz Comes with 4xAA type Alkaline batteries; Shoulder Strap; Lens cap & cord; USB cable; A/V cable; CD-ROM - FinePix Viewer software; Owner's Manual Windows PC and Macintosh compatible

FUJIFILM DIGITAL CAMERA
IT FINALLY ARRIVED AND WAS FINE. IT TOOK A LONG TIME AND A LOT OF CALLS TO GET IT HERE.

So far so good
So far I am impressed with this camera. My first real test was a few days after I got it I went to an indoor circus. There was very low light conditions and the camera seemed to do well. Granted I have to learn to adjust some settings to perfect my picture taking but I was impressed with the camera on a first time using basis. I am looking forward to other events to test this camera out.
Rating :
Very good if you're willing to play with the settings
I've owned this camera for about a month now, and am generally very happy with my purchase - especially given the price I paid for it, which was $290. Of course, nothing in life is perfect - there are a few things I'm not too thrilled about. I'm really only a learner with respect to photography, so professionals and experienced amateurs may not find my opinions too useful.
Things I really like:
The zoom - This is really amazing, and I don;t think you can get much better than this in a compact camera. I've been able to get really good close up shots of distant subjects. The problem of course is camera shake - if possible, use a tripod; if not, try to stabilise yourself in whatever way you can. I prefer to use the electronic viewfinder when using high zoom - I find it helps to stabilise the camera. Also, take many attempts at your zoom shots - without a tripod, many will be blurred, but you might get a few that are good.
The continuous shooting mode - I love this.... In this mode, you can take a series of shots of moving action, in a matter of a couple of seconds, just by holding the button down - excellent for sports. The problem with this is that when you review your pictures, you lose this setting, and have to go through the menu again to set it for continuous shooting. Also, it takes a few seconds after you finish a series of shots to save the pics, so you can't take any more shots in that time.
The natural light mode - I love the way this mode keeps the colour and produces high quality pics. It's particularly designed, I think, for less than ideal lighting conditions, but I find it works well in bright light too. In lower light, of course, there is the possibility of blur if your subject or the camera moves. That said, I think I take most of my pics in this setting.
Macro and Super-Macro modes - I get amazing close up shots with these modes!!! Possibly the camera's best feature!
The range of settings and modes - There are so many different things you can do with this camera that are so much more versatile than the basic compact camera (though I guess this is true of most cameras of this sort). Changing the ISO, colour saturation, white balance, different flash settings, etc, etc. I find myself shooting the same scene over and over in different settings to find which is the best. As a result I take A LOT of pictures.... But it's all fun! And I usually end up with some really good shots.
Things I really DON'T like:
The software - the Fuji software is slow, and takes up all my computer's processing power. Perhaps with a better computer this wouldn;t be a problem, but my computer does everything else I need to do as fast as I want it to... But running this software means I can't do anything else at the same time, and it takes ages to do anything. I've taken to using Picasa to edit my pics instead. On the plus side, the software saves the info on the settings used in taking the picture, so you can review your pics and work out what you;ve done wrong and what works best.
The menus - I find the menus to be rather complex and not particularly intuitive. This means when I want to try certain things, I have to spend a fair amount of time searching for the function I want. I guess as I get accustomed to the camera, though, this will be less of a problem.
Limited exposure time - the maximum length of exposure seems to be 4 seconds. I find this kind of limiting - with my old camera (Kodak DX7440 - a very decent camera in my opinion) - I could get exposure times up to about half a minute, and maybe more. I'm rather disappointed at this, though of course, the camera still takes very good night time shots.
Things I am having some difficulty/problems with:
Low light conditions, moving subjects, especially in combination with the zoom. I think this is probably the most difficult sort of shot I've tried to take. I find that I get some combination of underexposed, blurred, grainy shots, no matter what settings I use. If the subject is stationary it's not a problem - I use the night settings, and get very good results. This is something I am working on... Of course, if you WANT to get blurred shots, using the night setting can produce some interesting effects.
I've recently found that the electronic viewfinder sometimes goes a bit funny... I get white streaks across the image from one side, and sometimes the image is shifted a bit to the side too. This seems to happen particularly when I've been using the camera continuously for a longish while - like an hour or so. Switching off and then on again fixes it temporarily, but it tends to come back after a few minutes. It doesn;t seem to happen with the LCD, and I don;t think it's been affecting the quality of the pictures, so I think it's a problem with the viewfinder itself. I've been wondering if this might be caused by the camera getting a bit warm... Around the battery compartment does tend to warm up a bit after extensive use.
In general, also, I'd say I'm not thrilled by the quality of the image in the viewfinder, either. It tends to have a bit of a lined effect anyway, and the colours are sometimes off (reds often appear sort of magenta), but these effects are, again, only in the viewfinder, and don;t appear in the pictures. Despite this, I still prefer to use the viewfinder than the LCD for framing my shots.
On the whole, though, I am extremely happy with this purchase. I think I got excellent value for money, my photos have improved tremendously, and I am having a lot of fun and learning a lot about the art of photography. The problems are really minor compared to the things I love about it.
Some recommendations: buy a camera case, spare batteries and charger, and a fairly large memory card. And a tripod! And most of all, don't treat this like a "point and shoot". Use the wide range of settings to get the best results.
Rating :
Not quite what I expected
The way I test the quality of a digital camera is to view its photographs on a computer at 100 percent. (After all, what good is a 8 megapixel camera if one could merely zoom the pictures from a 4 megapixel camera to 200 percent and get the same quality.) I find that my new Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd takes grainy (blurry) pictures. I took a number of pictures, all using a tripod for stabilization, and they all turned out grainy. (I used the Auto function to allow the camera to choose the "best" setting.)
The camera is light, but that is because where most quality camera manufactures use metal (usually an aluminum alloy) in the barrel (zoom lens) of the camera, Fujifilm uses plastic. And the plastic lens has around 125 thousandths movement from side to side when extended.
Fuji used to mean quality. I've owned several over the years, starting with the one I bought while serving in Vietnam. I wonder if Fujifilm is the same company. If so, the company seems to have lessened their standards.
Too bad a person couldn't "try before you buy," like some software manufactures offer.
Rating :
Excellent value
I specifically looked for a Fuji camera when I wanted to upgrade. My experience with their customer service (after my daughter broke her camera) was one of the best experiences I've ever had - and sold me on Fuji as a company. That said, I still wondered how the product itself would perform. After putting it through its paces, I am very pleased with both the feel of the camera, the quality of the pictures, the great range of the zoom, the ease of use and the comments of others who can't believe that it didn't cost much more!

