Warning to Exilim owners!! READ ON...

I had my camer for about a year. It went to Hawaii twice with me and I thought it was the best 400 dollars I had spent!
Little did I know that these cameras are.. well, defective. Suddenly one day, my zoom wouldn't work. Then I realized my menu buttons didn't work. THEN I realized that the only button that DID work was the button to take a picture (which it still does). After doing more intense research, I found out that A LOT of people were having the SAME problem. I called Casio and they wanted a ridiculous amout to just look at it, let alone FIX IT!
So the deal is, these cameras have one cord that controlls most of the functions such as the menu and zoom buttons. If that cord gets rattled a little, it no longer works. SO you will then be stuck with a 10.1 MP basically disposable camera (as they can not zoom or adjust settings either).
However, I must say that my next camera WILL be a Casio, but this particular model.... I'm not too sure.
Hope my review helps.

Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 10.1MP Digital Camera

I have been looking for a 10 MP digital camera for a while. A month ago I decided to go to Amazon.com to check what cameras they got. I was looking for a digital camera that I can aim & shoot! This camera does that and more! The pictures are gorgeous!! I am glad I got this one! It's very easy to use specially if you are not familiarize with digital cameras. I had taken pictures with no background light and they had come out awesome! This is a a nice digital camera & the price is even better! This is a great buy!

Not Great.

I have owned the Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 for a long while now, and am not really satisfied. I'll list the pros and cons below:

Pros:

It looks nice. (The outward appearance is very stylish and smart looking)
It has a large screen.
It takes decent movies.
The rechargeable battery is pretty easy to recharge.

Cons:

The pictures are blurry. My husband and I have both messed with the settings constantly to try to make the pictures not blurry. With a tripod, this camera works fine, but almost anytime you are holding it they turn out blurry.

The manual doesn't tell you anything about this camera... NOTHING.

Auto shake on/off doesn't work (...again blurry pictures)

I can't even figure out (and believe me I have tried) to adjust aperture or shutter speed. The only thing it lets me change is ISO. Lame.

There is delay between when you press the button and the camera takes the picture. (Fine for nature photography, but really bad for people or pets)

All in all this camera is o.k. Like i said before, I have owned it for a long time and it is still working, so that is good. I take good care of it, and it seems to be alright. One of the reasons I bought it in the first place was because I saw that it had 10.1 mega pixels, but so you don't make the same mistake I made, it turns out that that just basically means it takes very, very large poster size pictures. (You can change the setting to take smaller ones, though) The quality isn't any better because of it. I thought 10.1 mega pixels = better pictures. Nope.(Unless you plan on blowing all your pictures up to an enormous size.)

Overall, I would not recommend this camera to family and friends.

An Excellent (Exilim) Camera

For its price, this is a OK camera. What brings my rating up is the huge selection of shooting modes, the video editing, the audio, and several other features. First off: The shooting modes. This camera is a classic Casio in that it has many shooting modes (Best Shot). It has a setting for low light (candles), for fireworks, for flowers (close-up/macro), for pets, for portraits, for eBay, and many other things. The video editing is an innovative feature that allows you to cut the middle, beginning or end of ANY video more than about 5 seconds long. The audio clips are also a great thing to have (although I can't compare this to other cameras). Other good things are high-speed shutter mode that allows you to hold down the button to take several pictures per second; this lets you get the perfect picture of a basketball dunk or of your pet. The camera can also record a clip of sound to accompany a picture when you look at it. Additionally, you can zoom in 8x (without getting grainy) on any picture you have taken. It also, of course, has a timer so you can include everyone in the picture. The only thing I think this camera is missing is the ability to hold the shutter open to take pictures of cars' lights as they move. Lastly, I would think twice before purchasing this particular camera, as Casio recently came out with a camera that functions the same and has 10.1 MP, but is half as thick (and has a youtube shooting mode).

blurry pictures, or just me?

My boyfriend bought this camera for me for my birthday a few months ago because I love the color pink. I also have a Canon Powershot SD400 that works perfectly, but it has been marked and scratched from using it so much over the past 2 years. As a big pictures girl, I decided that having 2 cameras couldn't be bad! But, I am very disappointed with the Casio. It's supercute, but I find myself using my Canon MUCH more because the pictures turn out much better. Almost all of my pictures with the Casio are blurry - even if I hold the camera super-steady for set it on a flat surface and use the self-timer. I have played around with the settings, and High Sensitivity seems to produce the best shots, but not even comparable to the pictures I get with my Canon. As previous reviews have stated, the Casio manual is vague and pretty much useless... am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions would be helpful, because I know my boyfriend paid a pretty penny for this camera, and it's definitely not getting its worth just sitting on my desk...