Questions & Answers
Question : Can you use a regular memory chip with a fuji camera?
So im gonna buy a Fuji digital camera,
and I already have a SanDisk memory chip.
Are they compatable with Fuji's?
Answer:
Most Fuji digital cameras use XD memory cards. However, some of them, Fuji FinePix S700 is one example, uses both XD and SD memory cards. So it really depends on the Fuji camera you are getting which card or cards you would need.
ps ... San Disk is a memory card company who makes SD, XD, and Memory Stick cards

Question : Anyone know of a great Olympus or Fuji point-and-shoot digital camera?
I'm looking for details here... I have lots of xD memory and my camera has gone belly up... anyone have feedback on current Olympus or Fuji digital cameras?
Answer:
Between those two brands...sorry, but Olympus is a brand I would never consider (due to it's so-so photo quality).
The Fujifilm Finepix F30, however, is a compact point & shoot camera that performs extremely well in low light (high ISO, handheld, no flash). No other compact can compete with it in this area. I would buy it for that capability alone.
So, if you want a compact camera particularly for low light situations, then it's the one to get. It also has great battery life of up to 580 shots.
The newer, F31 fd, is a minor update but hasn't been reviewed as yet.
But, if you ever decide to invest in SD memory, then have a look at Canon ;-)

Question : I just purchased a Fuji digital camera F40FD. I was wondering if this is a good camera?
I just purchased a Fuji digital camera F40fd. I take pictures in low light and I understand that the Fuji cameras are good for low light photography. I noticed that the camera got warm after taking a couple of pictures also when the lense goes in and out of the camera it grinds a bit especially between the review mode and setting it back to picture mode. I was looking for a F31fd camera or a F45fd camera but could not find one anywhere. So I am wondering if I made the right choice buying the F40fd? I have a couple of days to make up my mind and then I can either exchange the camera or keep the camera. I do not know what to do.I already own a Fuji camera a A820 and the pictures are fairly decent on that camera. I just wanted to bascially up grade that camera because I wanted a smaller more compact camera that worked well in low light. Did I make the right choice?
Answer:
This is a discontinued model. I would recommend a Canon camera over Fuji. Depending on how much you spent on the camera, another choice would be the Canon SD1100 IS. The PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH features ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto settings that reduce the effects of camera shake and sharpen subjects in low-light situations, giving you greater shooting flexibility. It's small and compact, and the Elph series has been known for it's superior quality for years.

i am interested in purchasing the Fujifilm FinePix Z10fd 7.2-Megapixel Digital Camera-pink. Is anybody aware of what sort of battery it uses?? And is it a good camera? Any problems?

Question : Fuji Digital Camera Not Working and can't afford to fix it?
Something happened to my Fuji A400 FinePix camera where the lens wont retract and it says "Focus Error" - a shop wants $150 to repair, almost as much as the camera is worth. I cant afford to fix it or buy a new one. I've lost my receipt to service it under warranty and it cant be located via Best Buy. Can a Focus Error be fixed? Any advice?
Answer:
I would contact Fuji service. They should fix it for free, or very cheaply. If you provide the serial number, they will know if it's under warranty probably.
You can buy good new cameras for under $150 so repairing an old camera is probably a bad choice.
A possibility is to see if Fuji has an updated BIOS for the camera. If so, download and install it, that might fix the problem.

Question : Fuji digital camera is very cheap. Do I have any reasons not to buy it?
I just compared it with other brand with the same spec. Fuji is about 40-50% cheaper than other popular brands. Is it worse than others?
Answer:
They actualyl pretty good, Fujifilm camera to digital kinda late compare to other, but fujifilm was like the king in film camera. Fujifilm Digital camera has some of the very best camera sensor and great design. However it lack some friendly mode scene as other offer, but fuji does take very nice picture.

Question : what is the likely cost of sending a fuji digital camera to fuji for a minor repair?
what is the likely cost of sending a fuji digital camera to fuji for a minor repair?
Answer:
courier will be around $10. usually they will call you when they get your camera and determine what's wrong and tell you how much it costs. a "minor" repair could be under $100. you can call their customer service phone number and they might have an idea as to the cost.
I would shop around and get prices for new cameras so when they call you to tell you how much it is you'll know if it's better to buy a new one.