The EX-Z700's Super Bright LCD is both big and bright. The 2.7-inch screen with 1200cd/m brightness is easy to see, even on a sunny day. At 7.2 megapixels, the high-performance EX-Z700 ensures crystal-clear image output for both printing and screen, delivering extraordinary photographic detail. Handiest camera yet

The EXILIM-Z700 7MP is the handiest digital camera I've used yet. The large viewing screen is bright enough that I've never "blacked out" on a sunny day. This is especially important because there is no optical view finder. The controls are well placed and easy to operate, even with large hands (like mine). The 7.2 MP make for a great picture. Another nice feature is the recharging stand/viewer/downloader. Instead of laying the camera down while wires come out of it, this stand holds the camera at a convenient viewing angle for looking through the contents. The battery has a nice capacity so it does not need repeated charges.
The only downside is one of shape. It's so small, thin and light it's easy to lose out of a pocket. That's more the fault of the operator than the camera.

Great purchase for price.

I'm not a pro and like the point and shoot cameras. Everyone has commented on how well my photos have turned out. Outdoor shots turn out particularly well. I also really enjoy the video option. The high quality creates files too large to email and I'm still working on how to convert them to smaller files. The lowest quality video is decent for e-mail but you can't use the zoom or the picture completely degrades. I love the small size, best shot options and large, bright lcd screen. This camera would be great for someone looking to get more interested in and learn more about photography and uploading/emailing to web sites and friends. There are a number of manual settings to play with too. So far, no real complaints. I'm your average Joe photographer but I've been very happy with the quality/colors of photos and videos with this camera. And it's really cute!

Great deal for the $$$

No complaints! Large viewing area, uses & supports most SD cards. Battery life isn't bad either. The only "con" would be that tight/close shots are almost impossible (like 8-12") very blurry. But besides that it'll make ya smile without saying "cheeeeeeese"!

...with excellent battery life. very good at recording video, extremely pleasant image quality in still camera mode. the only feature lacking is the ability to adjust exposure time. but other than that it works wonderfully and i quite like mine.

Good for Outdoors, Lousy for Indoors

Overall, this has been a decent camera for me. It takes great outdoor pictures, and even though I've dropped it several times, it has never broken.

My main complaint for this camera is that when it takes a picture indoors, everyone's faces come out extremely shiny. I'm talking about people glowing- and not in a good way.

I'm not a camera expert, but none of my other friends who have basic digital cameras have this problem. I guess if you rarely take pictures of people inside then this would be a good camera, but I would not recommend it for indoor use.

Digital Camera

I love this camera. This is my third, becasue they have either been stolen or broken. Don't drop it because it is very fragile ( I work with kids, so they are always getting their hands on it). But the pic quality is great. I love it!

Questions & Answers
Question : can I charge casio digital camera with li-ions batteries i bought here in europe?
america and europe have different standarts in electricity, europe has 220 volts. i'm afraid i'll need to buy a transformator for charging my camera in europe, but i really don't know. model of camera is casio exilirim p505.

Answer:
Most Casios sold in recent years, including yours, will charge with the U.S. standard 110-120 volts OR with the European 220-240 volts. Just to be certain, look at the charger. There should be specs regarding the voltage it will handle. If it says 220-240, you're in business. All you'll need is an adapter to be able to use the European outlets. Radio Shack and other electronics and camera stores sell them. They're not expensive. Be sure to tell them where you're going because there are a couple of different plugs. The UK is different from most of the countries on the continent, for example. Some stores sell a kit that will fix you up for all of the common outlets. That should be it. Have a good trip!

Question : Which one is better, a Casio Digital Camera or a Cannon one?
I am trying to decide on which digital to buy. Which one is better brand or is better item? I looked on amazon.com for a Casio EX-Z60 silver and black (is the color the only difference?) 6MP (http://www.amazon.com/Casio-Exilim-EX-Z60-Digital-Optical/dp/B000EIZJ7M/ref=pd_ys_qtk_rvi_img/105-1954375-7491603) and Cannon PowerShot SD-600 6MP (http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B000EMWBT2/ref=pd_ys_qtk_rvi_img/105-1954375-7491603). Which one is better and more reliable? Please I am open to suggestions. Would you recommend any other brand and model? I am looking for something compact, small in size and that can be taken any where.

Answer:
I would recommend the Canon. I have the SD700 IS and it's a fantastic little camera. I'm sure you would be very happy if you bought a Canon. Here is a quote from a review of the Casio EX-Z60... "A nifty ultracompact undermined by poor photo quality, the Casio Exilim EX-Z60 isn't your best choice.""Casio's Exilim EX-Z60 makes a better fashion accessory than a camera. If you're looking for style and photographic substance in the same price range, I suggest you check out Canon's SD series"

Question : Does anyone know where I can find a new usb cable for my Casio Exilim EXZ75 digital camera?
I recently lost the usb cable for my Casio Exilim EXZ75 digital camera. Someone told me to get a card reader. Does a card reader work the same way? Which is better an usb cable or card reader?

Answer:
The USB cable applicable to your camera is proprietary. You can search the internet to find it, but contacting Casio is the easiest. Expect to pay $40+ for a new cable. Even better, just grab a card reader. It does almost everything. In terms of transferring photos, it works better (they're faster). If you want the advanced software upgrade features, or want to download images from the internal memory then you will need the cable. Note that software updates are not recommended to be taken on my novices and internal memory images can be copied to a memory card in the camera. Where to find a card reader? Well your computer might already have it. HP/Compaq has had them for a while on many models. If your computer has it, it will be on the front of your computer and one will be markes SD. If your computer doesn't have it, buy one. They start at around $15 at local stores and can be as low as $2 on http://dealextreme.com (expect to wait 4-6weeks for shipping and questionable quality). You want an SD card reader, but a multi-reader can't hurt. It'll plug into any USB port.

Question : is there a way with a Exilim Casio digital camera you can copy your movie clips to a disk?
is there a way with a Exilim Casio digital camera you can copy your movie clips to a disk? It is an Exilim CASIO red digital camera that runs on a re-chargeable lithium battery. If you need more details or a picture go to this link: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Casio-EX-Z75RD-Digital-Camera-Red/sem/rpsm/oid/174311/catOid/-16941/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do so is there a way that i could copy some of my short movies that i made on my camera and copy them to a cd or dvd disk so that i could give it to a friend or something? thanks!! (: hayley1125@yahoo.com

Answer:
It works like any other camera except most models come with a neat little docking cradle - but it works the same as a cable. Transfer the movies to your PC hard drive and from there burn a cd data disc or DVD data disc. Your other option would be to remove the memory card and insert it into a reader conected to your PC to transfer the movies. Either way, once they are on your computer you can do with them what you want.

Question : Has anyone had a Casio Exilim Zoom digital camera?
I'm looking to by a Casio EX-Z1050 10.1-Megapixel Digital Camera and I was wondering if anyone has had one before and how well it works. I want something with a fast shutter speed that can take sharp pictures. My camera that I have right now doesn't focus in on things very well. For example, a while back I tried to take a picture of a dragon fly and it ended up just looking like a blur in the middle of the picture. I had it focused and it wasn't moving, it just didn't work very well. I'm hoping that the Casio would work better. Well, anyways, if you know anything about this camera, please let me know. Thanks. :) Also. Do you know about the black ones. I like it better than the silver, but I saw a black, used one online and a lot of the paint was chipping off. I'm not sure if it was because of poor keeping, or if it just chips off easy. If the black does, that doesn't mean that the silver would too does it? I'm hoping that it is a different kind of paint or something.

Answer:
ok, well i have one, and i personally like it very much, the shutter speed is pretty damn fast for a decent digital camera, so is cool for taking action shots... and has a very good auto-focus tool, or you can focus it yourself, and has a fabulous macro, so you can take pictures of your dragon-fly til your hearts content :-) hope this helps, you can get good deals at PIXmania.com byee clare x

Question : How do you get the pictures from your Casio LCD Digital Camera QV-11 onto your computer?
I have some really good pictures on my camera but I can't get them on my computer! What do I do? I have the cable to hook up to the computer but I still can't get it to work. Is there a program I need or something? Please help. Thanks.

Answer:
Just get a card reader. It's much simpler to use. I have been transferring pics to my computer using a card reader only such that I haven't even seen what the USB cable that came with the camera looks like.
